Blake's voice cracked slightly as he stumbled forward, clutching his bruised ribs with one hand while using his ruined, punctured shield for balance with the other.
The rest of the exhausted group—Alec, Eve, Curtis, Aoi, and Adelle—converged near the center of the shattered room, their breathing ragged and shallow. Every single one of them looked like they were running on pure fumes, their bodies battered from the relentless onslaught of the crazed majin.
Raven slowly pushed himself up from the fractured concrete floor, cradling his broken wrist against his chest with a sharp pain. His dark eyes flicked from the crater where the majin had landed to the imposing figure of Professor Kendy, who stood unmoving at the edge of the room.
The air was still thick with the lingering stench of scorched stone and dark demonic energy, but the suffocating pressure that had been crushing them all a moment ago had finally receded just a fraction.
