Asher sat on a park bench, lazily licking a popsicle as he watched children play on the nearby swings.
Located in one of the more affluent districts of the city, the park was full of vibrant greenery and pleasant shade. The filtered air was crisp and clean. Everything here looked spotless and new.
He had been tasked with watching Ashera. Not that it mattered. Kido and Gemma were busy, and that strange babysitter… Erina… was already handling everything.
'Erina…'
Something about her wasn't right.
[Spectral Sight] still showed her soul clearly. She wasn't Awakened. That much was certain. So she was likely not affiliated to any of the clans. Or was she..? Asher scratched his head. He couldn't pinpoint what was off about her...
"Gods! Somebody, help! D-dead, he's dead!"
Breaking his thoughts, Asher's eyes narrowed. He quickly turned to Erina, "Take Ashera back home. I'll come." Erina nodded as he quickly made his way to the commotion.
By the time he reached the crowd, a young man sat slumped in a chair—lifeless.
Dead.
Asher crouched slightly, eyes narrowing.
"How…"
He looked around, quickly glancing at everyone.
Then, he found it.
It was a child. Blond hair and blue eyes. The eyes... He was slowly walking to a woman Asher presumed to be his mother.
Asher stared at the boy with narrowed eyes, for a second, the looked looked back. Asher quickly smiled as he looked at the boy.
That was definitely him.
The Prince of Nothing.
Asher couldn't really do much right now, since the child wasn't his vessel. In fact, Mordret was just inhibiting the child's eyes. But he was sure, a smile was enough. Enough for Mordret to acknowledge him. Enough to say, 'I don't want funny business near me..'
***
'That was definitely him.'
Mordret didn't have much time to see the figure but he could feel the silent pressure that surrounded him.
'Echo of the Abyss… I believe.'
He was yet, another unfortunate soul who had his back targeted by the Great clans. His situation was much too similar to his really... No.. Unlike Mordret, poor Asher had two clans after him... which was good for him! Who knows? Maybe they could be friends!
Interesting.
The child turned slightly, allowing Mordret to steal another glance.
Their eyes met.
Asher smiled.
A flicker of excitement stirred.
'…How interesting.'
He could see him.
That was a problem... a problem indeed.
After all, Asher belonged to the detestable Changing Star's cohort. Mordret wanted to sigh, 'I doubt we can become friends Asher...'

A couple of days after meeting Mordret, Asher stood before a quaint house, whistling softly. Two suitcases floated behind him as he stepped forward.
He opened the door, took a deep breath, and shouted—
"SUNNY! I'M HOME!"
A shadow instantly rippled as Sunny emerged from it, his eyes snapping wide. "You idiot! This is a neighbourhood! Meep your voice down!"
Asher smirked, seemingly proud of himself as he snapped his fingers.
One of the suitcases burst open midair. Tubs of ice cream floated out and streamed straight into the fridge.
Sunny watched in horror as his groceries were unceremoniously displaced—replaced entirely by ice cream.
Asher watched, his face turning sour. There was no place left and he still had a tub of ice cream left.
"Sunny, are you broke or something? Buy a bigger fridge man." Sunny turned to Asher with his tongue bitten. Asher could even see his eyes turning a bit red.
"I didn't need one till you came..."
Sunny had nearly forgotten how annoying this bastard was...
He looked back at the counter.
His ingredients were piled carelessly...
His entire fridge only had goddamn ice cream! Asher waved his hand as the tube of ice cream floated towards him as he neatly sat in the sofa, making himself comfortable.
A spoon flew from the kitchen as Asher slowly willed the remote near him. A frown appeared on his face. The buttons on this remote... they were way to complicated! He turned to Sunny as the spoon fed him ice cream.
"Hwey Suwnny, How dwo you use tis thing."
Sunny felt his jaw slacken, his mouth open. At this point, Sunny wasn't even mad, rather, he was shocked.
This guy... He was so shameless!
Like... how? Does he not have an ounce of shame?!
"Asher... I want to remind you that this is my home." Sunny spat. Asher turned to him raising a brow as he swallowed his ice cream. "So?"
He smiled, "A friends home is my home!"
Sunny was a loss for words. "it doesn't work like that!" Asher frowned, "Who said?"
Sunny openned his mouth to continue but closed it. Pressing both his fingers at the bridge of his nose, Sunny sighed. 'It's not worth it.'
He glanced at Asher once more as he turned back, "You do you, I am going down to train." Asher grimaced, "Wait, turn on this stupid projector!"
Sunny waved it off, "Figure it out."
Asher sighed as he turned to the remote, pressing random buttons. "Oh yeah, I met your friend."
Sunny paused.
"…What do you mean?"
Asher didn't even look at him, yawning instead.
"The Prince of Nothing."
Sunny froze.
"…What?"
