Chapter 75– A Conversation in the Apartment
After the meal, Dante, Amber, and Jasmine returned to the apartment. While Dante finished paying the workers who helped with the furniture move and assembly, Amber threw herself onto the sofa and said: "Ah, how good. We finally have our own place. The hotel was nice and all, but it still doesn't have that comfort of being at home."
Jasmine, who was finishing cleaning up the place, smiled and said: "Yes, it's true. Even though the hotel is very good, there are so many people passing by all the time. You can't feel that comfort of being at home. A hotel is very nice to stay at, but honestly only for vacations or trips. To actually live there isn't an ideal place."
Dante, who entered after finishing paying the workers, smiled at them: "Well, you're right. It's true." He lay down on the sofa and put his head on Amber's lap, saying: "Having a place you can modify with your own tastes and preferences, where you can rest only in your own home… that's possible."
At that moment someone knocked on the door. Jasmine then stood up and went to answer it. She opened the door and saw Penny with a bottle of wine, along with Leonard and Sheldon.
Jasmine smiled and said: "Penny, how nice to see you here. What's up?"
Penny smiled and said: "You know, because I was working at that moment I couldn't give you much attention or talk properly at the restaurant. So I thought about bringing this wine to celebrate the new neighbors."
Jasmine said: "How kind. Come in."
They then entered the apartment.
Dante asked curiously: "But Penny coming is a surprise. More surprising is Leonard and Sheldon. You two don't give me the feeling of people who like to interact and meet new people. So I'm surprised you came with Penny."
Leonard was about to answer, but Sheldon spoke first: "It's because Leonard was afraid that with your appearance you would attract Penny. So he wanted to come with her and ended up dragging me along for this useless activity called social interaction."
Dante said: "Ah, so that was the reason. Well, what can you say? It's normal. I'm very handsome."
Amber hit him in the face with a pillow and said: "Be less arrogant."
Penny, seeing this, smiled and said: "You guys get along really well."
Jasmine arrived with the glasses and said: "Here, you can pour the wine here."
Penny started filling the glasses and said: "So, who wants a little wine?"
Amber said excitedly: "I want some."
Jasmine smiled and said: "Me too."
Penny poured for both of them. She then looked at Leonard and said: "So, Leonard, do you want some too?"
Leonard said: "Just a little. I don't want to get too drunk."
Penny said: "Alright." She looked at Sheldon and asked: "And you, Sheldon? Do you want some?"
Sheldon said: "Ah, spare me. I would never consume alcohol to lower my cognitive abilities even more. My brain is too important for humanity. I can't let anything happen to it or else humanity would have to depend on physicists like Leonard."
Leonard exclaimed: "Me? What's wrong with depending on me?"
Penny shook her head, amused, already used to this scene. She then looked at Dante and smiled, saying: "And you, Dante? Would you like a glass of wine?"
Dante smiled and said: "Sorry, Penny. I'm not really a fan of alcohol. My palate is more childish, you know? So I never really liked drinking or anything like that. I prefer soda or juice. I don't like the taste of alcohol very much."
Dante thought: Especially now that I can't get drunk. Add that to the taste of alcohol that isn't great, so my desire isn't very high.
Penny said surprised: "You're pretty strange, you know? On one side you have more than one girlfriend and on the other you're super uptight about drinking."
Jasmine, who appeared with a can of soda and handed it to Dante, said smiling: "What can you do? He's kind of strange sometimes. He seems like a mix of an older guy with a child and a teenager at the same time."
Dante said playfully: "I just hope the child percentage is winning, because being an adult is way too boring." He said while drinking his soda.
Penny smiled and said: "There's something I have to agree with. Being an adult is way too boring. With bills, debts, and responsibilities… it's really boring."
Leonard said: "Ah come on, guys. There must be a good side, right?"
Sheldon said: "I don't know why you complain. Doing taxes and paying bills is a very interesting activity."
Leonard said tiredly: "Sheldon, we're talking about what normal people like. I don't know, I like robots."
Dante, seeing this, thought: Well, and that's why I bought this building. If I'm going to live somewhere, it might as well be a place where something different and fun is always happening to watch. Well, this really was a good day. I bought the building, Jasmine and Amber moved in, and we're having a pleasant night. I have nothing to complain about
