Jiayu followed Mu Ke for a walk outside, and by the time they returned to the Mu Family home, it was almost dinner time. She couldn't shake the feeling that the atmosphere seemed a bit different from when they had left.
Dinner was well prepared by Ms. Wang, and Jiayu took out the gifts one by one that she had brought for them. Except for Mu Xin, she didn't see any smiles on their faces; only a polite and distant curve at the corners of their mouths.
Jiayu also distinctly felt Mr. Mu's deference towards her.
Today, she heard from Mu Ke about their family's situation. Mr. Mu had an early career in politics, later switched to business, and achieved some success. After the age of thirty-five, he merged his company with a large foreign enterprise and then focused on investments.
Meanwhile, Ms. Wang pursued her studies all the way to a PhD, holding dual doctorates, and later stayed on to teach, deeply immersed in academia.
