Natasha looked at the burned figure of Kakashi that Quicksilver carried on to them.
"Is he fine?" She asked with genuine worry.
Pietro replied, "He has burns all around his body but I am sure he will live. He is a pretty tough guy. But damn dude got a pretty face behind that mask."
As she looked at his face that was marred with very few burns, she could admit that he looked pretty. The mask had hidden sharp features. A straight nose. High cheekbones. A strong jaw. His hair was silver and messy from the fight.
Even with the burns and dirt, there was a quiet handsomeness to him. Natasha had tried and hoped to unmask him in so many ways to find his identity but she never imagined that he would have his face revealed after a fight.
She ran a finger through his unmasked face. 'Why was he hiding his face? I would have imagined he did not feel comfortable with his identity being revealed or that he had scars to hide but this does not seem to be anything like that.'
"Let me through. Let me through. I want to see what the man of wonders looks like too." Tony came through running as if he wanted to see Miss Universe.
He whistled. "Don't tell him but damn that guy has got a pretty face. Prettier than me. I am jealous."
Tony leaned in closer, tilting his head. "I mean, look at those cheekbones. If he took off the mask earlier, I would have asked him to model for Stark Industries cologne. We could sell millions. Wait, does he even shave? That jawline is criminal. I feel personally attacked right now."
Natasha rolled her eyes but couldn't hide a small smile. Tony's humor cut through the tension like always. Even in the middle of a battlefield with two universes at risk, he found time to joke. It was one of the things she secretly appreciated about him.
Natasha then turned towards Jean who was floating back down. The energy she was releasing was going back inside her. There were symbols that had being imprinted down to her skin through her clothing by Kakashi.
She did not know what the symbols meant or what they did but she knew that it was Fuinjutsu something that Kakashi had told them was an art that a shinobi could specialize in along with Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Genjutsu, Bukijutsu etc.
She then looked at Kakashi. Someone who had managed to make Avengers work with each other. Someone who managed to complete SHIELD missions like no other person. Someone who could take down Hulk and Abomination at the same time. Someone who held back the entire Chitauri invasion on his own, had been injured so badly by this girl. She could not help but worry what would have happened to them if he was not here.
She saw Banner inspecting Kakashi and said, "The injuries are not bad neither are the burns. It seems that he has just fainted. And from what he has told me about chakra, he is suffering from level 1 chakra exhaustion i.e. when you have exhausted your entire chakra reserves to 0 percent without letting them recover. Thus his body has 0 energy to function. He should be able to wake up in a day or so as his chakra recovers."
Natasha let out a breath of relief as she heard Charles saying, "Whatever he had done has managed to seal the energy that is influencing Jean."
He continued as he frowned, "But I don't think it would last."
"You are right Charles. It would not last and I would be coming back for you then," Jean said still angrily glaring at Charles and then at Kakashi.
With that Jean flew away in a last burst of what remained of that powerful energy.
Scott shouted, "JEANNN!"
Some other X-Men called out to her but to no avail.
Charles said, "She is too far gone. Let's work on Erik and then see what we can do about Apocalypse."
As Charles worked to break the mind control on Erik, Natasha looked towards where Apocalypse was. To her shock, there were only ashes of Apocalypse that remained along with particles of metal that protected him.
Tony said, "Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, the powerful wave of energy that Jean released when she tried to hit Kakashi and his Susanoo also hit Apocalypse and well he turned to ashes. He broke apart into literal matter before turning to ashes. You should have seen the look on his face, he could not even scream. Oh Jarvis even recorded it."
Everyone turned to see the horror scene of Apocalypse getting turned to ashes by what looked like remnant energy of Jean's energy on Tony's projected holographic screen.
They then turned to Kakashi in newfound respect at surviving that.
Erik who had also woken up and seen this let out a sigh. "You have put a big headache on us Charles. I told you to keep your mind meddling things to yourselves."
Erik gave a side glance to Pietro which he ignored something that did not escape Natasha.
"I have done what I thought best Erik. Tell me do you know any way we could help Jean or get her back to her senses," Charles asked.
Erik said, "There is only one person that I could see fighting her and matching Jean's current state. My daughter… Wanda."
