~Aaron's POV
I ran out to my car, the world around me blurring into streaks of grey as the tears poured freely down my face. I couldn't believe it. I couldn't believe how blind I'd been for all these years, how unaware I had been of the hell Katherine endured. My fists clenched on the steering wheel, and I could feel my chest tightening as the anger started building, sharp and hot, mingling with the grief. I was shaking, and the sound of my own crying filled the quiet car. I whispered her name again and again, my voice cracking, and I felt helpless, furious, and devastated all at once.
I slammed the door shut and roared the engine to life, my knuckles white on the wheel, and drove with reckless intent straight home, anger fueling every sharp turn. When I pulled into the driveway, the scene inside hit me like a punch. Amanda was sitting there on the couch, perfectly composed, sipping her drink as if the world owed her something. My fists tightened again.
