Chapter 57 - Chapter 57:- Departure

The air in King Cobra's private study was heavy, thick with the scent of old scrolls and the chilling weight of the revelations just shared.

Cobra sat behind his massive oak desk, his newly restored hands gripping the arms of his chair until his knuckles were white.

The image of the Empty Throne, occupied by a shadowy sovereign named Imu, burned behind his eyes.

He looked across the desk at Takuya, who stood with an unnerving stillness, having just unveiled the deepest, most dangerous secret of the world order. The king's voice, when he found it, was rough with a mixture of awe and terror.

"Why?" Cobra finally managed to ask, his gaze searching Takuya's impassive face. "Why reveal this to me? This is… this is beyond treason. It's a truth that could shatter the globe. Why take the risk of telling me?"

Takuya's eyes, sharp and calculating, held his. There was no warmth in them, only a pragmatic, almost brutal honesty. "So you don't fuck it up."

Cobra flinched at the crude, direct language, so at odds with the palace's usual decorum.

Takuya continued, his tone flat. "Ignorance is a luxury you can no longer afford. If you, in your well-intentioned desire for answers, were to attend the Reverie and ask one wrong question about your ancestor, Nefertari Lily, or draw any attention to the 'D' in your bloodline, the result would not be a diplomatic incident.

It would be an extermination. Just like many kingdoms that were erased from history, Alabasta would just be the next in line, something I wouldn't want as a future king."

He took a single, deliberate step forward, his presence seeming to fill the room. "I told you so that you would understand the consequences of a misstep. So that my wife," he said, the word laden with a possessive finality that encompassed both Vivi and Robin, "Does not have to lay awake at night worrying that her father's noble heart will get his kingdom erased from history.

So that my Vivi does not have to mourn her father and her people because of a secret she couldn't share. Your role now is not to seek answers, but to maintain the silence that will keep your people safe."

The explanation was not given out of kindness, but out of cold, strategic necessity. It was about protecting what was now his. Cobra felt the message sink in, not as a reassurance, but as a grim warning. His purpose had been redefined in an instant: be careful, be quiet, stay alive.

Swallowing hard, Cobra nodded, the motion heavy with acceptance. He then looked down at his own hands, no longer frail and spotted with age, but strong and steady. The miraculous vitality coursing through him was a tangible reminder of the power of the man before him.

"And you?" Takuya asked, his voice cutting through the silence. "What are your intentions now? You have been given a second youth, a renewed vigor. Do you plan to cling to the throne, to rule with this new strength? Or will you hand the crown to Vivi and retire to enjoy the years you've been gifted?"

Cobra looked up, and for the first time since the conversation began, a genuine, paternal light shone in his eyes, pushing back against the fear. A small, weary smile touched his lips.

"Retire?" he said, a soft chuckle escaping him. "While the world holds such terrors? No." He straightened his spine, the King of Alabasta fully visible once more.

"This second chance is not for my leisure. It is a duty. I will continue to rule. I will be the steady hand that guides our kingdom through these coming shadows, using the wisdom of my age and the strength of this new body."

His expression softened as he thought of his daughter. "As for Vivi… she has already sacrificed so much of her youth for this kingdom.

She fought a war for it. She carries its burdens every day. But she is still so young. She has a spirit that yearns for adventure, for the freedom she tasted with her friends."

He met Takuya's gaze squarely. "I will not have her tied down by the crown before she has truly lived her life. Let her have her adventures. Let her see the world, broaden her horizons, and gather experiences I never could.

When she returns, she will not be a princess who has only known palace walls. She will be a queen who has seen the world, and that perspective will make her rule stronger, more compassionate, and far wiser than mine could ever be.

The kingdom's already hers but before being tied by the burden of the crown, I want her to enjoy her life to her fullest, and not have any lingering regrets in her life. I mean that's the most I can do for my daughter's happiness."

He saw a flicker of something in Takuya's eyes—not approval, but a recognition of a strategy that aligned with his own.

"Then we understand each other," Takuya stated. "You will be the public face of the crown, the beloved king restored. I will be the shield in the shadows, dealing with threats you cannot see. And Vivi will be prepared for a destiny far greater than either of us could imagine."

Cobra rose from his desk, feeling the strange, vibrant energy in his limbs. He walked to the window and looked out over his sun-drenched city.

The familiar view was now alien, every shadow potentially hiding an agent of a world-ending secret. The fear was still there, a cold knot in his stomach, but it was now joined by a resolute purpose.

"We understand each other," Cobra echoed, his voice firm. He turned back to Takuya, a king making a pact with a force of nature.

"Protect my daughter. Guide her. And when the time is right… help her come home to a kingdom that is still standing, ready for her to lead."

Takuya gave a single, slow nod. The agreement was sealed. The future of Alabasta, and of the Nefertari bloodline, was now irrevocably intertwined with his own dark, ambitious path.

The energy at the Alubarna docks was full of noise and movement as everyone prepared to leave. The Going Merry stood ready, its sheep-like figurehead seeming to smile. The Straw Hats moved around the deck, their familiar chaos filling the air.

Luffy bounced on the Merry's railing, unable to stay still. "Let's go! Let's go! We have food! We have a log pose! ADVENTURE!" he shouted, stretching his arms toward the ocean.

Usopp, who was fixing a rope, suddenly stopped and stared at the dock next to them. "Hey, everyone? What's that ship? And why does it look like it's coming with us?"

Everyone turned to look. Parked beside the Merry was a ship unlike any they had ever seen. It was longer and larger than their caravel, with a sharp, angry-looking front.

Its entire body was made of dark metal that seemed to swallow the sunlight, and it had no sails. Strange, covered turrets and odd metal boxes dotted its deck. It looked like a sea monster made of metal.

"That's my ship," Takuya said, his voice cutting through their chatter. He stood on the dock with Vivi and Robin on either side of him. All three looked ready for travel, standing with new confidence. "The 'Dune Serpent'."

Luffy's head tilted like a confused dog. "Your ship? But you're coming with us, right? There's room on the Merry! It's the best ship!"

Takuya smiled slightly. "The Merry is good for a crew of single men. But things are different for me now." His eyes moved over Vivi and Robin, and both women stood a little straighter.

"I'm a married man. Twice over. I need... private time with my wives. That would be hard to find on a small ship with so many... energetic young men around."

Zoro made a disgusted sound. Chopper looked confused. Usopp's face moved through several funny expressions as he understood.

But Sanji exploded with happiness. Light seemed to shine from him as he spun around, tears of joy on his face. "YES! He understands! He gets it! So Robin-chwan and Vivi-chan will be safe on the Merry with us, away from that beast! We can have a normal trip! This is perfect!"

A gruff voice cut through his celebration. "You've got dirt in your shitty head, cook."

Sanji stopped spinning, his joy faltering. "What did you say, you shitty marimo?"

Zoro was leaning against the mast, not even bothering to open his eyes. "I said you've got dirt in your head. Are you even listening?

He just said he needs 'private time' with them. That means they're sailing with him. On that ship. Robin and Vivi aren't coming on the Merry, you idiot."

The truth hit Sanji like a physical blow. The brilliant light around him flickered and died. His face went from ecstatic to horrified in a split second. "W-What?! No! That can't be right! He wouldn't... they wouldn't..."

His celebration was thoroughly shattered, replaced by the dawning horror of the real situation.

Nami's clear voice cut through his celebration. "Actually, I'll be sailing on the Dune Serpent too."

Sanji's world stopped. The light around him broke into pieces. He turned to stare at her, his mouth hanging open, his cigarette almost falling. "N-NAMI-SWAN?! WHAT? WHY? You can't! You can't leave the Merry! You can't leave... me!" he cried, his body twisting in dramatic sadness.

Nami put a hand on her hip and gave him a look that was both annoyed and fond. "Why? Let me explain, you idiot." She held up one finger. "First, the Merry is too small and noisy.

Trying to map a course for two ships is hard when you, Luffy, and Usopp are always shouting and messing up my maps. I can't think with all that noise."

She held up a second finger. "Second, it's tiring being the only woman on a ship full of loud men. I want a quiet place to work where someone," she glared at Luffy and Usopp who were now play-fighting, "isn't breaking things every few minutes."

She pointed at the Dune Serpent. "Takuya's ship has a real navigation room, private bedrooms, and lots of space. And," she added, her voice softening a little, "Vivi and Robin will be there. It will be... nice to have other women around. And I guess Mira is a woman too, so her as well." She said the last part quietly.

Sanji fell to his knees, dark clouds of misery around him. "No... no... this is a bad dream... My Nami-swan... stuck on that floating evil place with that... that animal and his... his women! My heart! It's breaking! It's turning to powder!"

"Oh, stop being so dramatic," Nami said, though she smiled a little. "I'll be right next to you. You can wave. You can even cook for us and bring the food over."

This made Sanji cry harder, imagining the torture of making beautiful meals only to send them to that ship.

Luffy, who didn't understand Sanji's drama, just laughed. "Shishishi! Okay! As long as we're adventuring together! And Nami is still telling us where to go! Let's go!"

After saying goodbye to King Cobra, who watched from a high balcony with both pride and worry, the two ships started sailing. The Going Merry led the way, its spirit bright and familiar. The Dune Serpent followed, a silent, powerful shadow on the water.

On the deck of the Dune Serpent, Nami stood with Takuya, Vivi, and Robin, already opening a map. The feeling here was different—calmer and more serious. Robin gave Nami a cup of tea with a peaceful smile.

"Thank you for coming with us, Nami," Vivi said, linking her arm with the navigator's. "It will be much better with you here."

Nami smiled back, for real this time. "Well, someone needs to make sure you three don't get completely lost in... whatever you'll be doing." She blushed a little but didn't look away.

Takuya watched them, his arms crossed, looking very satisfied. His group was separate, but his family was together.

As the coast of Alabasta disappeared behind them, the two ships, connected by fate and friendship, sailed forward into the wide, waiting blue ocean. Their next adventure was just starting over the edge of the world.
