Chapter 439 - Apprentice

Blaine looked around again, as if talking to himself, or perhaps speaking to the surrounding space, or to the Hunter system. Who knew? In any case, only Blaine cared about it. Because in the next second, Blaine's body had already appeared at the entrance of the tunnel he had come through.

With his palm pressed against it, the door opened again. Blaine did not stop. He turned around and walked out. When Blaine left, the white pillar rose again, and the door leading to the dark space also closed.

"Hey…"

Within the pillar, there seemed to be a faint sigh. Then it sank below again, hidden in the endless white light.

Looking at the split stone slabs and the rotting soil beside him, Blaine let out another deep breath. It felt as if a century had just passed.

He placed the two metal key fragments, now combined into one, into the Hunter space, and the stone slab also merged back together. Blaine hesitated for a while, then closed his eyes and returned the throne made of some magical wood material to its original spot. For a moment, Blaine actually wanted to go home…

However, even though he honestly put the throne back where it belonged, Blaine still stepped forward unwillingly and tried once more to lift it with brute force. Of course, the ending was still the same. The throne remained motionless. Blaine could not even break off a single branch from the top.

You had to know that with Blaine's brute force, even if a small planet were falling, he could shatter it with a single punch. Unexpectedly, although Blaine's physical strength alone had reached at least several thousand, or even hundreds of thousands, of tons, he still failed against this ordinary-looking throne.

Since there was no longer anything here of value for Blaine to use, Blaine refilled the soil he had collected into the Hunter space back where it belonged, then cast a magic circle around a hundred meters of the area. Perhaps because he did not think that was enough, Blaine even added the circular magic circle he had just mastered. It could be said that now, unless the Ancient One deliberately destroyed the arrangement here, there should be no one on Earth who could enter this place.

After finishing all this, Blaine clapped his hands in satisfaction, then used teleportation again to return outside the canyon, to the Himalayas.

Looking at the lively Kamar-Taj at the foot of the mountain, Blaine smiled wryly. He had not expected that he had only come to ask the Ancient One to help him solve problems related to magic, yet in the end, there had been unexpected gains. This trip had been worth it for Blaine.

"What is this?"

"My spell?"

In Kamar-Taj, the Ancient One's magical academy, Blaine heard someone speaking as soon as he entered the door.

"Uh, Wi-Fi password…"

Blaine was about to see who it was, but he was immediately struck by another voice. A spell? A Wi-Fi password? Something like that.

He opened the door and saw that the person who had said "Wi-Fi password" was the same Black magic apprentice who had previously led Blaine to meet the Ancient One. As for the other person, this surprised Blaine a little. Blaine had not expected that he had been gone for so long. Stephen Strange had already arrived at Kamar-Taj. Could it be that the white space really had the same effect as the Hunter space, speeding up the passage of time?

Looking at Stephen Strange's appearance, it seemed that he had already been enlightened by the Ancient One. He had now admitted that magic existed in this world and was preparing to stay in Kamar-Taj to study it. At the moment, the Book of Cagliostro had already put on the plain uniform of the Kamar-Taj School of Magic. He was holding a small note in his hand, which should have been the Wi-Fi password that the Black man had just mentioned.

Blaine shook his head, ignored him, and walked straight toward the place where the Ancient One was.

If there were no employment relationship, Blaine was afraid that he and Stephen Strange would never have any intersection in this life, so Blaine would not waste time on him.

Passing through the living room, he found that the Ancient One was not there. When he arrived in the backyard, there was currently a large group of people there, about several dozen of them. They were arranged neatly in a square formation and were practicing magic.

It seemed that they were all only practicing elementary-level magic, which was the golden shield. Their fingers were fitted with magic tools, then they held one hand before their chest while the other drew a circle, forming a round shield on both hands. It could be used for defense or as a weapon.

However, seeing their strange postures, Blaine could not help feeling a little amused. These magics were too low-level, so low-level that Blaine did not even bother to copy them. Moreover, their gestures for summoning magic were especially awkward. Not to mention whether they were as beautiful as the Ancient One's, even their steps and postures were wrong.

If the gestures of the Ancient One and Blaine while casting magic had to be regarded as beautiful art, then these were electric welding—and bare-handed electric welding at that.

Looking at these magic students, a sentence came to Blaine's mind.

Which place was best at freehand welding? Kamar-Taj was the best!

"You're back."

"How was it? Did you gain anything?"

"Mm."

Facing the Ancient One's casual question, Blaine also answered casually with one word, perfunctory as ever.

The Ancient One probably still did not know that there was another space beneath that throne. Since she was not an insider, Blaine felt it was better not to drag her into the water. It was fine if she did not know. She would not miss too much if she happened to die.

On one side of the backyard, there was a dark room. Rows of books were stored there, and the bookshelves were as tall as two people. The Ancient One was standing beside one of the bookshelves, flipping through something. There was no need to think about it. These books were definitely not ordinary collections.

That's right. This was the library of the Kamar-Taj School of Magic. There was also a yellow-skinned, middle-aged fat man at the door who looked Chinese. This fat man was also wearing the clothes of an ancient warrior, and he looked like a librarian or something.

However, at this moment, the librarian was staring cautiously at Blaine as he walked in. On the back of his hand, there was already a circular magic shield.

"Wong."

"Let him in."

Seeing the Chinese man named Wong turn slightly sideways, Blaine strode in.

After entering, Blaine could not help looking around. Although the room was not large, there were many books about magic, which showed that the Ancient One had sincerely invested in this magic academy. The collections gathered over the years were probably all here.

"Your heir is here?"

Blaine also took out a magic book, read it, and said this casually.

"Stephen Strange?"
