I. The Pulse of the New World
The city breathed.
Edenfall, three weeks after its rebirth, had become something never before seen in human history: a living, conscious city, where the Tree of Eden and the Void coexisted in a harmony as perfect as it was dangerous.
The roots served as energy pathways. The rebuilt towers rose amidst filaments of liquid crystal.
And the sky—divided between golden radiance and dark mist—reflected the balance that Akihiko had established.
From atop the Central Shrine, Akihiko watched the sunrise.
The wind carried a subtle murmur: voices from the Tree that only he could hear.
— "Balance breathes… but it doesn't sleep." — one of them whispered.
Akihiko closed his eyes. His perception expanded beyond the city.
He could feel every beat of Edenfall as if it were his own heartbeat. Every soul, every flow of energy, every collective thought… were part of his consciousness.
But among those echoes there was a different frequency.
Cold. Precise. Artificial. A mind that did not belong in Eden.
" They're here," he murmured.
II. Kaede and the Fragile Peace
In the central plaza, Kaede watched the new inhabitants rebuild the outer districts.
Children played among luminous roots that moved gently, workers and technicians mixed machinery with organic matter, and priests of the Tree blessed the new energy channels.
Edenfall was a community again… albeit a different one.
But Kaede knew that calm never lasted.
Sael approached with his holographic tablet.
"The sensors detect a change in the core flow. Someone is observing us from outside the energy perimeter." "Again?" Kaede asked, tensing. "Yes. And it's not just anything. It's not military, nor civilian. It's a signal with ancient coding… from before the Fall of Eden."
Kaede narrowed her eyes.
"So Akihiko was right. The outside world is watching us."
Sael lowered his voice.
"What I don't understand is how. The Tree's field blocks all types of transmission. For a signal to penetrate, it must come from..." "Within the Void's flow itself," Kaede finished, completing his sentence.
They looked at each other.
They knew that something much bigger was moving beyond the horizon.
III. The Council of Dawn – The Voice of the Cold
Thousands of kilometers away, beneath the mountains of Siberia, the Council of Dawn convened once more.
The circular hall was illuminated by a pale light emanating from the floor, and in the center floated the hologram of Edenfall.
Aldrich Valen stood before his eleven advisors.
His bionic eye glowed red as he analyzed the city's energy. "Its core has reached 93% stability. Edenfall is now the most powerful point on the planet. No other energy grid can match it."
Eris Nocturne watched him with an almost poetic smile.
"It's beautiful... like seeing a tamed star." "Don't be fooled," Aldrich replied. "That which shines can also devour."
At one end of the table, Tobias Kroll sat silently, his gaze fixed on the projection of the Tree.
His left arm was mechanical, composed of energy alloys extracted from his brother Draven's body. His breathing was heavy, barely controlled by a chest implant.
" Draven… " she whispered. "Everything you built, everything you bled for, he destroyed it with a single gesture."
Aldrich turned to him.
"Tobias. The time for personal vengeance is over. Now we fight for the entire world." Tobias looked up, a wild gleam in his eyes. "No. I fight for my brother's memory. The world can wait."
A tense silence fell over the place.
Eris spoke up, her voice soft but venomous: "If you let hatred guide you, you'll end up like him."
Tobias smiled with a bitter grimace.
"I'd rather end up like him than live under the reign of a false god."
Aldrich slammed his fist on the table.
"Enough. Project Helios will begin in seven days.
Our objective: isolate Edenfall, disconnect its core, and expose Akihiko Sora's weakness."
He stood up, looking at the holographic map.
"This man altered the very nature of existence. We will not allow him to do it again."
IV. The Shadows of Tobias
Hours later, Tobias Kroll walked alone through the Council's underground hangar.
The air was thick with the smell of metal and ozone. Around him, hundreds of cryogenic capsules contained sleeping soldiers, part of Project Neogenesis : humans enhanced with Tree DNA and Void nanotechnology.
Tobias stopped in front of capsule number 07.
Inside floated a female figure with silver hair and luminous skin. — "Unit Liria-07. Stable mind control. No prior memories." —the monitor indicated.
Tobias touched the glass with his metal hand.
"You will not be a weapon. You will be a message. The new Eden will see what it destroyed."
A soldier approached, looking nervous.
"Sir, Council orders forbid activating units before the protocol." Tobias stared at him blankly. "And who says we obey new gods?"
One blow, and the soldier fell lifeless.
The capsule opened slowly, releasing icy vapor. The woman opened her eyes. Her pupils were an empty gray, reflecting nothingness.
"Who... am I?" she asked, her voice trembling.
"It doesn't matter," Tobias replied . "From now on, you will be my sword.
Your name... is Liria Kroll ."
V. Akihiko's Vision
In the Central Sanctuary, Akihiko meditated before the core.
The flow of energy surrounded him like a calm ocean. But suddenly, an image pierced his vision: an unfamiliar face, a gray-eyed woman awakening amidst steam and steel. And behind her, the shadow of Tobias.
The emptiness inside him vibrated.
The Tree spoke in his mind:
"The past is not buried… it sprouts."
Akihiko opened his eyes, startled.
Kaede and Sael entered at that moment.
"What's going on?" Kaede asked.
"Someone is creating artificial life... using Pieces of Eden," Akihiko replied . "
The Council is trying to replicate what we did here."
Sael frowned.
"Copy the balance? That's impossible." "They're not seeking balance," Akihiko said quietly. "They're seeking revenge."
He rose slowly, his golden cloak billowing in the wind.
"If Dawn prepares… so do we."
Kaede looked at him, knowing what that meant.
Edenfall would once again be a battlefield.
VI. The Dawn of the Conflict
A week later, the Council's first ship rose above the horizon.
Invisible to the human eye, covered by camouflage technology, its shadow was cast over the new Eden.
Inside, Tobias watched the energy readings while Liria stood silently beside him.
"Ready to see the darkness reborn?" he asked, a smile dripping with hatred.
Liria slowly turned her face toward the window.
"What is born today... will not be darkness. It will be destiny."
Tobias didn't quite understand those words. But the gleam in her eyes made him hesitate… for a moment.
VII. The Awakened Guardian
Edenfall shuddered.
The Tree pulsed faster, as if sensing the threat. Akihiko, standing atop the core, opened his eyes. His dual aura blazed, sweeping through the city like a wave of pure energy.
Kaede, from the south tower, watched it slowly rise into the air.
The sky began to divide between light and darkness.
The first confrontation between the Guardian of Eden and the Council of Dawn was about to begin.
Akihiko spoke, his voice echoing throughout the city:
" I will not bring destruction. But if the world wishes to test Eden... Eden will answer."
And the air exploded in a golden shockwave that covered the entire border of Edenfall, forming a living shield around the city.
🕯️ End of Chapter 290
The balance has ended its initial peace.
The Council of Dawn launches its first movement, led by Tobias Kroll and his new creation, Liria , the artificial daughter of Eden.
Akihiko senses the connection between these two powers and prepares for the first great energy war of the new world.
Edenfall officially becomes the Nexus of Rebirth , and the following dawn will be remembered as the beginning of the Age of Balance and Rebellion.
