Chapter 745 - chapter 3 part 7

"Harry," Ragnok began, fuming, "we are...quite frankly, we are horrified." Harry's eyes widened, and began to water.

His older side that came back from the old timeline knew it was irrational to react like this, but his younger side had been conditioned that way. If an adult was angry, Harry was somehow to blame. His pulse quickened and his body trembled, as he desperately fought to rein in his fear and anxiety.

"H-horrified?" Harry repeated nervously. The goblins, at least, did not seem to notice his disquiet in their anger.

"What has been done to you, is monstrous and criminal!" Ragnok spat, furiously. "If your relatives were here, in our bank, I would throw them into our dragon enclosures and watch as they were devoured alive!" The Director took a deep breath to calm himself and chase away the bloodlust. "Harry, I would like your permission for our healers to record evidence of your injuries before healing them." Initially relieved that they were not angry with him, he quickly became guarded as Ragnok asked his question.

"What for?" Harry asked suspiciously.

"To allow the Ministry of Magic to pursue charges against them for their crimes," Ragnok replied coolly, still trying to control his anger.

"Oh, I see." Harry replied quietly, silently debating whether involving the ministry was worth the risk. "Are you sure we can't just throw them to the dragons?" He joked weakly.

"I wish we could," Ragnok chuckled, before sobering, "but unfortunately, current treaties with the Ministry prevent us from doing so." Harry nodded in understanding. "The treaties do not, however, stop us from assisting you with bringing charges." He then smiled, in an almost predatory fashion. "Nor do they prevent us from utterly ruining the Dursley's financially..." A similar smile quickly grew across Harry's face, and they shared a laugh.

"Alright," Harry replied, after some contemplation, "you have my permission," he smiled at the Director, "and my thanks..." Ragnok smiled back and nodded.

"You are welcome, Harry." Ragnok said. "I have a contact within the Department of Magical Law Enforcement. I will ask her to come to the bank soon, and report the matter to her."

The examination had quickly continued, with the healers now making detailed notes and taking photographs of the injuries he had sustained for evidence, but also discussing a treatment plan for him. Unfortunately, there was no quick fix for these types of injuries, and only a regular potions regimen, some spell work, and frequent exercise would start to fix the damage. The healers were hopeful, however, that by the time he travelled to Hogwarts, he would be well on his way to recovery.

As the medical exam drew to a close, one of the healers decided to cast a final diagnostic spell for curse damage, to cover all bases. It was this spell that found the darker spells Harry had wanted them to find. As the spell washed over Harry, a dark pulsating purple light shone around his head, drawing bewildered looks from the healers. They hurriedly cast a few more spells to clarify what they were seeing, and their confusion turned to horror.

Once more, they stepped away from Harry to discuss the find in their native tongue, explaining to Ragnok exactly what they had found. Harry knew full well what they had found, and fought to repress a smile as he saw the appalled look on the goblin's face.

"Harry, our healers have discovered two pieces of concerning magic that have been cast upon you." The Director informed him grimly, as he returned to the young wizard. "They are both extremely dark and dangerous pieces of magic." With a very unsettled look on his face, Harry swallowed the lump in his throat.

"D-dark magic?" Harry asked uncertainly, trying his best to look in the dark about it. "What sort of dark magic?" Ragnok shared a hesitant look with the healers, before continuing.

"The first is a highly illegal offshoot of Legilimency," the Director explained, "a branch of magic used to read minds." He elaborated, seeing Harry's confusion. "It is called Legilivultuncy." Harry frowned.

"What does it do?" He asked worriedly.

"To put it simply, it is personality alteration magic." Ragnok answered. "A magical can use it to forcibly alter someone's mind, and shape its development in the way they choose." Harry gasped in horror.

"Alter my..." he trailed off, deeply shocked, "and this has been cast on me?!" He demanded angrily. The goblin nodded.

"I am afraid so." Ragnok replied. Seeing the outrage on the wizard's face, he hastened to continue. "There is good news, though, Harry. The charm is a long-term spell, and the effects are cumulative. It would appear that the spell was not cast that long ago, so the damage is minimal. Our healers can undo it easily." Harry, however, was not pacified by that news.

"That's as maybe, but this is a violation of the highest order," Harry spat angrily, as he jumped up and paced around the examination table, "altering my very being! My very essence!" He spun around to look at Ragnok. "Is there any way to know who cast it?" The goblin shook his head.

"I'm afraid not." The Director replied. "As there are no magical traces, there is no way to tell who cast such despicable magic on a child." He paused for a moment. "However, based on everything else we have found out today, I think we can make an educated guess." Ragnok finished darkly. Harry nodded in understanding, his jaw tight.

"Dumbledore..." Harry hissed, and the goblin nodded. "I will have my revenge on that old man for this, I swear it!" Taking a deep breath to calm himself down, he looked back to the Director. "And the other piece of magic?" Ragnok nodded.

"The other piece of magic is just as dark, if not darker than the first." The goblin explained grimly. "There appears to be what we call a 'horcrux' lodged behind your curse scar."

"And that is?" Harry questioned, though already knowing the answer.

"And that is?" Harry questioned, though already knowing the answer.

"To put it simply," Ragnok answered, "a 'horcrux' is a soul fragment which is not native to your body." Harry stared at him in sheer horror.

"A soul?!" He exclaimed frantically. "I have someone else's soul in my forehead?!"

"Calm yourself, Harry," Ragnok reassured him, "you need not be so worried. It is only a weak, broken shard, not a complete soul, so the danger to you is minimal. This is also something our healers can remedy quickly and easily." Upon hearing that, Harry took a calming deep breath and closed his eyes.

"It can be removed without hurting me?" Harry asked, to which Ragnok nodded. "Right, ok, nothing to be too worried about then, right?" Again, the goblin's shared a look.

"Yes and no," Ragnok replied. "The worry is not so much the fact it was there, but rather to whom the soul belongs..." Harry frowned at the explanation.

"And who does the fragment belong to?" Harry asked curiously. Ragnok did not reply immediately, formulating his words, before continuing.

"How much do you know about the night you received your curse scar?" Ragnok asked evasively.

"Not much," Harry replied, "my relatives told me I got it in a car crash that killed my parents, but Mr Hagrid told me I got it from a dark wizard..." Ragnok nodded.
