The battlefield had become unrecognizable.
What was once a structured city was now a graveyard of shattered buildings, burning vehicles, and scattered bodies. The sky remained torn open, glowing with violent purple fractures as demons continued pouring into the world without end.
Lucan stood at the center of the chaos, his breathing steady but his eyes sharp. Around him, his squad fought desperately, each of them pushing back waves of creatures that refused to stop coming.
Minato landed beside him, his coat torn and stained, wind swirling violently around his body.
"Lucan," he said firmly, "stay alert. Renji is out there. If he's moving… he's coming for you."
Lucan nodded slightly. "I figured."
Before another word could be exchanged, the ground beneath them split apart with a violent tremor. A massive demon burst through the street, roaring as it slammed into the squad, forcing them apart instantly.
Everything happened at once.
Takeshi was thrown across the street, crashing through a broken wall.
Minato was forced back by a sudden surge of demons, cutting him off completely.
Reika and Lyra were separated in opposite directions as the battlefield swallowed them whole.
Lucan reached out instinctively. "Stay together—!"
But it was too late.
They were already divided.
Minato's Battle – The Calm Within the Storm
Minato landed lightly atop a collapsed structure, his eyes scanning the battlefield in an instant. His surroundings were filled with high-level demons, their presence suffocating.
Then he felt it.
A shift in the air.
A presence far more refined than the rest.
From within the smoke, a tall demon stepped forward, its body sleek, its movements controlled. The air around it warped unnaturally, reacting to its existence.
Minato exhaled slowly.
"So… you're not like the others."
The demon didn't respond. It simply vanished.
Minato's eyes narrowed.
The attack came instantly.
A violent force tore through the air toward him, but Minato moved with precision, his body flowing with the wind itself. He sidestepped, countering immediately with a sharp motion of his blade.
A powerful gust exploded outward, tearing through buildings and forcing the demon back.
Minato didn't chase.
He observed.
Analyzed.
Every movement. Every reaction. Every shift in pressure.
"You're fast," he muttered. "But not unpredictable."
The demon attacked again, faster this time, more aggressive.
Minato closed his eyes for a brief moment.
Then everything slowed.
The wind whispered to him.
Guided him.
He moved just before each strike landed, his body slipping through attacks with near-perfect timing. His blade danced through the air, each strike more precise than the last.
Then, in a single moment, he saw it.
An opening.
Minato stepped forward.
"End."
The wind around him compressed violently into a single point before exploding outward.
The strike landed.
Silence followed.
The demon's body split cleanly as the force passed through it, its form collapsing into nothingness.
Minato stood still, exhaling slowly as the wind around him settled.
"No matter how strong you are…" he said quietly, "without control, you're just noise."
Takeshi crashed into the ground hard, blood dripping from his forehead as he struggled to stand.
In front of him stood a towering demon, its body massive, its presence overwhelming. Each step it took cracked the ground beneath it.
Takeshi wiped his mouth, breathing heavily.
"My life has been pretty simple… not much going on."
The demon moved.
Too fast.
A punch slammed into him, sending him flying across the street. He crashed, rolled, then forced himself back up, legs shaking.
"But there was one thing I always knew…"
Another hit.
This time stronger.
His body hit the ground harder, pain surging through every part of him.
"I wanted to be a hunter."
The demon didn't stop. It grabbed him and slammed him into the ground repeatedly, each impact heavier than the last.
"Everyone said I couldn't do it…"
Takeshi coughed, blood spilling from his lips as he struggled to breathe.
"They said I wasn't special…"
The demon raised its arm to finish it.
Then—
Electricity cracked.
Takeshi's body sparked violently as lightning surged across his skin.
"But I proved them wrong."
The demon struck.
Takeshi disappeared.
A thunderclap exploded through the battlefield.
He reappeared behind the demon, moving faster than before, his body wrapped in pure lightning.
"I can't lose."
The demon turned, but Takeshi was already gone again.
Another strike.
Another flash.
Faster.
Stronger.
His movements became erratic, unpredictable, overwhelming.
The demon adapted quickly, catching him mid-motion and slamming him into the ground again.
The impact shattered the street.
Takeshi screamed in pain.
But he stood up again.
"I have to become stronger."
The lightning around him intensified, growing brighter, wilder.
The demon attacked again.
Takeshi didn't dodge.
He charged straight into it.
Their clash shook the entire area.
Blow after blow, he kept moving, kept attacking, even as his body broke down. Every hit he took only pushed him further.
Faster.
Stronger.
Beyond his limits.
Until—
Everything went silent.
A blinding flash erupted from his body.
The air itself trembled.
When the light faded, Takeshi stood still, electricity flowing around him like a storm given form.
The demon lunged.
It never reached him.
In a single instant, Takeshi moved.
One strike.
The world cracked with thunder.
The demon's body froze… then split apart, collapsing to the ground.
Takeshi stood there, breathing heavily, his body barely holding together.
"…I told you," he muttered weakly.
"I'm not losing."
Then his legs gave out, and he dropped to one knee, the lightning slowly fading as the battlefield continued to rage around him.
