Chapter 17: The Ultimate Blue Flame
The Commander crashed into the shattered streets of Perth with a thunderous impact.
Stone erupted outward as his boots carved deep trenches into the ground. Blue energy crackled violently around his body, distorting the air itself.
Behind him, the Captain quickly pulled the surviving Drifters back into cover.
"Move! Don't stay exposed!" he ordered sharply.
The Drifters staggered away, injured but alive.
At the center of the ruined battlefield, the Arcane General stood completely still.
Unharmed.
Unmoved.
The Commander narrowed his eyes.
"…Not even a scratch?"
The General tilted his head slightly.
"You expected otherwise?"
A faint, mocking smile formed.
"You are strong… for a human."
A pause.
"Just not enough."
The Commander tightened his grip on his sword.
"Don't underestimate me."
His aura exploded outward.
Blue flame surged into the sky as he vanished.
BOOM!
The ground beneath the General shattered as the Commander's blade descended like a meteor.
CLANG!
A deafening shockwave tore through the battlefield.
But when the dust cleared…
The General had blocked it with a single hand.
The Commander's eyes widened.
"No way…"
He pushed harder, forcing more energy into the strike.
The earth cracked beneath them.
Still—
The General did not move.
Not even an inch.
The General exhaled softly.
"Is this your limit?"
With a sudden flick of his hand, the Commander was thrown backward, crashing through broken stone walls.
He skidded across the ground, coughing.
Blood stained his lips.
"…Impossible…"
His aura flickered.
The General stepped forward once.
The entire battlefield trembled under that single step.
"I will end this quickly."
The Commander slowly rose, forcing himself upright.
Blue fire condensed around his blade.
"…Final technique."
His voice lowered.
"Ultimate Blue Flame."
The sky ignited.
A massive pillar of blue energy erupted upward, tearing through the clouds and shaking the entire city.
For a moment, everything vanished in light.
---
When the glow faded…
The General still stood.
But for the first time—
A faint crack appeared in his armor.
He looked down at it.
"…Interesting."
The Commander dropped to one knee.
Breathing heavily.
"So you're not invincible…"
The General raised his blade.
"I never claimed to be."
He stepped forward.
And stopped.
---
A new presence entered the battlefield.
Fast.
Heavy.
Familiar.
BOOM!
A fist collided with the General's face, sending him skidding across the ruined street.
Silence fell instantly.
The Commander lifted his head slowly.
"…That feeling…"
Standing in front of him was Shen.
Kenya and Eliz arrived behind him, taking position immediately.
Eliz raised her healing ring.
"You're badly injured. Don't move too much."
Kenya cracked her knuckles.
"Sorry we're late."
Shen didn't take his eyes off the General.
"I heard enough."
The General wiped blood from his lip.
For the first time—
He smiled wider.
"…Another one."
Shen stepped forward.
"Let's dance."
The air went still.
Then—
The General vanished.
Shen vanished.
CLANG!
Their collision shattered the battlefield once again.
Blue flame and dark energy erupted across Perth as the true battle finally escalated beyond control.
And the war entered its next stage.
