[Third Person Pov]
Sam and Danny attacked as one. Danny charged head-on, his constructed ice-and-energy sword carving through the air in a blazing green arc, while Sam provided covering fire with rapid volleys of violet flame orbs that detonated on impact in bursts of searing heat and mystical force.
With the sudden addition of both Sam and Tucker, Skulker was forced back onto the defensive. As a hunter by nature, it had become instinct to observe and catalog new opponents before committing fully to the kill. Every movement, every spell, every pulse of power was being recorded, measured, and filed away.
"The longer we stall this fight, the more data he collects," Danny said, appearing beside Sam for a brief moment as the two of them studied the Ghost Hunter from a short distance. "We need to be decisive."
Skulker decided not to give them the luxury of planning. Rows of missile ports snapped open across his exo-suit. A fresh swarm of rockets screamed toward them. Danny stepped forward without hesitation and swept his sword in a wide, horizontal arc. A wave of absolute cold followed the blade; every rocket froze solid mid-flight and dropped like stones beneath a thick blanket of swirling snow.
"Leave the opening to me," Sam said, opening both palms. "I'll create the chance we need. That's when we pin him long enough for Tucker to finish his part."
Orbs of deep purple flame blossomed above her hands, then elongated and reshaped themselves into a flock of spectral crows. The constructs circled her once, leaving bright trails of glowing embers in their wake with every sharp cry, before she uttered a single command in the language of love.
The flock shot forward like living missiles.
Skulker tried to outmaneuver them at first, weaving at high speed between the maze of pipes, catwalks, and chemical tanks. When speed alone failed, he answered with laser sweeps and torrents of Ghost Ray bullets. The crows either reformed after being struck or simply slipped between the attacks with unnatural agility. Frustrated, Skulker finally raised a full-strength energy shield. The flame birds slammed into it one after another in a cascading chain of mystical detonations. The overlapping explosions overloaded the barrier and hurled the Ghost Hunter downward hard enough to crack the concrete when he hit.
Danny was already there. He appeared above the downed hunter and brought his sword down in a single, massive overhead swing. The shield shattered. Towering spires of ice erupted from the impact point, racing outward to encase Skulker's limbs and torso.
For a moment it looked as though the imprisonment would hold.
Then the exo-suit's thrusters ignited at full power. The sudden blast of heat and force shattered the ice prison and sent both Danny and Sam skidding backward across the frozen floor.
Skulker's remaining optical scanner locked onto Tucker, marking him as the weakest link—the easiest target. Remove one, and the others would soon follow.
"Tucker!" Danny shouted in warning.
The blade was already descending toward Tucker's neck.
Tucker leaned back at the last possible instant, the katana whistling past his throat close enough to shear a few strands of hair. He flipped cleanly through the air and drove the sole of his winged shoe into Skulker's midsection with precise, coordinated force. The Specter Deflector at his waist flared to life on contact. A powerful feedback shock ripped through the exo-suit, drawing a genuine cry of pain and surprise from the hunter as he was thrown backward.
Danny capitalized immediately. He appeared above the airborne Skulker and unleashed a concentrated Ghostly Wail that slammed the hunter downward with concussive force. Skulker crashed through the outer wall of the building in an explosion of concrete and rebar, then cratered the ground outside where he finally came to rest.
Sam and Danny moved as one to bind him before he could recover. Violet magical ribbons blossomed from Sam's hands and wrapped tightly around the exo-suit, while Danny focused streams of absolute zero ice around every joint and limb, locking them solid. Skulker thrashed, shattering ice and straining against the ribbons, but the two of them continually renewed the restraints the moment they began to fail.
"Tucker! How much longer?!" Sam shouted over the constant sound of cracking ice and rebinding magical threads.
Tucker wiped a smear of blood from his cheek with the back of his wrist and swung his backpack around to his chest. Cables spilled out as he plugged them into his PDA with quick, practiced motions.
"Just a few more seconds!" he called back, eyes locked on the cascading code across his screen. "I can't afford to mess this up!"
The moment the progress bar on Tucker's PDA hit one hundred percent, he yanked a small USB drive free from the side port. Without hesitation he shot forward, winged shoes flaring, and dropped hard onto Skulker's broad metal shoulders. The Specter Deflector at his waist flared to life on contact, flooding the exo-suit with continuous feedback shocks that tore a raw, agonized roar from the Ghost Hunter.
Tucker jammed the USB into the exposed neck port, then kicked off in a clean backflip, sliding across the ice until his backpack settled once more over one shoulder. Sam and Danny both retreated several steps the instant they saw what he had done.
Skulker thrashed wildly. Ice shattered under the force of his thrusters and Ghost Rays. Magical ribbons parted beneath the furious arcs of his dual katanas. When the last restraint fell away he whipped his helmeted head toward the trio, optical sensors burning with pure, murderous aggression.
"Tucker… what exactly did that do?" Sam asked, eyes narrowed in wary skepticism.
Danny straightened, a small, confident smile spreading across his face as the spectral helmet construct dissolved into motes of green light.
"Wait for it," Tucker whispered.
Skulker thundered forward, both swords raised. "I'll skin you all alive—and I've got just the place in my trophy room for your heads!"
He closed the distance in a blur and stopped directly in front of Danny, one katana already drawn back for a killing stroke. Danny didn't so much as flinch.
Inside the exo-suit, lights began to die one by one. Panels went dark. The once-confident AI voice slowed, grew heavy and distorted.
"Malware detected… commencing factory reset…"
"What?! Factory reset?!" Skulker's voice cracked with genuine panic. He slammed both fists against the internal control panels. "No—no, no, no!"
The trio watched in silence as the last light in the optical sensors faded. The green flames that had crowned the helmet guttered out. The massive exo-suit froze in place like a statue of blackened steel, completely inert.
Danny stepped forward, gripped the edge of the faceplate, and ripped the helmet free. Inside the cockpit, the tiny, blob-like true form of Skulker sat exposed and sputtering.
"Now this is bullshit!" the little ghost squeaked.
Danny pinched him delicately between two fingers and lifted him free of the dead armor. When Skulker looked up from the half-ghost's open palm, he found three victorious faces smiling down at him.
Danny pursed his lips and blew a soft, freezing breath—exactly as though extinguishing a candle. Instantly Skulker was sealed inside a perfect, crystal-clear cube of ice no larger than a cocktail garnish.
Sam glanced at the empty exo-suit with open curiosity. "What exactly did you do?"
Tucker's triumphant grin faltered for a second, turning almost sheepish. "I once downloaded something that was supposed to clean a virus off my computer. Instead it forced a complete factory reset and wiped everything. I was devastated. So… I adapted the same principle. Forced the exo-suit's systems into a full reset and wiped every scrap of data and programming it had built and collected."
"Smart," Sam said with an impressed nod.
Danny was still looking at Tucker, a mixture of amusement and mild suspicion dancing in his eyes. "What were you even doing that got a virus on your computer in the first place? You're usually careful about that stuff."
Sam tilted her head, equally curious.
Tucker's face flushed. He adjusted his glasses with one finger and looked pointedly away. "Don't worry about it. You do what you need to in your free time, and I'll worry about mine."
"…That's disgusting," Sam muttered, lip curling in disdain.
The three of them broke into shared laughter. Danny opened a familiar silver thermos; a swirl of blue energy sucked the frozen Skulker inside with a soft *thoomp*. The lid clicked shut.
"And that's another win for Team Phantom, baby! Woooh!" Tucker crowed, both hands flying up for celebratory high-fives.
Sam and Danny returned the gesture—only for a sharp electric jolt to leap from the still-active Specter Deflector and zap both of them.
"Tucker!" they shouted in unison, shaking out their tingling hands.
Tucker rubbed the back of his head with a meek grin. "Sorry… forgot about that for a second."
*Clap.*
*Clap.*
*Clap.*
A slow, deliberate series of applause echoed through the ruined chemical plant. The atmosphere shifted in an instant—lighthearted victory evaporating into cold, instinctive dread. All three of them tensed. Breath came faster. Sweat prickled at their brows. A thin mist of cold air curled from Danny's lips.
They turned as one toward the source of the sound.
Danny's eyes widened in sharp recognition.
Standing high in the air, under the half-moon, was a tall, powerfully built figure with pale-blue skin, aristocratic features, and the unmistakable aura of the ghost hybrid with vampiric design. His expression was one of cold, almost clinical indifference.
"Vlad Plasmius," Danny muttered, the name leaving him at a loss for anything further.
Vlad did not stop clapping. His voice, when it came, was smooth, cultured, and laced with quiet contempt.
"Truly, you are your mother's son, Daniel. An impeccable ghost hunter. I'm certain both of your parents would have been proud of the man you are growing into."
