Chapter 926 - The Giant Spirit Race

Translator: AnubisTL

Its limbs and facial features were identical to those of humans, but its sheer size defied belief. Unless some secret technique or spell was involved, how could a normal human grow so large?

Li Qing's eyes widened, and he couldn't help but exclaim inwardly, "Could this be a human from the spirit realm? Such a massive physique... Or have I encountered some kind of aberrant being?"

The giant radiated overwhelming power. Its breath, exhaled through its nostrils, was long and resonant, each exhalation altering the wind's direction.

The giant wore animal skin clothing, his appearance strikingly primitive. His body was covered in thick fur, resembling that of a member of a primitive tribe.

Li Qing, having concealed his aura, prepared to probe the area with his divine sense.

But the moment his divine sense began to spread, the giant sensed it!

"Hmm?"

The giant's gaze snapped toward the pit where Li Qing was hiding, his lantern-like eyes narrowing.

Damn! His spiritual perception is this sharp?!

A chill ran down Li Qing's spine. He immediately prepared to flee, knowing he stood little chance against this giant. The creature's fleshly body was at least at the fifth-tier level!

"Oximus," the giant murmured, hoisting his club onto his shoulder and striding toward Li Qing.

Each step covered hundreds of meters, and in moments, he was looming over the pit.

Li Qing, who had been about to escape at lightning speed using his Wind-Thunder Silver Wings, slowly stopped. He sensed no malice emanating from the giant.

Reaching the edge of the pit, the giant crouched down, his massive presence casting an oppressive shadow that blocked out most of the sunlight.

"Okasirilius," the giant spoke to Li Qing.

Li Qing couldn't understand a word. He forced a wry smile and replied in his native tongue, "Forgive me, Excellency. I ascended from the lower realm and haven't yet learned your language."

"Perhaps we should communicate through divine sense?" Li Qing suggested, immediately transmitting his words via divine sense.

However, the giant reacted with extreme aversion, blocking Li Qing's divine sense at the edge of his sea of consciousness. His expression turned wary, and his grip tightened on the bone club.

Seeing this, Li Qing felt a headache coming on. He had no idea what taboo he had violated. Perhaps divine sense transmission carried some specific significance or etiquette within the spirit realm or among the Giant Clan.

"Sayanah," the giant muttered, scratching his cheek with a thick finger, his expression troubled.

Li Qing frowned deeply. He had never imagined that the first race he would encounter upon arriving in the spirit realm would be the Giant Clan.

The good news was that this clan seemed to harbor no ill will toward humans, maintaining a neutral stance.

After a moment's thought, Li Qing's eyes lit up. He remembered a language he had learned in the lower realmβ€”ancient demonic language!

In the next instant, Li Qing addressed the giant in the ancient demonic language of the demon realm: "Greetings, mighty warrior. I am a human cultivator who has ascended from the lower realm. May I ask which continent of the spirit realm this is? Do you know if there are any human settlements nearby?"

The moment the giant heard the syllables from Li Qing's mouth, his eyes widened, a fierce glint appearing in them as he raised his bone club high.

But after Li Qing finished speaking, the giant hesitated, lowering the club, though his expression remained hostile.

Then, in a somewhat clumsy accent, the giant replied in the ancient demonic language:

"A human cultivator who ascended from the lower realm? Why haven't you learned the Spirit Realm Common Language?"

Relieved that the giant understood the ancient demonic language, Li Qing sighed in relief and explained, "Our minor world has been lost for ages, cut off from the Spirit Realm. We had no way to learn the Spirit Realm Common Language!"

Upon hearing that Li Qing had ascended from a lost minor world, the giant's gaze shifted, his eyes sweeping Li Qing from head to toe with renewed scrutiny.

Clearly, this was utterly inconceivable to him.

And so, a human who had ascended from the lower realm and a native giant of the Spirit Realm found themselves communicating in the ancient demonic language of the demon realm.

The giant seemed to find this odd as well. "Open a portion of your sea of consciousness," he said. "I will transmit both the Spirit Realm Common Language and my clan's language to you."

Li Qing considered this. The giant's divine sense was strong but not superior to his own, roughly at the mid divine transformation realm.

Li Qing sealed off most of his sea of consciousness, leaving only a small portion open.

Soon, two complex and systematic languages flooded into his mind. After cross-referencing them with the ancient demonic language and the languages of the human realm, he finally mastered the Spirit Realm Common Language and the language of the Giant Clan.

It's worth noting that the Giant Clan calls themselves the Giant Spirit Race and worship an ancestor known as the Great Spirit Godβ€”an immortal who ascended to the immortal realm in an age beyond reckoning!

Li Qing's expression turned solemn with reverence. He hadn't expected to hear legends of true immortals so soon after arriving in the Spirit Realm.

This confirmed the upper realm's extraordinary nature. The giant before him could even be considered a descendant of a true immortal, though how many generations removed remained unknown.

Through their conversation, Li Qing learned that the continent he was on was called Tonggu Continent, located in a relatively remote region of the Spirit Realm.

On this continent, the Giant Spirit Race was a formidable power, essentially the dominant force.

"The human race on Tonggu Continent has established a city-state, which is a vassal of one of our Giant Spirit clans," the giant said. "If you wish to go there, I can guide you."

The human race is merely a vassal?!

Upon hearing this, a complex expression flickered across Li Qing's face. It seemed the human race indeed held a low status in the spirit realm, having been reduced to vassals of other races on this continent.

"Does that surprise you? The spirit realm is teeming with powerful races. Humans who don't belong to their own mainland must align themselves with stronger clans to survive."

"You're actually quite fortunate to have fallen into the northern region of the Tonggu Continent. Had you landed in the south, your life would be in grave danger."

The giant treated Li Qing with surprising respect, not as a vassal but as an equal.

The mention of "grave danger" startled Li Qing. He immediately inquired about the threats lurking in the southern Tonggu Continent.

The giant explained truthfully, "The Forest of Tree Spirits. It's a vast area teeming with dryads and tree demons, who harbor an intense hatred for both humans and the Giant Spirit Race. Even an ordinary-looking tree there could be an ancient tree demon in disguise."

The tree demon clan!

Li Qing had heard of them in the lower realmβ€”a race fiercely hostile to humans. He never imagined they would actually exist on the Tonggu Continent!

"Don't worry too much. Our clan recently concluded a prolonged war with the tree demon clan, and high-level negotiations are underway."

"Your human race made significant contributions during the war. You'll receive ample rewards for your efforts."
