[Crans-Montana. The second week.]
You do not film the part that matters.
The part that matters is ten days that look like nothing from the outside. No cameras, no goals worth a clip. Just a manager taking a team apart in his head and putting it back together a different way, and twenty-three men slowly working out that the different way is better.
Here is what they were when they landed.
A careful side. A good one. A back line that had gone a whole qualifying campaign without conceding, drilled by the man who'd just walked out on them.
And underneath that, a pecking order set in concrete. Munir in goal because Munir was always in goal. Sofyan on the bench because Sofyan was twenty-one and you waited your turn.
A squad that knew exactly what it was. Which was the thing everyone praised about them, and the thing quietly holding them at the level they were at.
