Chapter 372 - Monsters from Other Universes

Everyone in front of the screen looked at each other, completely unfamiliar with the name Doctor Octopus.

So, everyone turned their attention to Captain America and Tony Stark.

One was an agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., someone some of the top scientists would certainly be familiar with.

The other was a scientist, someone his distinguished colleagues would likely have heard of.

"I've never heard of that name before," Captain America shook his head, then looked at Tony Stark. "Stark, what about you? Do you know him?"

"Wait a minute, I think I really do remember,"

Tony Stark said thoughtfully. "I think I met this guy at a scientific conference. He seemed to be a nuclear physicist, researching atomic energy physics."

"And then?" Scott Lang asked, staring at Tony Stark.

"And then…that's it." Tony Stark shrugged. "That's all I can remember about that name."

"Great, we know he's a nuclear physicist. Does that help our judgment?" Strange shrugged.

"Natural physicist? I thought he studied biology. But what does physics have to do with an octopus?" Peter Parker scratched his head.

"Could it be because his name sounds similar to the word 'octopus'?" Captain America guessed.

"OK, we've got another piece of information. The nickname 'octopus' isn't necessarily related to his abilities. Anything else?" Thor glanced at Tony Stark again and asked.

Unfortunately, Tony Stark couldn't think of any more clues.

The clues they had weren't enough to make any judgments.

"That's great. That's really all we know." Seeing the slight silence, Thor couldn't help but shrug.

"Mr. Thor, even if we have enough clues, I don't think it's enough to make a judgment,"

Peter Parker said. "We're analyzing Doctor Octopus in our universe, but the question mentions Doctor Octopus from other universes. They might not be the same, right?"

"That's right, Peter, you're right," Tony Stark nodded. "But besides referring to them in our world, do we have any better methods?"

This question left Peter Parker speechless.

Indeed, these characters were from other worlds, and they knew absolutely nothing about them.

Currently, the only way to analyze them was to refer to relevant characters in their own world.

Although, based on everyone's experience, the same character in different parallel universes could be different.

For example, the three Spider-Men—the other two lost Uncle Ben, but the Spider-Men in their worlds didn't even have an Uncle Ben.

In other words, analyzing based on characters in their own world wasn't entirely reasonable, because the two might not be the same.

Even Steve Rogers in Captain Carter's universe was completely different.

But, this was indeed the only method they could use at the moment.

"Alright, let's leave Doctor Octopus for now. Let's look at the other options," Captain America said again.

The information available about Doctor Octopus was far too limited to conduct any effective analysis, so they had to skip him for now.

Everyone then turned their attention to the second option.

"Norman Osborn?" A slight look of seriousness appeared on Captain America's face. "This isn't the Norman Osborn I'm imagining, is it?"

The Osborn Corporation wasn't just any ordinary small company; it was a renowned super-corporation in America.

Although it was still somewhat inferior to the Stark Group, compared to the Krause Technology and other large corporations they had encountered earlier, those were mere novice figures.

  This was a true behemoth!

And Norman Osborn was currently the head of the Osborn Corporation.

"I think… it must be that Norman Osborn, right?"

Scott Lang offered his opinion. "Although there must be many Norman Osborns in the world, that one is the most special one, right?"

Although the system didn't explicitly state that this Norman Osborn was the same one, everyone agreed that the one the system was referring to was that Osborn.

After all, there are so many Osborns in the world, but they are all insignificant little people, and no one could possibly know them.

The Osborn mentioned without any description must be the most famous and special one.

It's like searching for a name in a search engine; the results will always be the most famous one, and those with the same name as others will never be found.

The answer system must be the same.

Otherwise, the answering process wouldn't be possible.

"OK, so does anyone here know anything about the Osborn of the Osborn Group?" Strange asked, glancing at everyone.

This situation was much better than with Doctor Octopus; quite a few people present knew a little about Norman Osborn.

But unfortunately, they were all vague people like rich people or big businessmen.

Most of it was just gossip circulating online, with no real value.

It didn't help with answering the questions either.

After a lot of discussion, everyone still hadn't gained anything practical, so they finally focused their attention on the nickname "Green Goblin."

"So~ what does 'Green Goblin' mean?" Thor asked, looking at everyone. "A green demon?"

"That's probably it, Norman Osborn will become a green demon! That's insane!" Peter Parker exclaimed, his eyes wide.

But whether that was actually the case, no one could know for sure.

They could only remain in the guessing stage.

Like option A, option B, "Green Goblin," was also impossible to answer.

Everyone had to skip it for now and analyze option C again.

"Well, option A is 'Doctor,' and here comes a professor. I've discovered that on Earth, PhDs and Masters are a very dangerous group!"

Thor couldn't help but laugh and complain.

Putting everything else aside, just look at the few contestants on site; half of them hold doctoral or master's degrees, including Tony Stark, Scott Lang, and Strange.

Dr. Banner, needless to say, has eight doctoral degrees!

He accounts for half of the four "suspects" who killed May—it's truly infuriating.

Following the same pattern as the previous two options, everyone then discussed Professor Curt Connors.

Unfortunately, this professor was clearly not a famous one; no one present had ever heard of him!

There was no way to analyze him.

They had to resort to his nickname, "The Lizard Man."

But they could only deduce that he possessed the ability to transform into a lizard; nothing more.

The same applied to option D.

No one knew who Maxwell was; no one had ever heard of him.

The nickname "Electric Man" was quite suggestive, implying he possessed the ability to emit electricity.

But even knowing this seemed useless.

  "Let's sort this out,"

Strange began, summarizing. "We have four options: an octopus monster, a lizard monster, one that shoots lightning, and a green goblin. Okay, a bunch of monsters. So, can we deduce from any details which of these monsters killed Aunt May, Peter Parker?"

Everyone looked at each other, unable to come up with a solution.

The analysis of this question had stalled.

Because for any option, the relevant information was far too scarce, insufficient for any effective analysis.

It was utterly impossible to begin.

"Choose the Green Goblin! Everyone, in my opinion, the answer is the Green Goblin!"

After a moment of silence, Peter Parker suddenly raised his head and said to everyone.

"Why?" Thor immediately stared at Peter Parker and asked, "Why Green Goblin, and not one of the other three?"

"Everyone, take a close look at their nicknames. Can you spot anything? Octopus Man, Lizard Man, Electro Man... and then, Green Goblin!"

  Peter Parker said enthusiastically.

"Sorry, I didn't see anything, so Peter, why don't you just tell us your thoughts?" Scott Lang urged Peter Parker.

"I mean—why isn't Green Goblin called Green Man? The word 'goblin' represents evil, right? So Green Goblin should be a bad guy, right?"

"And the other three, although they are more like monsters, we can't say they're bad guys or evil just because they're monsters, right?"

Peter Parker explained quickly, and everyone immediately understood his logic.

"While this judgment is a bit too simplistic and crude, it still has some merit." Strange thought for a moment and couldn't help but nod. "We can tentatively assume that Green Goblin is the bad guy."

"Seriously? Someone with 'Demon' in their name is evil, but the others without it aren't? Well… well… we really don't have any other analytical methods right now."

  Scott Lang shrugged.

Tony Stark also had a lot to say and couldn't help but complain.

Putting aside the fact that judging good and bad solely by the word "Demon" in their name, even if everyone agreed with this method, the reasoning that the bad guy is the murderer is quite flawed.

However, upon further reflection, Tony Stark didn't say much. Peter Parker's reasoning, even if not rigorous, still had some logic.

The question stated that Peter Parker brought the person in the options home, and that person killed Aunt May.

Would a good person kill their host while visiting someone's home?

"Genius, Peter, you're a genius!" Thor laughed happily, expressing his satisfaction. "So the answer to this question is the Green Goblin, great!"

"I choose B, the Green Goblin!"

Thor immediately looked up and said his answer to the big screen.

For someone like Thor who wasn't particularly fond of thinking, Peter Parker's reasoning was more than enough.

  [Correct answer!]

  The system notification immediately sounded.

"Haha! Peter, you're right, you're a genius!" Thor happily gave Peter Parker a thumbs up.

Peter Parker grinned shyly at Thor.

[Congratulations to the answerer Thor Odinson for winning the reward artifact, the Devouring Pouch!]

With this system notification, a tiny, round ball appeared in Thor's hand, about the size of a lollipop.

Its design was exquisite; the main body was a brownish-yellow sphere, but it was wrapped in a red "ribbon" in a cross shape.

At the center of the "ribbon," where the ribbons intersected, was something that looked like a green gem.

"Why is this thing so small?" Peter Parker couldn't help but lean closer, staring at the small ball with curiosity. "Is this what they call a magical artifact?"

"Is this a bomb?" Scott Lang guessed. "If you throw it on the ground, it will explode?"

"Scott, do you think the system would simply reward you with a bomb?" Strange asked, somewhat speechless.

"If it's a bomb, there's no point in making it so exquisite, is there?" Captain America weakly added.

"'Devouring Pouch,' 'Devouring' means to devour, so what about 'Pouch'? It means a small bag, a small box, etc. For example, a 'capsule' is a small box used to store some medicine particles. So Thor, this little ball is a container, and it contains other good things?"

Tony Stark also joined in with great interest. His guess sounded much more plausible than Scott Lang's.

"Haha, you don't need to guess anymore, you'd never guess."

Thor laughed, picking up the small ball and playing with it for a bit. "This thing, inside is a miniature space, it's actually the same thing as Stark's Capsules, just with a different name."

Everyone present suddenly realized what the Capsules were.

"Not bad, this thing is pretty good."

Scott Lang nodded repeatedly, even adding a comment, "But it looks much more refined than Stark's Super Glue."

"So Scott, are you going to look at something like a child, 'Is it good?'" Tony Stark retorted directly.
