"So… how much farther?"
Areon wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, only for another thin layer to appear almost immediately. His breathing had become heavier during the last hour, and every few steps he found himself licking his dry lips as he walked beside the white-haired boy leading him deeper into the island. Heat waves continuously rolled toward them, making the distant land bend and twist before his eyes, while Areon's crimson-red hair was repeatedly blown backward by burning currents of air. He finally raised one hand before his face, shielding his eyes as another wave struck them.
