"There's a secret passage on the second floor?"
Following closely behind Amy Mansfield upstairs, Agent Loughton restrained his expression and asked darkly.
Amy glanced at him, saying, "I don't know. Maybe."
This was as good as saying nothing.
The three meals every day were brought down from the second floor; although there were no delivery marks, they were all in takeout packaging. It was unlikely that a cook had been hired specifically, so it could only have come from outside.
People on the first floor had no idea, but the takeout coming from the second floor certainly proves that there's a secret passage leading in and out of the villa on the second floor.
Now, Rosie Sullivan letting Agent Loughton upstairs further confirmed this point.
Of course, Agent Loughton wasn't going upstairs to leave; he aimed to — stop Rosie Sullivan from publicly revealing his sins.
— Even though he wasn't 100% sure that Nora Scott had something on him that he didn't want others to know.
