Chapter 753 - Chapter 753: Another Visit to the Spider

Peter's itinerary was indeed very tight; he did not even stay for over a day. Essentially, he arrived at K'un-Lun in the morning, had a quick lunch, and then passed through K'un-Lun's teleportation portal—the Southern Heavenly Gate—to arrive at the Spider Kingdom.

The scenery of this place was nowhere near as beautiful and elegant as K'un-Lun. All Peter could see were extremely sharp, piercing stone pillars piled together in sizes large and small. The ground was basically a death trap; if one carelessly fell down, they would be pierced through the heart by ten thousand arrows.

In fact, Peter had already spotted quite a few skeletons along the way. They lay down below just like that, making the place appear even more bleak and terrifying.

Fortunately, neither of the two individuals who had come to this place was an ordinary person. Daniel and Peter relied on these rock cones, which looked exceptionally unstable, to move around. Peter concurrently turned his head to glance at those sporadically appearing skeletons: "I feel like this place's inability to recruit apprentices isn't just because it lacks fame and K'un-Lun monopolizes most of the resources. I reckon even if most people came to take a look out of curiosity, they would give up after seeing this terrain, or simply die halfway."

"The terrain of the Spider Kingdom is indeed harsh. Back when the Heart of Heaven had not yet shattered, this was one of the regions with the most brutal environments. But perhaps precisely because of this, the Mountain Spider was able to become the immortal divine beast of this domain after the Heart of Heaven shattered."

Peter nodded, then suddenly reacted: "Wait a minute, are you saying that the Mountain Spider is the weakest among the seven immortal divine beasts?"

Daniel remained silent for a moment, then shook his head: "No, I am not."

Unquestionably, he was, but he could not state it explicitly.

The two individuals continued to advance for a good while through this rugged, cave-like topography that lacked a ceiling. They finally spotted something else besides the stone cones and stone pillars of various sizes—spider silk.

Strands of spider silk, each as thick as a finger, connected different rock pillars, forming a network that covered a massive area. After glancing left and right, Peter landed upon the spider silk. Daniel followed closely behind him.

"According to the habits of spiders, if it senses a vibration in the web, it will come to check on the situation—my spider-sense is already buzzing, even though the web hasn't moved a bit."

The two individuals raised their heads. Hanging down along the spider silk from the sky was an incomparably massive spider. It possessed a golden body, yet its eight sharp claws were crimson. While its physique was described as quite grand, it was actually only about ten meters large, far inferior to the Frost Giants and Surtur whom Peter had seen before.

"The Immortal Weapon of the Green Dragon? What do you intend by coming to my domain?"

The sound emitted by the Mountain Spider was a sharp screech, making it sound like it was up to no good. Daniel, however, explained his purpose with indifference: "I encountered a noble warrior who wishes to become the Immortal Weapon of the Spider Kingdom, so I brought him here."

"A noble warrior? And he wants to become my Immortal Weapon? Does that old dragon think I'm stupid? What kind of worthless riffraff..."

For some unknown reason, despite it being completely impossible to discern what emotions the Mountain Spider's eight red, gemstone-like large eyes could express, Peter still intuitively felt the phenomenon of "staring with eyes wide open" occur on this massive creature. The giant Mountain Spider scuttled back and forth, sizing Peter up meticulously: "Is this for real?"

"It is real. He received a revelation from a prophecy. In order to cope with potential future threats, he needs to become the Immortal Weapon of the Spider Kingdom..."

"Nonsense! If this isn't destiny, what is? Alright, you can leave now. Do not disturb me and my Immortal Weapon from having a good chat."

The Iron Fist: ...

He fell silent for a moment before continuing to add: "But he has not yet learned how to utilize chi. Therefore, I will be a frequent disturbance during this period. I shall take my leave for today."

The Mountain Spider waited quite impatiently for Daniel to depart before raising its frontmost two sharp claws and rubbing them together: "Such powerful life energy, such boundless vitality, such a robust body, and these powers appear to originate from spiders. Even if one picked from all the mortals practicing martial arts in K'un-Lun, it would be impossible to select a stronger warrior. Mortal, what is your name?"

"Peter... Parker. If I'm wearing a mask to dole out justice, I generally call myself Spider-Man."

Peter felt a bit uneasy listening to the Mountain Spider's description, but as he listened, he suddenly realized something, looking at the Mountain Spider with curiosity: "Wait a moment, are you not connected to the Web of Destiny?"

"The Web of Destiny? What's that... Oh, I get it. You're talking about that system that uses spider totems as coordinates to connect the entire world." Only then did the Mountain Spider comprehend the source of Peter's power: "That is a good question. A certain spider used its own power to create a massive web, and then anyone or anything that shares power from it turns into a spider totem, including you, right?"

Seeing Peter nod, the Mountain Spider continued to inquire: "Then, would spiders that were born concurrently with that spider, or even earlier than it, involuntarily connect to it?"

Peter froze for a moment, then came to a realization. Neith had created the Web of Destiny, and Anansi became the first spider totem, but that did not mean there were no spider gods prior to that. The essence of New Gods was all stories, which meant that before Anansi became a spider totem, he was already a god of spiders.

Someone like Anansi proactively intervened in the Web of Destiny and began to propagate its power and knowledge, which was why he became a spider totem. The Mountain Spider, however, had simply never gone online; it naturally was not a spider totem either, it was just the Mountain Spider.

"Forget it, it's nothing anyway. It looks like you are seeking more spider power. While I have no intention of entangling myself with that massive web, once you become my Immortal Weapon, I won't object if you want to bring this power into that web. Heheh, you only need to agree to one condition of mine."

Speaking to this point, the Mountain Spider suddenly recalled the Iron Fist's remark that "he hasn't even learned chi," and immediately inquired: "Speaking of which, do you actually know how to become an Immortal Weapon?"

"From what I know, one is permitted to participate in a trial, fight the immortal divine beast, and then rip its heart out, integrating it into one's own body through a specific ritual..."

Peter trailed off here because he had a premonition that the Mountain Spider had something to say.

The Mountain Spider did indeed have something to say; it practically wanted to swear.

"Is there anything else?"

"...No?"

Peter wore a face full of bewilderment: "Could there be more?"
