The Chapter get Retranslated
"There really are many powerful Pokémon in the Yunheng Mountain Range."
After leaving with the captured Scyther, Mew helped Jiang Chen locate another formidable opponent: an Aggron at Heavenly King Rank 9.
The Aggron stared intently at Jiang Chen's group. It clearly did not welcome these humans who had suddenly intruded upon its territory. This wasn't a solitary creature; alongside the Aggron were several Aron and Lairon. This place was home to an entire Aggron tribe, and the Rank 9 Aggron was their leader.
"It doesn't seem to want us here," Xiao Luoxue noted, observing the creature's thunderous roar.
"It certainly doesn't," Jiang Chen nodded.
That roar was a warning to leave. If they didn't retreat soon, the tribal leader was going to take action.
Jiang Chen stepped forward and addressed the massive Pokémon. "Aggron, how about a battle? If you can defeat my Pokémon, I'll leave immediately. Furthermore, I promise never to reveal the location of your tribe to outsiders. I imagine you value your privacy."
Hearing the challenge, the Aggron nodded. It did not fear combat. In this region, there were few Pokémon stronger than it, save for a few monsters living deep within the heart of the mountains.
"Come out, Dragonite!"
Jiang Chen released Dragonite, intending to let it handle the fight. However, just as the battle was about to begin, Gardevoir reached out and gently tugged on his hand.
"Gardevoir!"
She indicated that she wanted to be the one to face the Aggron.
"You want to fight it?" Jiang Chen asked, easily reading her intent.
Gardevoir nodded eagerly. It had been quite some time since she had a chance to show off, and she was itching for a challenge. She was confident; although she was only at Heavenly King Rank 8, she knew she could hold her own against a Rank 9 opponent.
"Alright then, I'll leave it to you, Gardevoir."
Jiang Chen didn't refuse. Whether it was Dragonite or Gardevoir, the outcome would be the same.
"Mew, create a barrier. Let's make sure we don't destroy the surroundings," Jiang Chen said to the little phantom.
This was the Aggron's home. If they leveled the place, the creature would likely fight to the death in a blind rage. Jiang Chen had no desire to truly antagonize the tribe.
Creating an energy shield was a simple task for Mew, and with the incentive of lollipops from Jiang Chen, it was more than happy to oblige.
"The battle will take place inside here so it won't affect anything else," Jiang Chen told the Aggron.
The Aggron walked up to the energy shield and slammed its fist against the barrier. When the shield didn't even flicker under its full strength, the leader accepted the terms.
In terms of type advantages, Gardevoir was at a disadvantage. As a Steel and Rock type Pokémon, Aggron naturally countered Gardevoir's Fairy typing. However, Aggron was a popular choice among trainers precisely because its combat power was far from weak.
"Aren't you going to give her orders? You'll be heartbroken if she gets hurt by that big guy," Ling Wanqiu said, standing beside Jiang Chen.
"Don't worry," Jiang Chen replied with a relaxed expression. "I'm really not concerned about Gardevoir fighting an Aggron."
On paper, the typing favored the Aggron, but in terms of fighting styles, Gardevoir held the absolute advantage. Aggron possessed incredible Physical Defense, but Gardevoir specialized in Special Attacks. No matter how high its Physical Defense was, it wouldn't help against her.
The battle began with the Aggron taking the initiative, using Tackle to charge toward Gardevoir like a runaway train.
"Garde!"
Gardevoir looked at the brute with a hint of disdain. She had far too much experience dealing with such cumbersome opponents. She didn't even need to use Teleport; she simply sidestepped, easily dodging the impact.
After evading the charge, Gardevoir balled her hand into a fist and struck the Aggron's side.
It was an unbelievable sight. The Aggron's massive, heavy body was sent tumbling more than ten meters away. It was as if a frail-looking mage had just punched a heavy tank across the room.
After the strike, Gardevoir shook her fist, looking a bit regretful. She had wanted to show Jiang Chen that her physical strength wasn't lacking, but she hadn't expected the Aggron's hide to be quite that hard. Her hand was throbbing.
"Is Gardevoir trying to be a comedian?" Xiao Luoxue couldn't help but laugh. "Attacking the enemy's strongest point with her own weakest attribute?"
Gardevoir caught the laughter and, believing Xiao Luoxue was mocking her, she grew annoyed. Since she couldn't do anything to Xiao Luoxue, she turned her mounting frustration toward the Aggron.
The Aggron scrambled to its feet, having a minor existential crisis. It had just been sent flying by a slender Gardevoir and by a punch, no less. It was humiliating.
The Aggron roared in fury and unleashed a Flash Cannon. Gardevoir didn't even move to dodge; she simply manifested a barrier with her mind, the Psychic energy completely neutralizing the beam.
Unleashing her full mental power, Gardevoir used Psychic to lift the three-to-four-hundred-kilogram Aggron into the air as if it were a toy. She tossed it dozens of meters into the sky before letting it plummet. Even with a body forged like steel, the impact of the fall dealt significant damage.
Dazed and struggling to stand, the Aggron was hit again by a concentrated Psychic blast. Gardevoir followed up with Future Sight and a barrage of Magical Leaf, essentially carpet-bombing the tribal leader.
"Is she really that strong? The Aggron can't even fight back!"
Ling Wanqiu and Xiao Luoxue watched in stunned silence. This was almost overkill. The Aggron was technically a higher rank, yet it was being completely suppressed.
"Gardevoir is indeed powerful," Jiang Chen noted.
By staying at Jiang Chen's side every day, her power was constantly being augmented by the Mind Plate and the Pixie Plate. She was growing stronger every second. Though she was Rank 8, her actual combat effectiveness far exceeded a Rank 9.
"Aggron!"
The tribal leader roared, forcing itself up through the relentless assault. Its feet sank deep into the soil as it was pushed back by the sheer force of Gardevoir's attacks.
Refusing to be a punching bag, the Aggron launched a counter-attack, firing a massive Hyper Beam.
With a flicker of Teleport, Gardevoir vanished and reappeared directly behind the Aggron. She slammed another Psychic blast into its back, sending it crashing forward, before finishing it off with a Hyper Beam of her own.
Under the continuous bombardment, the Aggron finally hit its limit. As Jiang Chen had noted, its Special Defense was mediocre compared to its physical armor. Gardevoir's special attacks bypassed its greatest strength entirely.
THUD!
The heavy body collapsed to the ground, kicking up a cloud of dust. It no longer had the strength to continue.
"And that's it. Aggron didn't even touch her once," Ling Wanqiu said, her expression one of pure bewilderment. Anyone watching might think the massive Aggron was just for show, but the truth was simply that Gardevoir was too powerful.
"It would have been dangerous if she had been hit," Jiang Chen admitted. Gardevoir was fragile and couldn't take much punishment. If the Aggron had managed to land a few major hits, it would be her lying on the ground instead.
Fortunately, she was far too agile. The Aggron couldn't even graze her.
Gardevoir floated back to Jiang Chen's side, waiting expectantly for his praise.
"Beautifully done, Gardevoir."
Jiang Chen didn't disappoint her. He praised her performance and even rewarded her with a piece of candy.
It was a brilliant victory. For a Pokémon that lacked agility and speed, fighting Gardevoir was a nightmare. They couldn't even touch her; they could only stand there and take the beating.
