Zoe's POV
Garrett took another slow sip of his drink, his eyes never leaving me.
"Careful, Chloe…" he muttered, amusement lacing his voice. "You're being too obvious."
My heart dropped. I grabbed his arm instantly, my fingers tightening around him as guilt washed over me like a wave.
"What do you mean?" I whispered sharply, clenching my teeth just enough to keep my voice from rising.
He turned fully to me, that familiar half-smile already tugging at the corners of his lips. It annoyed me because it meant he knew something. Or worse—he understood something.
"I can hear your thoughts," he mouthed playfully.
My stomach flipped.
Shit. I had completely forgotten how perceptive Garrett could be, how easily he read through me.
I scoffed, rolling my eyes as if I hadn't just been caught. "Yeah, whatever," I muttered, letting go of his arm with a small shove.
