KINGDOM CRISIS II
To the other men sitting at the table, this quarrel was not new and have been used to seeing it almost all often.
"Enough" a calm voice came from a man sitting at the head of the round table. Immediately, the room was silent. At that moment, an old telephone in the room started ringing.. All eight men in the room turned to look at it ...
Duke Jake, the man who suddenly spoke used his will to control the old phone to himself.
"Speak" he said. Immediately the person on the other end started narrating what happened in the outside world, especially the capital.
"Hmm, good. Continue with the gathering", after hanging the phone , he looked around the table and said," Gentlemen, they succeeded, we will be going out after receiving their call". Immediately after saying that, he closed his eyes and stared meditating.
There was a straight three long minutes of silence, then a sigh was heard;
'huh' from an upper noble Marquis.
"So we finally achieved something that even our ancestors could not achieve." he said, not with the slightest bit of happiness could be seen on his face.
"Yeah, but there is no going back from this, no regret can shown after what has happened" another noble said with a resolute face.
While they were sulking in what they have than;
"We can still follow the arrangement, but what if they attack us, after all we've lost all our king-level experts to guard the land." Duke Kendril spoke for the first time at this moment.
"And you seem to forget another important factor, how are we going to take the military under control? We can't be expecting them to obey us, since that is not going to happen easily" as soon as Duke Kendril finished speaking , there was an eerie silence around the table.
Seconds later, a pressure that felt like a mountain swept over the people present in the room. They all turn their head after a few seconds of difficult to see it was coming from Duke Jake.
"You don't have to worry much about them, I've broken through to peak level of Earth realm. Mike won't be a trouble if he refuses to submit" Duke Jake said after opening his eyes and withdrawing his aura, a glit of light flashing on his eyes.
"Congratulations brother Jake for your break through, with this we are one step closer to achieving our goal" other nobles responded enthusiastic. Which most found the break through good news, except two people in the room only felt more threaten and Duke Jake who was stronger than them felt it but ignore them considering them as insignificant.
"With this, you are one step closer to becoming king-level expert brother Jake" Marquis Vamdis who also knew what was going on tactically declared his side, after all, anything that was against his rival was really good for him.
"With them gone and the military going to be under control, what we should care about is the rank of the kingdom. We currently have no king-level experts, we can't maintain the current rank on the world stage or we will all fall to second rate nobles..." Duke Kendril said after scrutunising Duke Jake.
Hearing this all their happy expressions immediately vanished instantly.
In the Azure Origin world, nobility status of a country mattered a lot on the world stage as it mostly depended on its overall strength.
For example, a baron of a first rate country have more prestige than even a duke of a third rate country, even if the duke may be stronger in cultivation. this all due to the status of the baron's country's status on the world stage. With this if the nation were to fall in status, not only do their prestige fall, their long term rivals might take the opportunity suppress them severely on the world stage. An example is, during a world council event meetings, they might use their status to create a resolution against them. If the fall is too great, then they can eve get you kicked out of certain organizations, if allowed. On the world stage only strength do the talking which later translate to your voting rights and decision power.
Now if Baymard were to fall to a second rate state, it will face enormous suppression. Afterall, Baymard was once called Great Baymard, which cannot be gained without many wars and death.
500 years ago, during Baymard's peak...
