"Moreover..." Jaden glanced sideways at Winged Kuriboh and added, "I really don't think she can provide any combat value to the New Supreme King Army."
"Kuri kuri..." Winged Kuriboh gave a helpless, bitter smile.
"What was that? It sounds like the Supreme King looks down on me!" Dark Magician Girl seemed genuinely piqued. She marched over and glared at Jaden, huffing, "In that case, Supreme King, why don't you duel me!"
"A duel?" Jaden blinked, momentarily stunned.
"That's right, a duel!" Dark Magician Girl produced a Duel Disk from behind her back. "If you win, I'll listen to you and return to the Duel Spirit World."
"But if you lose, you have to give me a chance to stay in your army. How about it!"
Looking at her facewhich despite the feigned anger couldn't hide her excitementJaden realized something. From the look of things, she had likely been plotting this duel for a long time.

"Did you hear? Over at Slifer Red, Jaden Yuki is going to have a duel!"
"For real? Someone in this academy actually has the guts to challenge Jaden? Who's that brave?"
"I don't know, but they say it's a really cute girl. She's even cosplaying as Dark Magician Girl!"

The news that Jaden Yuki was dueling an unknown girl spread through Duel Academy like wildfire. The usually desolate Slifer Red campus was suddenly packed to the brim with students from Obelisk Blue and Ra Yellow.
Of course, whether they were there for the duel or to catch a glimpse of "Dark Magician Girl" was up for debate.
Slifer Red's modest dueling stage had been cleared off specifically for the match. Many Slifer Red students were busy tidying up the area, never expecting their dormitory to attract such a massive crowd.

"Stop dreaming, Syrus. Hurry up and help me reorganize the warehouse." Chumley shook his head with a sigh and dragged Syrus toward the back.
Up on the stage, Jaden Yuki strapped on his Duel Disk and slotted his deck into the groove. As the deck clicked into place, the box-sized disk deployed, its edges glowing with a sharp red light.
"So cool! You're just like the legends say, Supreme King~" On the opposite side, Dark Magician Girl held her face in her hands, her eyes sparkling as she watched Jaden.
"...Let's just get started," Jaden said with a helpless sigh, raising his Duel Disk.
"Don't be in such a rush, Supreme King~" Dark Magician Girl giggled as she loaded her own deck. "This is a rare opportunity. I'm going to go all out so I can change your mind about me."
As she spoke, she waved to the students below the stage. "I hope everyone cheers for me too!"

The boys in the crowd felt as if their hearts had been struck by an arrow.

Jaden remained silent, but his stern gaze made it clear he had no intention of holding back.
"Alright, duel start!" Dark Magician Girl's lips curled into a smile.

"By sending a Level 6 or higher Spellcaster monster from my deck to the Graveyard, I can send this card to the Graveyard to Special Summon a Dark Magician Girl or Dark Magician from my Graveyard."

Jaden's eyes narrowed. It seemed this spirit wasn't as weak as he had imagined.
"I choose to send the Dark Magician Girl in my deck to the Graveyard, and then I Special Summon the Dark Magician Girl from my Graveyard to the field!"
She winked, her expression adorably innocent. "Here she comes! Appear! Dark Magician Girl!"
"Whoaaa!" The students cheered in excitement, watching with anticipation as the summoning circle appeared on the field.
The light faded, and Dark Magician Girl materialized from the glow. She wore a serious yet incredibly cute expression as she stared down Jaden.

"Hehe, I set three cards and end my turn, Supreme King!" Dark Magician Girl placed three cards face-down, her large eyes blinking playfully.
"Those three face-downs... they're dangerous, Jaden." Yubel stared at the backrow, a hint of caution in her eyes. "That girl might look a bit silly, but there is a powerful dark aura within her."
"Yeah, let's test the waters first." Jaden looked at his hand. "I activate the Spell Card, E - Emergency Call!"
"I add one Elemental HERO monster from my deck to my hand."
Jaden sent the spell to the Graveyard and added a monster to his hand. He looked up at Dark Magician Girl and saw her just staring at him blankly, blinking occasionally, with no intention of interrupting his play.
Do those face-downs have nothing to do with disruption? Jaden mused. No, it's better to be cautious.
"Next, I activate another Spell! A Hero Lives!"
"If I control no face-up monsters, I can pay half my Life Points to Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Elemental HERO from my deck!"

"Come forth, Elemental HERO Shadow Mist!"
A dark mist coalesced on the field. A female hero clad in black armor emerged from the deep summoning circle.
"When Shadow Mist is Special Summoned, I can add one 'Change' Quick-Play Spell from my deck to my hand. I choose Mask Change."
Without hesitation, Jaden flipped the card he had just searched.
"I activate the Quick-Play Spell, Mask Change! I send Shadow Mist to the Graveyard to Special Summon Masked HERO Dark Law from the Extra Deck!"
Shadow Mist was instantly enveloped by dark energy. As the mist cleared, Dark Law appeared before the crowd.

Her cute face turned slightly serious. "I activate my Continuous Trap! Eternal Soul!"
The card beside her flipped open. Dark Magician Girl swept her hand forward and shouted, "Come forth! Master!"
As the words fell, another summoning circle rose beside her. From the center of the array, a man dressed in black robes emerged, his arms folded. He stared silently at Jaden, his gaze seemingly full of scrutiny.

"Wait, isn't that the monster that only exists in the legendary Yugi Muto's deck?"
"Hey, is that a real card or a fake?"
The students watched in slack-jawed silence. None of them expected that legendary card to actually appear before their eyes.
"Dark Magician... is he not the same entity as the Pharaoh's servant?" Jaden stared at the monster. Despite its overwhelming pressure, he could clearly see that both Dark Magician and Dark Magician Girl were distinctly different from Yugi Muto's cards.
"Since Master and I are both on the field," Dark Magician Girl said excitedly, "the real fireworks are about to start!"
"I activate my Quick-Play Spell!"
"Dark Burning Magic!"
