The bone-defined fingers absentmindedly, or perhaps deliberately, rubbed against his palm. There was a long scar in the center of Mason Nightshade's right palm; the mark split his palm lines right down the middle, stretching all the way to his ring finger. It was hard to see at a glance.
So very few people knew about it.
Except for those extremely close to him.
Aurelia had asked him about it before, where the wound came from. Because she felt that for someone to leave a scar in a place like the palm, that person either had to be more capable than Mason, or had been someone by his side. But Mason hadn't answered her.
"Sigh." Mason let out a breath, his tone helpless. "You're overestimating me. I only found out about this not long after I married Aurelia. Since I thought it had nothing to do with Aurelia Shaw, I never told you. Instead, it gave someone with an agenda an opening.
