Aaron sat beside them with a book, opening it slowly.
"Alright," he said softly. "Which one?"
"This one," Jasmine said, pointing.
He nodded and started reading.
His voice was calm and steady, filling the room in a quiet, comforting way.
The twins listened closely at first, asking small questions and making little comments, but as the story went on, their voices faded.
Their eyes grew heavy, their movements slowed, and before long…
They were asleep.
I stood there for a while, watching them closely, making sure they were truly asleep this time and not just pretending like they sometimes did when they wanted to avoid doing something. Jasmine shifted slightly but then settled again, while Hanith let out a soft breath and turned his face into the pillow.
I let out a quiet sigh and turned to Aaron. "They have finally gone to sleep," I said, lowering my voice as I stepped away from the bed. "They are too much"
