Chapter 4 - Chapter 4- Two Little Ancestors

"Hey! Hey! Why aren't you saying anything?"

An Mo's incessant chattering floated into Xai Lin's ears, causing that faint headache from before to reappear.

She raised her head and looked at An Mo with an expressionless face.

Seeing this, An Mo became excited.

"Oh, are you finally willing to answer me? Why does your soul—"

However, before he could finish asking his question, it was abruptly cut off due to Xai Lin's sudden transformation. With a twist of her body, she transformed into an eagle, and one flap of her broad wings carried her into the air to face An Mo.

An Mo's mouth fell open in shock at this scene.

Examining Xai Lin's wide wingspan, which could swat an adult off their feet, and then comparing them to his own, where were more beautiful than they were strong, he was dumbfounded. He knew at a glance that a single slap of those wings could snap him in half. That wasn't even mentioning her long beak and horrifying talons, glinting in the sun peeking through the foliage above.

"I… You…"

An Mo was at a loss for words as he stared at Xai Lin in front of him. If it wasn't for the fact that his Myriad Dao Eyes were still activated, he would have thought she was a beast youngling that had already awakened her human form.

But that was impossible.

All the beast younglings he had tried getting close to would run away whenever they saw him.

However, looking at Xai Lin, who had transformed into a beast youngling now, a strange emotion welled up in An Mo's heart. The longing he had suppressed was surging forth at this moment. Along with that longing was extreme joy.

With bright eyes, An Mo opened his mouth, about to ask Xai Lin if she could play with him; however, the greedy look in her eyes was like a bucket of cold water pouring over his head, completely extinguishing those thoughts.

Xai Lin caught the joy that briefly flashed in An Mo's eyes, which made her pause briefly; however, she quickly dismissed it and darted forward with a flap of her wings.

An Mo's pupils could help but constrict when he saw this. Without wasting time turning his body around, he flapped his wings and darted backward.

The sound of something sharp tearing through the air was heard, and his afterimage was destroyed by Xai Lin's talons.

"You! What are you doing?!"

Flustered, An Mo yelled at Xai Lin angrily.

However, Xai Lin didn't speak. She instead flapped her wings and silently chased after him.

An Mo's heart grew cold seeing this, and he didn't bother trying to communicate with her again. He didn't know why she wanted to capture him, but several frightening conjectures popped into his mind, which pushed him to flap his wings even harder.

While flying backward, An Mo made sure to keep an eye on Xai Lin. The trees of the great forest that were in his way were nimbly dodged, as if he had eyes in the back of his head.

At the moment Xai Lin began chasing after him, An Mo had made a split-second decision to dart into the forest rather than take flight in the air. The result now confirmed he had made the right call.

While his small figure expertly weaved through the forest trees, Xai Lin's broad wings became a hindrance, knocking into branches and slowing her down. In only a short time, An Mo gradually distanced himself from her until he could no longer see her figure.

Seeing this, An Mo sighed in relief in his heart. He turned around and continued darting through the great forest. This was his home, so he was confident that crazy human girl wouldn't be able to find him again.

However, just as An Mo was relaxing his guard, he saw from his peripheral vision a shadow darting out from behind a tree. He had no time to react and was knocked back by the shadow.

After slamming into a tree and coming to a stop, An Mo was finally able to see what had attacked him, but he was far from happy.

It was the human girl in her eagle form. Only, her body was now smaller than before, even a few degrees smaller than his own crow body. But unlike her body, the talon she was using to pin him against the tree was large, and it firmly kept him in place.

An Mo was frustrated.

"Just what do you want from me?! Why are you chasing after me?!"

Xai Lin snorted.

"I can't be bothered to explain anything to you, just obediently stay still."

After saying that, she opened her beak and made a move to bite into An Mo's neck.

"Y-You want to eat me?!"

An Mo was so angry that he was on the verge of fainting.

He tried flapping his wings to free himself, but Xai Lin's talons were like a vice grip, unable to be moved.

An Mo quickly realized something was wrong.

'Why is she so strong when she's only at the 9th stage of the Qi Condensation Realm?!'

With his Myriad Dao Eyes, he could clearly see that her aura was one major realm below his own. But what was this situation?!

Xai Lin completely ignored An Mo's struggles and panic. However, just as her beak was about to pierce his neck, An Mo suddenly reverted to his tortoise form.

With a ding, Xai Lin's beak met with resistance.

Before she could react, the golden marking on An Mo's shell erupted with a dazzling golden light, which carried with it a terrifying aura and a force of irresistible repulsion that ruthlessly slammed into her small body, sending her flying out.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

Xai Lin's figure tore through several trees along her trajectory, which created a scene of destruction, with splinters and leaves falling everywhere in this area of the forest.

It was a familiar scene, but with a completely different outcome.

It was obvious that An Mo had been holding back the first time.

Unlike before, An Mo didn't wait around to check on this human. Not even a second after freeing himself, he turned back into his Three-legged Divine Crow form and shot upward with a swoosh.

After piercing through the canopy of trees and reaching the void above the great forest, An Mo frantically flapped his wings and shot towards the center of the great forest.

That area was where he was born, and where he was most familiar with. But more importantly, a small lake was there that was connected to an underground waterway that was like a maze. As long as he could enter, he was confident he could escape this disaster!

Without the great forest's trees as obstructions, An Mo's speed was far more exaggerated. In only a few breaths of time, his figure was already at the end of the horizon, just moments away from disappearing from sight.

At that moment, a tremor occurred in the great forest below, which was followed by several trees toppling over one by one.

Despite his distance, An Mo clearly felt the commotion behind him, and he could not help but turn his head back to look. However, that one look caused all the feathers on his body to stand up with a swoosh.

Below in the great forest, a massive figure slowly rose up, looking like a small mountain floating up from the ground.

Its body was in the shape of a fish, but the wings at its side made it resemble a bird at the same time. The sun from above shone on its pure white body, but its radiance seemed to dim significantly under the noble aura emanating from it.

As the bird-fish-like creature floated there motionlessly in the air, its deep blue eyes pierced the void to stare fixedly at the black figure on the horizon.

The creatures within this great forest all felt like their brains were about to explode from the sudden appearance of this creature. It wasn't that its strength was great; in fact, its aura was insignificant. However, the bloodline suppression it was releasing was anything but insignificant!

The ones who had been watching the chase between that little ancestor and that mysteriously appearing human looked between both of them several times before turning around to flee in utter terror.

This was especially the case for the creatures who showed hostility to Xai Lin but dared not attack due to An Mo.

What human? That was clearly another little ancestor who had already taken human form!!
