Chapter 440 - Arsenal vs Liverpool 2

Liverpool kept pushing forward after the restart. No retreat, no attempt to slow the tempo. Klopp's instructions from the touchline were constant, sharp hand gestures pushing the back line higher, urging the midfield to squeeze space.

Martin Tyler spoke over the chaos.

"Liverpool are keeping their shape very high up the pitch, but you can already see Arsenal are comfortable under pressure."

Gary Neville added.

"It looks aggressive, but it is not fully connected yet. The distances between Liverpool's lines are just a bit too big."

That gap became important immediately.

Liverpool tried to build through the right again, but the press was not coordinated. Chamberlain carried the ball forward, expecting support, but the timing behind him was off.

Kanté stepped in from nowhere.

The ball was gone in one movement.

Gary Neville reacted first.

"That is exactly what you are talking about. Liverpool is committing numbers forward, but Kanté is reading it early."

The loose ball rolled straight into Arsenal's control.

Le Kai collected it near the edge of his own third, already scanning forward.

Chamberlain rushed back, trying to close him down.

So did Chen Man from the opposite side.

Two angles, one target.

The press was intended to trap him.

Le Kai did not panic.

He took one touch sideways, used his body to shield Chen Man, and felt the contact immediately. Chen Man tried to force through the challenge, but Kai absorbed it, then shifted his weight again.

A second bump.

Chen Man lost balance slightly.

Kai used the moment.

A strong shoulder into Chen Man created separation, and in the same motion, he stepped out of pressure.

No whistle came.

The referee allowed it to continue.

Martin Tyler noted the moment carefully.

"Strong from Kai. Very strong indeed. He just used his body to get out of trouble there."

Gary Neville followed.

"That is the Premier League. If you hesitate in those duels, you lose the ball. He does not hesitate."

Kai pushed forward another step, then released the pass early into midfield.

Wilshere dropped to receive it instantly.

One touch.

Back to Kai.

Liverpool tried to collapse again, but Arsenal's structure was already forming around the ball: short passes, tight angles, controlled movement.

The early press from Liverpool was losing shape.

Arsenal began to circulate the ball inside their own half, drawing Liverpool forward without risk.

Martin Tyler described it.

"Arsenal are just taking a little bit of sting out of this now. Patient passing, keeping possession, forcing Liverpool to stretch."

Gary Neville responded.

"This is where Liverpool has to be careful. If they overcommit, Arsenal will break through them with one or two passes."

Le Kai lifted his head.

Liverpool's defensive line was high, but not stable. The distances between midfield and defence were still inconsistent. Space was appearing between the lines.

He moved forward.

Two steps into midfield.

Immediately, Chamberlain and Chen Man reacted.

Both pressed at once.

A coordinated attempt this time.

Le Kai let them come.

He slowed his stride, letting the pressure arrive.

Then he nudged the ball across his body, using his shoulder again to hold Chen Man away from the line of movement. Chamberlain reached in first, but Kai angled his body, blocking the lane completely.

Chen Man tried to recover the angle.

Kai stepped through both challenges.

A firm physical clash followed.

Chen Man was knocked off balance again and went down.

Kai continued forward.

A short phrase came out as he passed.

"Welcome to the Premier League."

Chen Man pushed himself up quickly, face tight, frustration showing for the first time.

"Get up, get him," he said under his breath, before sprinting after him again.

Gary Neville did not hesitate in his assessment.

"Chen Man is finding out quickly what the Premier League is like. It is not just pace. It is contact, repetition, and strength in every duel."

Martin Tyler added.

"And Kai is giving him a very direct education."

Kai released the ball to Wilshere, who turned and combined quickly with Aubameyang.

Arsenal broke forward.

Aubameyang drove into the box after a sharp change of direction and slid a pass across toward Suarez.

The ball skipped just beyond Suarez's reach.

Suarez turned immediately, frustrated.

"You should shoot that yourself," he said, shaking his head.

Aubameyang looked momentarily reflective, then reset his position without replying.

Gary Neville observed.

"That is interesting. Arsenal are so used to structured attacking patterns that sometimes the final decision becomes shared."

Martin Tyler followed.

"But the intention is clear. They are getting into dangerous positions now."

Liverpool countered instantly.

Three passes.

Direct vertical movement.

Suddenly, Coutinho was inside the Arsenal box.

A chipped pass toward Benteke.

Per Mertesacker reacted early.

One strong header.

The ball looped upward and dropped safely into the hands of Petr Čech. Petr Čech secured it calmly, then quickly looked up.

With no delay, he threw the ball out fast.

Kai received it on his chest in midfield.

One touch to settle.

Turn.

Arsenal were moving again.

"End-to-end football now at the Emirates. Both teams believe they can hurt the other."

Gary Neville nodded beside him.

"And that usually means somebody makes a mistake. The question is which defence breaks first."

Le Kai carried the ball forward with long strides.

Milner stepped out.

Henderson moved across.

Neither fully committed.

That hesitation gave Le Kai an opening.

Thirty yards from the goal.

He looked up.

One touch to settle.

Another to shift the angle.

Then he struck it.

The ball exploded off his right foot.

Mignolet remained rooted.

The entire Emirates followed the flight.

Ding!

The shot smashed against the crossbar.

The stadium gasped.

The ball bounced high into the air before Liverpool finally cleared it.

Le Kai stood motionless for a moment before grabbing his head in frustration.

Again. Another crossbar.

Gary Neville could hardly believe it.

"Oh, not again! That is an unbelievable strike."

Martin Tyler laughed.

"The crossbar has become one of Kai's biggest opponents. He hit several last season, and he has found it again tonight."

Neville shook his head.

"Mignolet was beaten by that. Completely beaten. Kai cannot strike it much better."

Around the Emirates, thousands of Arsenal supporters rose from their seats before immediately collapsing back down in disappointment.

Some fans held their heads.

Others applauded.

Many simply laughed in disbelief.

If they could, some of them might have asked the Premier League to raise the height of the crossbar by a few inches solely for their captain.

Unfortunately for Kai, the laws of football offered no such mercy. The match continued at a furious pace. Both managers stood near the technical areas, their expressions growing increasingly serious.

Pat Rice folded his arms.

Several Liverpool attacks had already produced dangerous chances. Coutinho continued to find pockets of space, Benteke remained a threat inside the box, and Chen Man's pace was forcing Arsenal's back line to stay alert.

Fortunately, the partnership between Mertesacker and Koscielny was holding firm. Čech had also produced several calm interventions. Still, the number of Liverpool attempts was becoming concerning.

On the opposite touchline, Klopp was equally dissatisfied.

Arsenal had not shown the vulnerability he expected.

The summer turmoil had certainly affected them, particularly in attack, but their defensive structure remained intact.

More importantly, Kai's movement was creating constant problems. Every time the Arsenal captain advanced into midfield, Liverpool's shape became uncertain.

Martin Tyler observed the tactical battle.

"Klopp will not be entirely happy. Liverpool's pressing has moments of success, but Arsenal are finding solutions."

Gary Neville agreed.

"Because Arsenal understands pressing themselves. They know where the spaces appear. Kai keeps identifying those gaps and carrying the ball through them."

Klopp remained motionless.

"This is becoming very difficult," he muttered.

Suddenly, a roar exploded around the stadium. The sound was enormous. Far louder than the reactions to the previous chances.

Klopp immediately looked toward the pitch.

No goal.

The players looked confused.

Even the officials briefly glanced around the stadium.

The crowd continued shouting.

At first, it sounded disorganized.

Then the voices merged.

"Wenger!"

"Wenger!"

"Wenger!"

Kai turned toward the giant screen.

There he was.

Arsène Wenger sat quietly in the stands, dressed casually, smiling somewhat awkwardly as the cameras found him. He raised his hand toward the supporters before returning his attention to the pitch. The entire Emirates erupted again.

Martin Tyler's voice carried genuine emotion.

"Oh, listen to this reception. Arsène Wenger is back at the Emirates tonight."

Gary Neville smiled.

"And that tells you everything about his connection with this football club."

For nearly two decades, Wenger had become far more than a manager.

He was the identity of modern Arsenal.

Players had arrived and departed.

Captains had changed.

Generations had passed.

But Wenger remained the constant figure.

The supporters continued singing.

Even Liverpool's players looked toward the stands.

Kai stared at the giant screen for another second before turning back toward the pitch.

Around him, his teammates had also seen it.

Wilshere clenched his fists.

Koscielny nodded quietly.

Sánchez's expression hardened.

Something had changed.

Martin Tyler spoke softly.

"There are moments in football when one person can lift an entire stadium. This feels like one of those moments."

Gary Neville added:

"These players grew under him. Some were signed by him, some were developed by him. Seeing him here tonight means a lot."

The uncertainty that had surrounded Arsenal during the opening weeks of the season suddenly felt smaller.

The crowd found its voice.

The players found renewed energy.

Kai looked across the pitch.

His eyes had become noticeably sharper.

This match suddenly meant more.

Arsenal needed their first league victory.

They needed to stop the disappointing start.

And now, with Wenger watching from the stands, the players wanted to give him something worthy of the occasion.

. .

On the touchline, Pat Rice looked up at the giant screen and shook his head with a smile.

"He turns up without telling anyone," Pat muttered. "Living a very comfortable life now."

He folded his arms and looked back toward the stands.

"If he's brave enough, he can come down here and sit on the bench."

The members of Arsenal's coaching staff laughed.

Even Pat himself could not hide his smile.

Wenger's appearance had changed the atmosphere entirely.

The supporters believed again.

The players believed again.

Even he, the interim manager, felt some of the pressure lift from his shoulders.

Back on the pitch, Kai continued to dominate the midfield battle.

Swish.

The ball slipped cleanly between Chamberlain's legs.

Once again.

Martin Tyler immediately reacted.

"Oh, he has done him again."

Gary Neville could only smile.

"That is the third time. Chamberlain is having a very difficult afternoon at the hands of his former captain."

The former Arsenal midfielder turned immediately, frustration written all over his face. This was supposed to be his Liverpool debut. Instead, his friend and former captain was making life miserable.

Kai showed no sympathy.

Once the whistle blew, friendships and former teammates meant nothing.

If you stood on the opposite side, you were simply another opponent.

Martin Tyler continued.

"Kai is growing into this match with every minute."

Gary Neville added:

"He looks lighter, sharper, and his movement is excellent. Yet he hasn't lost any of his physicality. Usually, when players reduce weight, they sacrifice strength. He hasn't."

The pressure continued.

Liverpool pushed higher again, forcing Koscielny into a difficult situation.

Unable to play out, the French defender sent a high ball toward midfield.

Kai tracked its flight.

He jumped.

His chest cushioned the ball perfectly while his body leaned backward to absorb the impact.

At that exact moment, Chen Man arrived again.

The collision was unavoidable.

The two players crashed into each other.

Kai barely moved.

Chen Man bounced away and fell onto the turf.

Gary Neville immediately pointed out the difference.

"That is strength. Pure strength."

Chen Man slowly got back to his feet.

Kai never looked back.

His eyes were already fixed ahead.

He carried the ball forward.

Liverpool's defenders immediately dropped.

Henderson came from one side.

Milner approached from the other.

Kai altered his stride.

One small adjustment.

Milner lunged.

Kai rolled his foot over the ball, skipped the challenge, and landed just outside the penalty area.

Space.

For the second time.

Martin Tyler's voice rose.

"Kai again!"

He looked up.

Mignolet adjusted his position.

Lovren stepped forward.

Kai planted his left foot.

His right foot swung through the ball.

The strike was not driven with pure power.

This time, there was finesse.

The ball climbed.

The goalkeeper hesitated.

Then suddenly it dipped.

Gary Neville almost shouted.

"Oh, that is magnificent!"

The shot curled downward toward the far corner.

Mignolet reacted late.

Far too late.

The ball kissed the inside of the post and flew into the net.

Goal.

The Emirates exploded.

Martin Tyler lost himself in the moment.

"Goooooooooooal! Arsenal lead! Kai produces a moment of pure quality!"

Gary Neville's voice followed immediately.

"What a strike. The technique is outstanding. After hitting the crossbar earlier, he adjusts completely. Less power, more movement, and Mignolet simply cannot reach it."

Thirty-one minutes.

Arsenal 1.

Liverpool 0.

Kai had scored his first league goal of the season.

Pat Rice punched the air.

The Arsenal bench erupted.

Wenger stood in the directors' box applauding.

After weeks of frustration, disappointment, and uncertainty, Arsenal finally had something to celebrate.

The supporters roared.

Scarves waved.

Seats shook.

The pressure that had been building since the opening day finally burst.

Martin Tyler spoke above the noise.

"This place needed that. The players needed that. The supporters needed that."

Gary Neville added:

"And look where Wenger is sitting. Sometimes football gives you these moments."

But one section of the stadium remained strangely quiet.

The East Stand.

Thousands of supporters stood motionless.

Their eyes followed only one figure.

Kai sprinted directly toward them.

His fists were clenched.

His breathing was heavy.

He stopped in front of the stand.

His right arm began to rotate.

Once.

Twice.

Three times.

The entire stadium knew what was coming.

His fist drove forward.

"Arsenal!"

Another punch.

"Arsenal!"

The third.

"Arsenal!"

The East Stand erupted.

The roar that followed was unlike anything heard earlier in the afternoon.

Thousands answered him.

The sound rolled around the Emirates like thunder.

Martin Tyler's voice became almost drowned out.

"The connection between Kai and these supporters is extraordinary."

Gary Neville looked toward the celebrating stand.

"That is not simply a goal celebration. That is a captain lifting an entire football club."

Above them, Wenger watched silently.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

For the first time in weeks, Arsenal looked like Arsenal again.

After three miserable league matches, after weeks of criticism, doubt, and frustration, the Arsenal supporters finally found an outlet.

The Emirates shook.

"Kai!"

"Kai!"

"Kai!"

The chants rolled from one stand to another until the entire stadium was singing the captain's name.

Kai stood near the edge of the penalty area, both arms raised toward the supporters. For a brief moment, the noise seemed to stop around him.

Martin Tyler's voice carried above the deafening atmosphere.

"Listen to this. The Emirates has found its voice again."

Gary Neville replied:

"And this is why big players matter. When confidence disappears, when performances drop, somebody has to stand up. Kai has done exactly that."

Around him, Arsenal players celebrated wildly.

Sánchez embraced him.

Wilshere shouted toward the crowd.

Kanté punched the air.

Even Mertesacker had made his way from the defensive line.

Meanwhile, several Liverpool players simply stood still.

Chamberlain watched from midfield.

Chen Man watched from the edge of the penalty area.

Neither player spoke.

There was frustration.

There was disappointment.

There was also a touch of envy.

Because this was the difference between being an important player and being a player. Kai had taken control of the entire match. The atmosphere, the tempo, the confidence of both teams, all of it seemed to revolve around him.

And perhaps the most uncomfortable realization for the two former teammates was that Arsenal looked stronger with every passing minute.

Their own performances were declining.

High in the stands, Wenger applauded quietly.

Unlike the supporters around him, he remained composed.

But there was unmistakable pride in his eyes.

The goal itself had little to do with tactics.

No elaborate movement.

No complicated combination.

Simply individual quality.

At crucial moments, Kai always seemed capable of producing something extraordinary.

Wenger's thoughts drifted back.

Summer.

2011.

A young player.

A difficult conversation.

An important decision.

He still remembered asking the teenager:

"Do you want to become a world-class midfielder?"

One decision had changed everything.

Years of training.

Years of guidance.

Countless hours spent with coaches, analysts, and teammates. The player standing in front of him now was no longer a prospect. He was one of the best midfielders in Europe.

Yet Wenger's eyes remained thoughtful.

Because he believed there was still another level.

A complete midfielder.

A player who could control every phase of the game.

Defend.

Create.

Lead.

Score.

Dominate.

And perhaps Kai was still moving toward that destination.

. .

Down on the touchline, Pat Rice was experiencing the opposite emotion.

He was no longer calm.

He was celebrating.

He punched the air.

He shouted toward the bench.

He embraced members of the coaching staff.

Weeks of pressure had been released by one goal.

To hell with criticism.

To hell with difficult fixtures.

To hell with expectations.

Arsenal finally looked alive again.

Martin Tyler noticed the Arsenal bench.

"Pat Rice is enjoying this."

Gary Neville laughed.

"He deserves to. The pressure around this football club has been enormous."

On the opposite side, Klopp remained motionless.

His expression had darkened.

The goal unsettled him.

The tactical adjustments would have to wait.

Halftime was approaching.

Liverpool simply needed to survive.

But football rarely waits.

Arsenal struck again.

It began with Kai.

One glance.

One pass.

The through ball cut directly between Lovren and Skrtel.

Aubameyang exploded into the gap.

Martin Tyler immediately raised his voice.

"Kai has seen him!"

Aubameyang collected the pass inside the area.

One touch.

A sharp cut inside.

The angle became extremely tight.

Mignolet rushed forward.

Aubameyang fired.

Goal.

2-0.

The Emirates exploded again.

Gary Neville almost laughed.

"What a pass. Absolutely outstanding. Kai has completely taken over this match."

Martin Tyler agreed.

"That is world-class vision."

Aubameyang sprinted toward the corner flag. For weeks, he had searched for his first Arsenal goal.

The pressure had grown.

Questions had begun.

Tonight they disappeared.

His teammates surrounded him.

He laughed.

He shouted.

For the first time since arriving in North London, he truly felt like an Arsenal player.

The stadium scoreboard showed forty-four minutes.

Arsenal 2.

Liverpool 0.

Pat Rice looked at the clock.

One minute until halftime.

The supporters could hardly believe it.

After such a poor start to the season, Arsenal suddenly looked like themselves again.

Martin Tyler summed it up perfectly.

"Nobody saw this coming after the opening weeks."

Gary Neville responded.

"This is the Arsenal that won the Champions League. This is the level people have been waiting to see."

The halftime whistle finally arrived.

Liverpool's players walked toward the tunnel quietly.

Chamberlain lowered his head.

His debut was becoming a nightmare.

The memories of his Arsenal debut beating at the hands of Manchester United returned.

Another difficult afternoon.

Another match spiraling beyond his control.

Chen Man was equally frustrated.

He had started brightly.

But as the match progressed, Kai's instructions, Arsenal's adjustments, and the physical battles had gradually removed him from the game.

The psychological pressure had become almost as difficult as the tactical battle.

. .

Inside the Liverpool dressing room, the atmosphere was heavy.

Nobody spoke.

Klopp finally stepped forward.

He looked at every player individually.

"Understand who you're playing against."

His voice remained calm.

"This isn't an out-of-form Arsenal side. This is a Champions League team."

He pointed toward the door.

"The smallest mistake against them becomes a chance. Every misplaced pass becomes dangerous. Every loss of concentration gets punished."

The room remained silent.

Klopp continued.

"Do not believe the headlines. Do not believe the criticism."

His eyes hardened.

"This team won Europe last season."

"They are not a fallen giant."

"They are the champions of Europe."

Outside the dressing room, the Emirates still echoed with the sound of one name.

Kai.
