"You had no right to interfere in my affairs," Zeraida declared, her voice echoing off the tall walls of the study.
Xaviere lifted his dark gaze from the quarterly financial report spread across his desk, watching her approach. She stood directly across from him, her arms folded tightly over her chest as she held his eyes.
"I believe we discussed this matter thoroughly yesterday," he stated, his posture remaining perfectly rigid.
"No," she countered, leaning slightly forward over the dark wood. "You simply justified your actions yesterday."
Xaviere deliberately closed the thick document, setting his gold pen down on the desk pad. "Is there a meaningful distinction between the two?"
"To me? Absolutely," she answered, her tone sharpening with immediate frustration.
Zeraida took a step closer, her heels clicking against the polished floorboards.
