He hurried back to the car, started it, and drove over.
Lawrence Winters ran out after him, just in time to see Kenneth's car disappear down a little path paved with colored pebbles at the entrance of the complex.
She was only one step away from catching up to him.
Lawrence clenched her fists in regret.
She lingered at the gate of the complex, wondering whether she should go back, get her car, and follow Kenneth to that three-bedroom place he'd bought.
She felt that Kenneth had probably gone back there.
As she was thinking this, she took out her phone and checked Kenneth's location.
To her surprise, he had stopped not far from here and had not gone back to his own three-bedroom apartment.
Where was he going?
Lawrence pondered, then took out her phone to carefully check the location and followed the directions over.
