Zoe's POV
My heart pounded so hard that I could hear it. Not just feel it—hear it. Each beat slammed against my ribs, like trying to break free and run before the rest of me could collapse. The room suddenly felt too small, too hot, too suffocating.
"You know for someone who would not be participating in this competition, you seem to be doing too much. Don't you think?" She said."
Casey stood in front of me, wearing that smile. That awful smile. The kind that made you feel like someone knew exactly how to destroy you and was enjoying every second of watching you realize it.
"What do you mean?" I asked confused.
I know your secret, Chloe," she answered immediately wasting no time.
The words replayed inside my head over and over again, like an echo, like a curse. I forced my feet to stay planted, even though every instinct inside me screamed at me to run. Run where? I didn't know. Far away from her. Far away from London. Far away from this entire lie.
