Blood pacts are contracts using blood as a medium, binding the souls of two individuals together. If one party breaches this contract, they will face punishment from the Heaven and Earth Dao, with the lightest consequence being death and the loss of one's Dao, and more severe consequences resulting in the scattering of the soul, with no chance of reincarnation. Hence, a blood pact is an extremely serious contract, and would not be signed unless necessary. Blood pacts can be divided into equal blood contracts and master-servant blood contracts.
The master-servant blood contract is self-explanatory. Once signed, one party becomes the master and the other the servant. The life and death of the servant are entirely in the hands of the master. No matter what the master demands of the servant, the servant can refuse. Generally, such contracts are signed to subdue mounts or opponents to limit them, like the pact between Aman and the young Golden-Horned Barbaric Beast.
