Brandon's POV
Brandon watched everybody's faces turn at the same time.
The living room went still in an instant.
I suddenly became the only odd one out.
Seth looked at me like I was some troubled kid throwing a tantrum.
Colour slowly drained from Dad's face. Even the small smile that had been resting there moments ago disappeared completely, replaced by something painful.
Something almost pitying.
But I didn't care.
I didn't know exactly what it was, but seeing him standing there after everything that had happened felt wrong.
It felt staged.
Mum had been arrested barely hours ago and suddenly he was back?
Just like that?
Something wasn't right.
And seeing Elizabeth standing there with her eyes shining in relief twisted something ugly inside my chest.
Even Seth looked happier than I had seen him in weeks.
And somehow that irritated me even more.
Because Seth wasn't thinking.
He wasn't.
