Chapter 8 - Chapter 7: A Memorable First Job (4)

Rulo sent someone flying towards Sol and he grabbed him by his ankles. Then swung him at his comrades with incredible force. Sol knocked down two of the five Hare and Turtle members that were actively attacking him. He ducked to the side as one of the remaining ones attempted to hit him with a morning star in the head. He caught himself at a diagonal angle and used that to push off of for a spinning kick. The attacker dodged getting kicked in the head but couldn't dodge the subsequent kicks to the body. His body contorted awkwardly at an angle and he spun in the air as he was launched away from Sol.

Another tried stomping Sol's head and he jumped up. He ended up headbutting her in the chin when he did so and she stumbled backwards clutching her now bruised jaw. The last one charged at Sol with twin daggers. He aimed one at Sol's head and the other at his thigh. Sol caught both of his wrists. The blades just barely touched Sol's clothes and couldn't even cut through the material. Sol smiled as he brought his face closer to the masked man's.

He tightened his grip and a sickeningly loud crack was heard as the man screamed out in pain. Sol's skin was glowing even more than before at this point. A pulsing feeling started bubbling under his skin. Just when Sol thought he might take a break and that the feeling would fade slightly the girl that he'd head-butted in the chin took up a hand to hand combat stance in front of him. She waved at him to come at her and the two started fighting.

While all this was happening Rulo was fighting on the other side of the room. Two people attacked him at the same time. One from the front and one from the back. He punched the one that was in front of him in the stomach with both fists and bent forward kicking up his leg. He hit the one behind him square in the jaw and lifted them off the floor several feet.

A woman with a pole arm charged at him. She attacked in jabs and swipes but Rulo lazily dodged each of her movements getting her to attack her allies instead. She let out a groan of frustration and attempted to grab Rulo. She succeeded and for a moment was ecstatic. Then Rulo snapped and his signature lightning coursed through her veins. When she let go her body was twitching with foam coming out of her mouth.

A man rushed at Rulo with a sword and attempted to slice him into pieces. Rulo tossed him over his shoulder and he landed on the floor with a harsh thud. Before he could do anything more one of the Hare and Turtle members with a crossbow shot at him. He dodged out of the way just enough to not have an arrow in his brain but not enough to avoid it scratching his face. Rulo paused and reached up to touch his face. When he pulled away with blood on his fingers he was livid.

"Now... I've got two scratches on my face. What are you gonna do if my handsome looks fade because of this!?" Rulo shouted. The archer started cowering in fear and Rulo shot a blast of lightning at them. The blast missed just slightly as something hit the top of his hand. He looked around but failed to find anyone who was still standing that could have done it. Then Rulo spotted the swordsman from just earlier crawling away from him.

Rulo let out a tsk noise and kicked him between the legs. A heart wrenching scream echoed out as well as a popping sound. The man's eyes rolled into the back of his head as he passed out. Rulo picked up the sword he was using and quickly threw it at the archer. The blade stopped mid air as a chain wrapped around it and it was pulled away. Rulo followed where it was pulled to with his eyes and saw that it belonged to the man out of the pair that had brought him here.

"What an annoying bastard." Rulo said under his breath. He dodged backwards as a knife went flying past his head and ended up back to back with Sol. A few more goons surrounded the two. Sol was now a vibrant glowing figure on the battlefield, fighting off one gang member after another. Each time he swung his fist he pulled back with a newfound vibrancy that made him seem like a bright blur on the battlefield. Rulo on the other hand was fighting like an old pro getting comfortable again in his own skin.

Sol tossed a man into the air and Rulo shot him with a blast of lightning. He fell on top of his own comrades causing them to get shocked too. Rulo pulled a man right into Sol's line of sight and he punched him in the ribs. The guy that Sol punched went flying into a few lackeys that were standing still, hesitant to join the fight.

"Get them!" One of the others shouted. Those that were still just standing by absent mindedly rushed the two and started attacking in a flurry of blows. The sound of metal grinding against metal rang out as Rulo blocked three blades got with the metal plating on his glove. Three blades men were suspended in the air for a moment as the pressure from the strike stilled the air and momentum.

Just as Rulo launched a counter attack a grunt attempted to tackle his legs. Sparks started between the metal plating and swords as Rulo's lightning shot the three backwards. He jumped over the person charging at his legs and landed on his hands. He pushed off his hands and rammed the person into a group of people that were attempting to attack Sol. Sol punched one of them in the stomach and sent them flying. He turned, giving a big left hook to the guy attempting to rush him just as Rulo got into the same stance as before. He shot out a few lightning blasts.

A few people attempted to attack the two of them and Sol punched one into the other. Their bodies exploded into a sea of blood and the sheer force from Sol's blow turned the two into a mangled mound of flesh. Sol's body was so warm that the blood that splashed onto his body evaporated on contact. His uniform warped with heat.

It started changing color. First the green turned red and then the spots that were hotter started fading more into pink and then to white. The sleeves seemingly melted off as they warped and turned into huge golden bangles that were seemingly suspended into the air. His shoe buckle melted into gold, the leather bunched up and spun itself into silk only covering the top of his feat. It wrapped around only his middle toe creating a triangular shape going up to wrap around his ankle. Four new gold chains appeared attaching his bangle to the chain on his gloves. The metal buckle twisted and became an anklet with charms sticking straight up.

Sol swung his fist and the bangle let out a soft ringing sound as he made contact with his foes jaw. Sol's skin let out a soft pale white glow. The moon slowly started peeking over the jagged edge of the broken roof, illuminating the pair. Rulo punched a man into a pile of similarly injured assailants and looked up at the growing moonlight. He smiled up at the moon. Sol followed Rulo's gaze and did the same, taking a moment to bask in the silence.

Sol and Rulo stood on a pile of The Hair and The Turtle members. Several had broken bones, were bleeding, charred or not moving at all. After a good moment of time had passed the sound of a chain swinging cut through the silence. The man who had brought them there stepped out into the light with the girl next to him. The girl, Juana, was sneering through her mask at the two of them.

"These guys were supposed to be chumps. Easy money." She said through gritted teeth. "Where the hell did that boss guy run of to anyways." Juana continued to grumble. The man wrapped his chain around his hand and hit Juana on the head with his fist.

"You're giving up too much information. At least pretend to respect him." He said. His stance seemed relaxed but Sol was struggling to find a place that seemed easy to target. Juana stomped her foot accidentally crushing some poor guys hand.

"Juveti, you know I don't give two fucks about these idiots! Why the hell should I?" Juana responded. Sol could just barely see Juveti roll his eyes at her. He sighed and relaxed his shoulders looking into the sky. Sol saw this moment as an opportunity and dashed forward trying to hit Juana in her face. Juveti shot his hand in front of his face and Sol felt immediately nauseous, causing his swing to go wide. Sol jumped back clutching his head.

"Don't argue with me. We don't have time for it. We've got riffraff to get rid of." Juveti said turning his attention to Sol and Rulo. "You. Mages. What are your names?" The man asked in an overconfident tone. Rulo looked like he was starting to get annoyed with him. "What's with these guys? And what did he do to Sol?" Rulo thought, sparks flickering out in sync with his eye twitching.

"You know you're actually really irritating." Rulo said looking more than a little pissed. Juveti smiled in a mocking manor and Rulo seemed to get more infuriated. Sol watched this with disinterest washing over his face. He lazily turned his eyes to Juana, eyes going wide with interest as he remembered how quickly she had moved when she had first captured them. The yellow overtook his fully auburn eyes. Juana flinched as she turned her eyes to Sol only to freeze for a moment as she came face to face with what looked like two full moons hanging in nothingness. Then the moonlight moved further across the space and she could clearly make out Sol's features again.

"Hey, what the hell is wrong with you? Huh?! you start glowing when you hit people, you just disappeared for a second and... you've got those fucking eyes." Juana said looking at Sol with something like disgust and hatred. Sol tilted his head to the side slightly. "I don't know what your talking about." Sol said tilting his head to the side. "I've always been like this. Nothing about me has changed." He continued with an off looking smile on his face. A chill went up Juana's spine and she started backing away from Sol. Rulo put his hand out in front of Sol to stop him.

"Hey, you really think we'd just tell you our names? We're not exactly on good terms." Rulo said. His eyes never left Juveti as he spoke. Juveti gave a light chuckle like he was amused at the musings of an idiot. He appeared suddenly behind Rulo, placing his hand on his shoulder. He made a tsk noise while wagging his finger. "I already know your name, Oregrulous. I was just curious about his name." Juveti said gesturing to Sol. Rulo attempted to punch him but juveti jumped over his hand, landing back where he was originally.

"I was simply intrigued by this new individual you, Ocean Bringer, brought under your wing." Juveti said with a particular look on his face that made it seem as though he believed himself to be better than you. Rulo grit his teeth. The lightning arched as he shot his hand forward sending a blast of lightning racing towards Juveti. He flicked his wrist and the weighted side of his chain effortlessly slammed onto the blast and made it veer off course. Rulo turned to look at Sol and he hadn't taken his eyes off Juana.

"Whatever." He muttered to himself before yelling at Sol. "Hey! Go crazy! I don't care if you destroy this place just kill 'em!" Rulo said. Before he could finish Sol had shot forward and attempted to punt kick Juana. Juana narrowly avoided him as Sol whizzed past. He ended up with his foot stuck in the wall. He pulled his foot out making that part of the wall collapse. Juana was running around the outer side of the room trying to get behind Rulo.

Sol placed his foot gingerly on the wall before doing the same with his other one. In the span of a few moments, mere seconds, Sol was sprinting across the room along the wall. Loud thunderous sounds followed his foot steps as well as puffs of dust. Wherever he stepped the wall crumbled into nothingness. He was quickly gaining on Juana.

Rulo and Juveti stood still watching this exchange for a good amount of time. Occasionally Rulo would shoot a small blast of coral pink lightning at the other and he'd knock it away. Eventually Rulo got upset enough that he stopped paying attention to the juniors fighting. Rulo turned to him with anger in his eyes.

"Stop dodging! Damnit!" Rulo shouted as he slammed his hands together. This caused a huge line shaped shockwave of lightning to slam forward. Juveti dodged to the side effortlessly and the lightning wizzed past his face.

"So you can hit me? I'd rather not let you fry my brain. Some of us like being intelligent. Oh, I guess you wouldn't know about that would you?" Juveti said with a snide smirk on his face. He whipped his chain forward and Rulo jumped to avoid being hit. Juveti gave a cruel laugh as he moved his hand slightly. One little movement made the chain quickly climb into the air hitting Rulo in the chest. He coughed as the weight of it hit his chest.

Behind them Juana threw blades at Sol. Sol dodged nimbly out of the way and she clicked her tounge. "There's something off about the ways he's been moving since that flashy outfit change. He attacks all my weak points ruthlessly yet when I purposefully leave my self open for faints he ingores them. What's going on?" Juana thought to herself trying once again to hit Sol. He ducked under her blade and got in close. Sol rammed his palm into Juana's stomach. He twisted his arm and pressure began to build. The white hot energy around Sol, pulsing under his skin, began to gather. It ran up his arm and swirled into Juana's gut.

She hurled backwards in a gentle spinning motion. Her back hit the wall and she slid down it softly. When her body hit the ground she coughed up blood then doubled over clutching her midsection. For the moment she seemed dealt with so Sol turned his attention back to Rulo only to find that he looked haggard. Blood was dripping down the side of his face from a head wound and he was grabbing his side. Blood was dripping down his snarling lips. He looked similar to a rabid dog.

Sol looked up only to see Juveti hovering in midair with chains suspended in the air around him. Sol focused his eyes and they pulsed white for a moment. "I'll finish these two off quickly and then have Juana looked at by the boss. Xec is probably gonna have a field day when she learns that Juana got her ass handed to her by someone who isn't even officially a Mage." Sol heard in the voice of the man before his eyes.

Sol pried deeper feeling like he had more control over it now than he had earlier in the day, whatever this power was. "The boss, Kunia, she's a shrewd business woman. The kind to capitalize on any opportunity for her own personal gain. The o#e wh# ##t #h# k######ms b#s# k#####--" Sol held his head as some form of mental feedback started cutting him off. His ears started ringing as the sound started growing. The nausea from before returned in full force.

It was like having giant hands crush his head from every direction. He stumbled backwards and slumped against one of the still standing pillars. His nose started bleeding as his eyes rolled to the back of his head. Rulo watched as Sol passed out from whatever had just been done to him. "I gotta be careful of this guy he's clearly a Mental magic user but I don't even know of what kind. I thought it was Telekinesis but his ability to exert control over Sol might mean he's a Unique magic user." Rulo thought. A fire danced in his eyes as he steeled himself for a rough battle ahead.

"You wanna know my name? I'm sure you already know it but if you tell me your magic type I'll gladly tell you my name." Rulo said. He wasn't grasping at straws just yet but he still needed at least a minute or two of uninterrupted concentration to do what he needed to. He felt a little relieved when Juveti actually entertained his question.

"Heh, how pathetic. You find yourself backed into a corner and now you're stalling until you can think of a way out. Like a rat in a cage." He paused here to laugh to himself with that same sinister smirk on his face. "I'll bite. I'm quite enjoying our little game. I can't wait to see what you'll do next. It's useless information to you anyways but I'm a Mental magic user. Of course I have something a little bit extra as well, that on the other hand, you don't need to know." Juveti said in a smug tone. Rulo smiled a bit wider. Facing people like that were his specialty. Although he still needed a bit more time. The lightning that had been coursing around his body had stopped and shrunk down to small little sparks whenever he'd move his fingers instead.

"If I'm going to die here anyway then it doesn't really matter if you tell me or not right?" Rulo asked. He relaxed his posture entirely, putting his hands on his hips and nodding his head as if in agreement with himself. Juveti let out a belly laugh at this and even the floating chains around him shook when he laughed. When he had pulled himself together again he spoke.

"Of course. That's absolutely true." Juveti waved his hand in front of himself and a chain snaked forward, writhing before him. It moved like a snake in suspended in the air. "I have a close friend of mine is a unique magic user. They have the ability to enhance a specific part of another magic users ability. It obviously comes with some restraints and restrictions but it'd be useless to tell you. Your going to die anyway." Juveti said laughing cruely. He waved his hand and the chains darted forward. They made and audible sound as the cut through the air towards Rulo.

Rulo smiled like he had earlier when Juana had pressed a knife against his throat. He looked positively insane but so very happy at the same time. In the very instant before the chains hit him Oregrulous made a finger gun motion with one of his hands. The other was placed underneath it to stabilize it. The tip of his finger was bright pink. "Pew!" Rulo said as he made a motion like shooting. A concentrated beam of lightning shot forth from the tip of his finger, destroying the chains and just nearly missing Juveti's head as he moved to the side. It did graze his ear however. He let out a pained yelp.

Juveti gripped his now torn ear with a look of utter hatred on his face. He glared down at Rulo with murderous intent clear on his face. Up until this point he had been seemingly playing around with Rulo the way that a cat would toy with mouse. Now he seemed thoroughly pissed. Rulo looked up and gave a satisfied smirk as he held his now sizzling hand. "I'm fucked. I can hardly move after using that spell. Hehe he's gonna kill me. I guess this might be my last battle. Might as well go all out then!" Rulo thought to himself.

Despite the searing pain in his right arm Oregrulous lifted his arms and got back into a fighting stance. The moment he did so a vile feeling tore through his brain. It felt like giant worms wriggling and writhing around his skull. He clutched his head, falling to the ground. The pain was so terrible that Rulo had never felt anything like it. The pressure it was putting on his brain made him feel like his skull was going to explode. He coughed making blood shoot out of his mouth and nose.

"I'm going to fucking end you! You stupid miscreant!" Juveti said as he raised his hand at Rulo. He slowly started closing his hand into a fist. The more closed his fist became the worse Rulo looked. When he looked as though he was on deaths door he looked up. His peach skin was now pale, blood poured out of his eyes, nose, lips and ears. He chuckled, blood flying from his lips as he did so. "Just do it you dumbass. The reapers been waiting for me for a long time." Oregrulous said, weakly lifting his middle finger up.

"Then die." Juveti said. He went to fully clench his fist and a blur of light appeared in front of him. Sol was now bearing down on him. He swung his fist and his bangle let out a soft ringing sound as his fist connected with Juveti's arm. It made a crunching sound while it twisted into a marred piece of flesh. His wrist twisted and blood shot out as his skin twisted around the broken bones like a pretzel.

Sol's face was covered in a spray of Juveti's blood as he momentarily covered in the air in front of him. Juveti could see Sol's face and fear gripped at his heart for a moment. The blood from his bloody nose had fully dried and his eyes had turned into a shade fully matching that of the pale moonlight. His eyes looked completely white as did his outfit. Even the gold parts had turned a pale white color. He looked like an angel of death to Juveti. The moment passed when Sol fell back to the ground, landing with a thud and kicking up some dust.

"Kill him? You think you can? Then why don't you try to going through me first?!" Sol said in a threatening manner. The full moon had finally crested over the broken roof. It slowly began inching across the empty space where the roof should have been illuminating the two. The air and moonlight rippled around Sol as he stood glaring up at Juveti.

Juveti clutched his broken arm. "This kid... What is wrong with him? I don't think I've ever seen a mage this... Unhinged." Juveti thought to himself. "Then don't be offended if I kill you quickly." Juveti said, pain leaking into his voice. He raised his uninjured arm and began attempting to violate Sol's mind. Before he could Sol was in his face again. In a mere fraction of a second Juana was in front of Juveti taking the hit for him.

Sol's hand glowed with white radiance as it slammed into Juana's side. Her arm exploded off her body and Sol's fist ruptured a hole in the left side of her body. Her body flung away from them both as he mask slipped off. Her dark black hair was cut short. Her eyes were a vibrant green but they were very unfocused at this moment. Her body softly hit a broken section of the wall and blood seeped out from her midsection. Juveti scowled, his mask falling from his face. The scowling face of a man seemingly in his mid thirties with pale brown tresses flowing behind him. His black eyes seemed to dim the moon light around him.

"How could you!? How dare you! Juana is- Juana is!" Juveti looks at Juana and loses all composure. "I'LL KILL YOU!" He screamed out. He raised his hand and the broken chains rose from the ground shooting forward towards Sol. He began dodging the chain peices as if he could tell where they were going to be before they could even reach him. "Not with aim like that you won't." Sol said as he dodged effortlessly. Then suddenly he ducked and Juveti failed to dodge out of the way as a second, weaker blast of lightning hit him in the eye. Sol looked behind himself and Rulo was smirking at him.

"AGHHHH!" Juveti screamed as a it scorched his eye. He fell from the sky as he clutched the burning side of his face. He hit the ground with a loud crashing sound as he landed. He squirmed in pain inside the crater he'd just made. He'd landed on his right side on his broken arm. The lightning had hit him in the right side of the face as well. Sol rushed forward attempting to stomp on and crush Juveti's head. An invisible force stopped him moving as Juveti sat up huffing.

"I-i." Juveti started. Juveti looked over at Juana and shook his head. His magic wained for just a moment as he looked at Juana. In the instant that it did Sol went to punch him in the gut. He froze again as Juveti's attention focused on him. "You survive today you beastly creature!" Juveti said as he used his magic to pull himself into the sky. His magic also wrapped around Juana and she floated into the sky. He gingerly held her in his arm as he started floating off into the sky with the full moon over head.

"Fuck fuck fuck! Don't let him get away! Sol! Move damnit!" Rulo shouted as he fired smaller blasts of lightning towards the two flying. His attacks missed as Juveti swiveled in the air. "Don't worry! I'll be back to kill you both later!" Juveti said. "Be sure you don't go rushing to you death now! I'm sure Juana will want her chance at revenge too!" Juveti screamed as he began flying off into the sky with the full moon hanging over head.

The invisible force holding Sol in place dissipated. He jumped up over the broken roof and could just nearly see them retreating off into the sky. When he landed he looked over at Oregrulous. "Their too far gone to chase after." Sol said. Rulo let out a sigh and collapsed backwards with an exhausted look on his face.

"Ugh of course they are." Rulo said. He laid their for a few moments before shooting up and getting fully to his feet. "Wait! Whatever happened to the leader of the Hare and Turtle gang?" Rulo said. Sol rose an eyebrow at him. "You mean that guy with the turtle mask?" Sol asked. Rulo nodded. Sol shrugged his shoulders. Rulo rolled his eyes, walking over to the door that was now surround by mostly the rubble of walls.

He knelt down, looking at the soot from the first large blast of lightning. A small trail of sooty foot prints leading away from the building made Rulo shake his head. "Well at least they didn't think to cover their tracks." Rulo thought out loud. Sol nodded as he saw what Rulo was talking about. "Should we chase after them?" Sol asked. Rulo punched him gently in the shoulder.

"Why are you asking the obvious?" Rulo asked. Sol shrugged. Rulo shook his head and face palmed. The two started following the tracks of the escaped leader and his hench man. They raced through back alleyways searching for the ones that fled. After the soot started to dissipate from the foot steps they turned into an alley and laying on the ground was the two they were looking for. The man who had been wearing the turtle mask had blood pouring out from wounds in his ankles. He was still breathing but he had passed out. The other one was trying to crawl away the instant that he saw them round the corner. His leg had been broken and he looked filled with fear.

Sol gave Rulo a look and Rulo shrugged. Rulo stood over the now quivering man and threateningly gathered lightning in his palm. "Why don't you go ahead and tell me everything you know?" Rulo asked in threatening tone.

From a short distance away a figure watched as pink flashes of light blasted out of the alley way repeatedly. Hyrion was standing on a roof nearby. They twirled the end of their hair around one of their fingers. They looked towards the alley way. "I think they've got it for now." Hyrion thought before jumping away. They bounded over the roofs deeper, towards the inner most workings of the kingdom.

After a few minutes the flashes of pink stopped and the two walked out of the alley. Sol's body stopped glowing as the full moon fell behind the petals of the Great Lilly of Life. He glanced down at himself his outfit had returned to the regal looking deep green suit from earlier in the day. The small sparks had stopped being emitted by Rulo as well. The two both looked positively exhausted. Rulo let out a sigh.

"Hey let's get back to the den. We both need a shower after this." Rulo said looking at the drying blood on them both. "We can ask someone else to bring that guy to the holding cell later." Rulo said. He double tapped the orange jewel on his necklace and it glowed twice in response. He hummed and started walking off. Rulo tried to put his arms behind is head and winced in pain.

"What was that?" Sol asked, then glanced at Rulo. He looked pretty banged up. "Do you think it would be possible for you to get looked at by a doctor before the night is done? I know that they've all probably gone to sleep but-" Sol started. Rulo gently hit him in the chest as started walking away.

"We've got a hell of a doc back at the den. Don't worry about it. You'll learn all you need to in the next few weeks." Rulo said. The two spent the walk back to Besin's bar in silence. Sol was glancing at his hands every now and then with an uncomfortable look on his face. Rulo was looking up at the sky. He had never seen a power like Sol's but judging from his everything he currently knew about him it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that his existence itself was an enigma.

Oregrulous and Sol arrived back at Besin's tavern, more formally known as the Black Wall at an ungodly hour of the night. They walked in and without looking up Besin started to say something. "We're closed for the night. Come back-" He cut himself off when he smelled blood. He stopped cleaning the counter as his jaw hung open.

"What the fuck happened to you two?!" He shouted as he duck out from under the counter to greet them. He immediately pulled Rulo closer and began inspecting his bruised face and arms. Rulo started slapping his hands away with a slightly annoyed look on his face.

"Relax. It's not even that bad. I only have a few cracked ribs and the newbies only covered in other people's blood." Rulo said in a tone that was supposed to be joking but it did nothing to ease Besin's worry. He poked Rulo in the ribs and watched as his face contorted in pain. "THAT- That fuckin hurts. Come on Binbin don't be like that!" Rulo said after Besin poked him.

Besin grabbed Oregrulous gently by the hand and led him over to the door in the back right. He pulled out the key ring with the black metal keys and put one into the door. It had a door shaped bow with other four other doors set inside it. He swung the door open and in the place that should have had a staircase like it did earlier that day a hallway existed instead. He pulled Oregrulous into the hallway. Sol stood in the doorway a little baffled. Besin looked back when he could tell that Sol wasn't behind them.

"Go take a bath. I need to see how badly you're actually injured and I can't do that while your covered in blood." Besin said, then he pointed down the hall. "Last door on the right. We'll be in the room across from you. Come find me after." Besin said. Sol nodded slowly and did as instructed.

As Sol was waking down the hall he skimmed over the doors he passed. Some of them had nameplates on them others didn't. He read a few of them. Theodore, Talia, Uggon, Mauvred, Bast. He stopped when he came to a door that had nothing on it yet. He squinted his eyes and could have sworn he'd seen his own name etched into a nameplate like the others. He blinked and the feeling dissipated. He let out a huff through his nose.

Eventually Sol arrived at the room that Besin had told him to go to. He opened the door and peaked inside. What he saw made his eyes go wide. A large bath took up most of the left side of the room. Showers lined the right side and on the wall closest to him was a built-in shelf with soaps of all kinds. Sol had only ever seen rough bars of soap homemade by the people in Wesi. Good quality soaps could go for at least 10 Grass each. Seeing this many at once was insane.

Sol's eyes darted back around the room and he realized that the room that had been dark a few seconds ago was now fully lit. With newly lit room Sol could see that the entire room was actually made of green, gold and white marble. The floor was white marble tiles with gold laced throughout it. The gigantic bathtub was the same way but with green instead of white. It all looked very expensive and easy to stain. He hesitated to even enter the room.

Then he looked down at himself. At his arms covered in blood. "Yeah, I need to bathe." Sol thought. He walked into the room and started getting ready to take a bath. He picked out a few soaps then started getting undressed.

Besin sat in a chair facing a stretcher where Rulo was laid. He was using a cotton ball and tweezers to treat Rulo's wounds. He winced making Besin click his tounge. Rulo tried to move his wrist away but Besin grabbed it firmly, stopping him. They sat in silence for a few moments while Besin cleaned up some of his smaller wounds.

"Are you sure about him? What did you even see in him in the first place?" Besin said when he was done treating the little wounds. He was stuffing the medical equipment back into its place in a medical bag and wasn't looking at Rulo. Oregrulous was laying with his arm over his face. His expression twisted into a confused one then a serious one.

"He's a beast." Oregrulous paused here to look up at Besin who was raising an eyebrow at him. "He- he's the son of the Greyblades. I'm sure you heard him almost tell us that when he first got here. If I hadn't stopped him we would have trouble on our hands." Oregrulous said. Besin's face fell and he looked like he was afraid of something. Besin swallowed hard before asking another question.

"How is he a beast? What did he do?" Besin asked. His voice quaked. He knew a great deal more about the Greyblades than Rulo did. He knew the terror of being their enemy and their ally. Rulo spent the next few minutes explaining what happened durring the fight.

**********

Sol looked around the hallway for wherever Oregrulous and Besin had wandered off to. Eventually he came to a door with a plus sign surrounded by vines and snakes. He nodded his head. It was this room. He knew they were here. He reached for the handle but stopped. "Whatever conversation they're having in there is one I don't want to hear. They should be allowed to talk." Sol thought, his eyes once again going fully yellow. He dropped his hand and stayed infront of the door until he got the sense that they were done talking.

"Hello." Sol said as he opened the door. Oregrulous, who was sipping a drink, looked up in something akin to shock and horror as Sol entered. Besin looked like he was gonna faint. He turned his head away from Sol, resting his head in his hands. Rulo let out a weak, "Hey?", before Besin started scolding Sol.

"Why aren't you wearing your clothes? No nevermind. I can guess why. What happened to the clothes you were wearing when you got here?" Besin asked, he sounded positively exhausted. Sol scratched his head. He was wearing a towel around his waist. In all honesty he didn't know what he'd done wrong. He often did the same thing when he was back in Wesi with the other orphans.

"Uh. I don't get it. We're all guys here. Why does it matter if I'm wearing clothes or not?" Besin's head swiveled around so quickly that Sol knew he was about to be in trouble. He was being given the same look that Henryetta gave him whenever she got angry with him. The same look she had given him almost a week before when he left Wesi for the first time ever. He cracked a small smile and held his hands up in surrender. "Alright, I get it. I get it. I lost my clothes in the room with magical gear." Sol said quickly. Besin sighed and his rage left him.

"Did you at least put your dirty clothes in the dirty clothes hamper?" Besin asked. Sol nodded and Besin seemed to be satisfied. He stood up, walking over to a dresser in the room and pulled some pajamas out. He held them up to Sol and then shook his head, putting the shirt back. He opened another drawer. "Come pick something out of here that fits you." Besin said. Sol walked across the room to him, feeling Rulo's eyes on him the entire way.

Sol peaked in to the drawer and saw a drawer full of underwear. His face flushed a little as he found a pair that he liked. Afterwards he turned away from Besin and got dressed in them quickly. Then he grabbed the pants from Besin and got dressed in those too. Rulo could be heard slapping his hands over his eyes while letting out a groan.

Sol raised an eyebrow at Rulo's groaning and glanced over his shoulder at Besin who was resting his head in his hand again. Sol gave him a what did I do look. Besin just shook his head. Eventually when all of Oregrulous' more serious wounds were healed he walked Sol through the hallway, giving him a tour.

They walked back down the hallway to the door that had led them there. Rulo opened the door and instead of leading to the bar it led to an octagonal room. The door they had come out of was on the half of the room that had doors. The other half was stairs that spiraled up in opposing directions for each other. Sol looked on in wonder.

"This is the Path room. It shows you where you need to go. It's also connected to all of the spaces in the Mages Den." Rulo explained. Sol nodded his head. It felt like standing in a twisting, winding spider web. Sol felt like if he became a full fledged member of the Mercenary Mages that he'd be able to traverse this space flawlessly. "Where do we need to go now?" Sol asked.

"My room." Rulo said. He turned to one of the doors next to him and opened it. Another hall of doors opened up before them. Rulo made a motion for Sol to go in front of him and he stepped in. Rulo guided him down the hallway and the two passed doors of every shape, style and color. Each door had a different name etched into a nameplate in diffrent styles. They walked down the corridor and one with Oregrulous' name appeared. It had his name etched into it with lightning bolts all over it. Coral pink paint was splattered and dragged all over the door itself.

Rulo opened the door. A room full of beige, pink and purple filled Sol's vision. Every spot on the wall was covered with paintings. There was a desk in the corner with art supplies laid all over it. On the opposite side of the room was a single bed with a black headboard. There was a purple fur rug on the floor and the bed had a pink comforter on it. Rulo walked over to a splater painted closet door and opened it. He pulled out bedsheets and pillows, holding them out for Sol to take them.

"Sleep where you want to. We'll be rooming together for the next few days until you can get fully enstated as a member." Rulo said. "I've got to get to bed to help recover and you should too." Rulo finished, he sat on his bed and pulled his comforter over himself. Sol laid his blankets down near the bed and got comfortable. He turned to Rulo as the lanturns in the room started to dim on there own.

"Did- did I do a good job? Am I still a good person?" Sol asked. Even without seeing his face you could tell by his voice that he was close to tears. Rulo rolled over, turning to far Sol. "This kid has no idea how helpful he was." Rulo thought.

"You saved my life."
