Chapter 768 - Chapter 768: Who is Eating Whom?

Due to his lack of knowledge, Morlun could not tell the difference between a spider-wasp and a regular wasp. As a result, he had never imagined his enemy's combat style would be so twisted as to transform his own corpse into a new spider-wasp mutant. But when it came down to it, all the All-Mother had really done to him was launch a sneak attack. Since it was a sneak attack, Morlun was bound to retaliate.

On the other side, however, there were far too many things that the Spider-Wasp All-Mother had failed to anticipate. She completely failed to realize that the Inheritors were essentially immortal beings capable of utilizing technology to transfer their consciousness in a single instant and resurrect from a new cloned body. Because of this, she was utterly unprepared to face the scene of a person she had just transformed coming back to kill her.

She had also never imagined that the Inheritors maintained a habit of taming enemies of the Spider-Totem into hounds. Two Rhinos from who-knows-which unlucky universe directly plowed through a vast multitude of spider-wasp mutants, virtually clearing the field, while Morlun charged straight toward the Spider-Wasp All-Mother.

But the All-Mother was no pushover either, swiftly intercepting Morlun's longsword with the sharp blades on her abdomen.

As for the Spider-Men's side, Peter simply called out to the local Strange, "If you don't want to see your universe turned into a complete mess, please cooperate with us. Miguel will explain the specific details to you. We need to take this fight somewhere else to avoid smashing the Oscorp Tower."

"Go to 2099, to my universe. It's more suited for a Spider-Man to fight."

Miguel transmitted the coordinates of Earth-928 to Peter, but Peter looked at Miguel with a mix of confusion and shock, "Won't that cause a lot of casualties?"

"It's already a cyberpunk world in 2099 anyway. Whatever you smash will just be a loss for the corporations; it doesn't matter if their people are killed or injured."

Peter fell silent for a moment but still shook his head. He then prepared to activate his ability to take both of them to a universe he had visited before—the Ogre Universe. The Zombie Universe was far too dangerous and had been taken away by the Beyonder, its current whereabouts unknown. Originally, the Wasteland Universe would have been a decent place to fight, but for one thing, just as Miguel recommended, a place with high-rise buildings and skyscrapers was better suited for a Spider-Man's combat style.

Secondly, that place was where their main base was located and was still undergoing reconstruction. It would be far too easy to cause casualties.

Furthermore, if luck was on his side, Peter might even be able to find reinforcements here.

Thus, Peter surged forward toward the two figures who were already grappling with each other. He leapt directly into midair, tearing open a reality rift, while simultaneously firing out webs to hitch onto both of them. With a powerful tug, all three of them arrived in the Ogre Universe together. Right after that, Peter swiftly shut the portal.

"Alright, fellas, no one is going to disturb us in this place."

Having not seen it for some time, the Ogre Universe was just as dilapidated as before. There was a vast expanse of ruined high-rise buildings and shattered walls, with almost no trace of humans or living creatures, and even the scent of blood in the air was exceptionally faint.

It was an excellent place for a battle.

Discovering what had happened, Morlun looked left and right, realizing he had arrived at the location of his previous battle with Peter. After a brief moment of thought, he came up with the optimal solution for the current situation: suicide.

As long as he committed suicide right now, he would immediately resurrect, and when that happened, he might perhaps be able to give chase before the Bride could escape. With this thought in mind, Morlun immediately decided to kill himself, but Peter stopped him instantly. Without a doubt, Peter had also anticipated Morlun's most likely course of action.

"I'm sorry, but you aren't going anywhere right now. I won't let you go anywhere."

Peter spoke as he intercepted Morlun. Subsequently, on the other side, the Spider-Wasp All-Mother, whose massive frame could practically be considered bloated, also scrambled back to her feet, staring over at the two men with a face boiling with rage.

Morlun, meanwhile, looked toward the Spider-Wasp All-Mother. Among the three individuals present on the field, it could be said that not a single one was not an enemy, and not a single one was a friend. All of them were preparing to deal with one another, yet for a brief moment, no one was ready to make the first move.

These two guys must be waiting to call in reinforcements; they have plenty of backup. And they're probably expecting me to call in reinforcements too...

Peter muttered to himself as he saw right through their little schemes, then shook his head. He wasn't falling for it.

For a time, the battle fell into a bizarre silence, and it seemed no one intended to break this stillness until the Spider-Wasp All-Mother suddenly paused, letting out a frantic, fearless laugh.

"Hahaha! Hahaha! You two ignorant and foolish humans! Do you actually think I am waiting for you to strike?!"

The Spider-Wasp All-Mother laughed loudly, sensing the massive spider-wasp army appearing behind her, feeling that victory was firmly within her grasp.

On the other side, Morlun also let out a delighted laugh, "You are the fool! Do you think these playthings of yours can stop my hounds?!"

Accompanied by this wild laugh, countless modified and enslaved Spider-Man villains filed out, clashing heavily against the surging spider-wasp army. The situation instantly fell into a gridlock once more, and then both sides looked toward Peter.

Peter drew himself up to his full height, then looked at the others, "What are you all staring at me for? Did you think I was going to call out a bunch of Spider-Men? Well, I do have reinforcements, but... they aren't Spider-Men."

"Are you ready to welcome the Ogre Army?!"

In the distance, the Ogre Hulk came charging over, leading the rest of the ogres. The target of these monsters was glaringly obvious—the spider-wasp mutants and the villain army. Realizing this point, Morlun's face twitched. Making a prompt decision, he let out a loud shout and took his subordinates to beat a nimble retreat. He could still remember the feeling of being batted away by a single slap from the Ogre Hulk, so he left without looking back.

Following that, Peter also left. He tore open a spatial rift with one hand, while his other hand shot out a length of webbing toward the Spider-Wasp All-Mother. The Spider-Wasp All-Mother had assumed she could easily deflect this move, but she failed to do so. This length of webbing possessed an extraordinary hardness for some unknown reason, piercing straight through her exoskeleton and causing her to let out a miserable shriek. But by the time she reacted, Peter was already gone.

Only the Spider-Wasp All-Mother was left on the field. She could not help but laugh out loud; what use were these guys? Did they really think that relying on these mortals would allow them to withstand the power of Lord Shathra? No, she could already envision the scene of these pathetic wretches being turned into her children.

Thus, the Spider-Wasp All-Mother just stood there laughing, watching the Ogre Hulk charge into her army, stretch out his arms, tear apart the bodies of the spider-wasp forces, and...

Stuff them into his mouth?

At this exact split second, the Spider-Wasp All-Mother's smile froze completely.
