"I don't think there's anything for us to talk about." Chloe White sat down, looking at the impeccably dressed James Reed across from her, the smile on her face polite yet distant.
"Miss White." James said with a smile, "I know you're in love with my brother."
Chloe looked at James, her gaze flickering, then let out a sneer as she asked, "So what if I am?"
"How about this—we join forces." James wasn't angered by Chloe's attitude; he went on calmly, "As long as your career surpasses his, I think my brother will eventually notice what you're capable of, Miss White."
"The reason my brother married Sophie Wilson boils down to one thing—her connections. It's just that my brother is too shrewd; he's never really let Sophie's abilities show on the outside."
"Charles isn't that kind of person!" Chloe said with firm conviction.
James smiled, and asked unhurriedly, "Then why does my brother like Sophie, when their paths in life didn't intersect at all?"
