"Seems like a 'newbie' reincarnated devil with no combat experience managed to bruise the heir of Lucifer. Boy, what a terrible day for you."
I could sense it—his pride stung.
The next moment, silver light enveloped him as his Balance Breaker repaired itself in an instant. The shattered armor restored, as if mocking my earlier efforts.
My breath hitched. It was impossible—he could recover that fast? At this rate, no matter how many times I broke that armor, he'd just rebuild it.
[The battle doesn't end until the host is rendered incapable of fighting, Partner. At this rate, you'll never win. Your opponent's armor evolves faster than your destruction. The most logical choice is to retreat.]
"You think I'm the type to run away, Ddraig?"
[No. You're too stubborn for that. Then what's your plan?]
"Simple," I said, staring straight at Vali, whose aura was flaring again. "I make the impossible… possible."
That was when I saw it—a small glint on the ground amid the rubble. A fragment of white shimmered faintly beneath the broken tiles.
A jewel.
When I'd smashed through Vali's armor earlier, one of Albion's jewels had come loose. His armor restored itself, but this one—this tiny piece—had been left behind.
I crouched and picked it up, feeling the residual chill of his power pulsing inside. A fragment of the Vanishing Dragon…
Vali noticed and tilted his head. "That won't help you. The jewel's nothing but dead residue. Trash."
Maybe for him. But I wasn't him.
My grin widened. "Trash can still burn if you light it right."
A crazy idea bloomed inside my head—dangerous, suicidal even. But if Issei in another timeline could merge power beyond logic… why couldn't I?
"Let's get crazy, Ddraig," I muttered. "Ready for some pain?"
[Heh. You're transmitting one hell of an image to me, Partner. But… interesting! We might die, but—do you have the resolve?]
I smirked, pressing the jewel of the Vanishing Dragon against my own crimson gauntlet. "Do you really think this world has the power to kill me?"
[…Heh. Fair enough. Then let's show them, Partner. I am Ddraig, the Red Dragon Emperor—a mass of power itself! Let's exceed even fate together!]
"Yeah!"
Vali raised a brow, intrigued. "What do you intend to do, Hyoudou?"
I looked up, grinning maniacally. "Albion! Vali! I'll be taking your power!"
And before anyone could react, I smashed the Sekiryuutei jewel on my right hand—crimson shards scattering like blood—and jammed the Vanishing Dragon's jewel into the wound.
A searing shock tore through me.
"GUAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!"
My scream echoed across the ruined arena as pure agony ripped through my veins. It wasn't physical pain—it was like my soul was being shredded apart, piece by piece.
Partner!! Your body's rejecting it! Stop—]
"Not… yet!" I choked out.
The silver aura from the jewel flared violently, twining with my crimson one. My right arm was wrapped in pure white light, while the rest of my body still burned red.
Inside me, two dragons screamed.
[GUOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!]
Ddraig's roar mixed agony and laughter.
[What reckless madness! You intend to fuse my power with his?] Albion's cold voice cut through the chaos. [That's nothing more than an act of self-destruction. You'll annihilate yourself, foolish human.]
[Hah! You've always been a stubborn bastard, Albion!] Ddraig bellowed. [Eons we've fought—always the same! One raises power, the other steals it! A never-ending loop of hate! But this time—this host breaks the cycle!]
[Our destiny doesn't change, Ddraig. You raise power. I steal it. One wins. One dies. That's how it always ends.]
Ddraig's laughter deepened, manic and proud.
[Since meeting with this host—with Hyoudou Issei—I have learned one thing. He will be the strongest being I hosted. He is far stronger than that Lucifer boy. If he stop holding back, he will kill that vali boy.]
The fusion reached its peak. My mind screamed, and my body convulsed. Blood poured from my nose and eyes, but I held on.
I could feel Albion's energy being devoured, twisted, and reshaped into something new within me.
[Vanishing Dragon Power… taken!]
My right arm exploded in white light, merging seamlessly with the red armor of Ddraig. The two colors pulsed—clashing, fusing, harmonizing.
When the light dimmed, my right arm bore a pure white gauntlet, elegant and menacing, with a faint silver glow.
I stared at it, trembling, panting heavily. "...Heh. So this is the [Dividing Gear]."
Half my body crimson. The other half is white. Opposites that should never coexist… now one.
Albion's voice wavered with disbelief.
[Impossible. Such a thing cannot exist!]
"No," I smirked. "It's not perfect—but it's possible. My friend once forged holy and demonic swords. He proved opposing forces could coexist when the system that forbade it collapsed. You could say…"
I lifted my hand, silver light pulsing. "…I just exploited a bug in the universe."
[A bug… in the Sacred Gear program…? Foolish. Even gods feared the instability of such fusion! You're toying with power that could unmake you!]
I looked up, meeting Vali's gaze. His eyes no longer held mockery. Only fascination—and a hint of wariness.
"Guess what," I said. "I didn't die."
The crimson and white auras spiraled together behind me, forming a swirling vortex that split the sky itself.
Partner! Your power… it's rising!]
"Then let's push it further!"
Vali chuckled softly, stepping forward. "Heh. So, you really did it. Fused the Heavenly Dragons' power…. You're insane."
"Maybe." My grin widened. "But insane people tend to win."
Vali's armor gleamed under the fractured light. "Then, Hyoudou Issei—show me if your madness can rival my destiny!"
"Gladly."
We both vanished.
The world split with a sonic boom as crimson and silver met midair, shockwaves tearing through the battlefield. Trees uprooted, stone shattered, and the sky itself warped under our collision.
[BOOST!]
[DIVIDE!]
[BOOST!]
[DIVIDE!]
The chants overlapped, chaotic and divine. Each hit stole power; each blow returned it tenfold. The rhythm of battle turned into a harmony of destruction and creation.
Vali grinned through the onslaught. "You're devouring my power… while giving it back stronger. Impossible!"
"Not impossible—unbelievable." I smirked, landing a punch that shattered his chestplate and sent him crashing into the ground below.
As the dust cleared, I raised my glowing right arm. The dual aura around me stabilized—no longer chaos, but balance.
"Now," I said softly, almost smiling, "round two, Vali."
