"What would you do anyway?" Selina asked, narrowing her eyes at him. "Storm into the company and claim the baby you rejected? Reveal that you're my husband and that everything was a frame-up? Maybe pull strings through my grandfather so I don't get fired? Who would believe any of that without evidence?"
Zane remained silent, knowing she had perfectly calculated the exact path he would have taken.
"Even though that could change everything... you don't want me to do it?" he asked, finally lifting his gaze to hers.
"Yes. Our marriage stays hidden until we go our separate ways," she declared, her hands curling into tight fists. "I'm glad I restored my own dignity without anyone's favors."
"Right. You did well, Selina. Staying brave and unscathed to get through this." he whispered, his voice carrying a weight of pridefulness.
Selina couldn't utter a word, watching him slip out his hand from the pocket of his pants and hold it out towards her.
