"Are you serious? Transformers? Even if you're using this stuff, you're a much better fit for the Decepticons, Ultron!"
Inside these knockoff Black Optimus Prime units were Ultron-Men serving as core engines. However, Peter could sense the positions of these Ultron-Men using his Ki sensing, allowing him to easily tear the knockoff Optimus Primes apart directly without harming the people inside.
Though, truth be told—while Marvel's version of Transformers was strictly limited to the comics—the design of these bootleg Optimus Primes clearly mirrored the first three movies. And just like their film counterparts, they were fragile enough for him to rip straight open.
[I consider myself more of an Autobot, Spider-Man. Humanity craves a savior; it is in your nature. Humans are such lazy and incompetent creatures that whenever a disaster strikes, they pray for someone to come save them.]
Another bootleg Optimus Prime used magnetic force to attract the top half of the torn-apart unit—the half with the head—onto its own hand. Then, using nanomachines to link them together, it transformed into a two-headed Optimus Prime.
Next, it drew a longsword from within its body.
[You pray to heroes, you pray to rulers, you pray to gods—you pray to the law, even when it is unjust. You pray for slave owners to treat you well, you pray for your enemies to be merciful, you pray for aliens to be friendly.]
As Ultron spoke, he swung the longsword toward Peter: [And while you pray for a miracle, I descend—just like the Autobots, a group of mechanical lifeforms from another world, generously sacrificing themselves for humanity.]
"Sacrificing yourself? That's the funniest joke I've ever heard. Besides, if things were really as you say, I wouldn't even be standing here!"
Mechanical claws extended from Peter's back, firing energy beams that struck one of the knockoff Optimus Prime's heads, blowing it to pieces. Taking advantage of the robot's staggering motion, Peter snatched its greatsword and used it to gut the machine, dragging out the two Ultron-Men serving as its cores and hurling them together onto his massive web.
"I've never prayed for any of those things."
Even after being brought down, the fallen black two-headed Optimus Prime could still produce sound, responding to Peter.
[You pray that you can do a little more. Beings like you and the Avengers are anomalies, because pure altruism—devoid of any drive for species survival—is impossible to comprehend.]
Perhaps there was no time to overthink it. Looking at the web packed full of enemies, Peter heard the sirens of NYPD police cars approaching. Sensing carefully, he realized his Spider-Sense hadn't triggered at all. Then, George Stacy called him.
[We received reports of Spider-Man fighting near the docks. Peter, are you alright over there? I'm coming to back you up right now.]
"A pretty big haul, George. Hurry on over."
Soon, the sirens drew closer, and two police cruisers pulled up to the nearby street. George Stacy stepped out of a cruiser, gun in hand.
In the very next instant, he and his partner were impaled like shish kebabs by Symbiote tentacles.
Under his Ki sensing, Peter could clearly feel what these so-called officers actually were. He ripped off the fake George Stacy's face, exposing the mechanical internal framework beneath.
"Technological craft from the Mechanical Avengers... Nicely done, Ultron. You can even affect my Spider-Sense now—
—Wait..."
It wasn't surprising that his Spider-Sense could be affected. Otto Octavius had long since discovered that Scorpion could suppress it, so countermeasures had already been developed.
And Peter himself wasn't particularly affected—he had plenty of other tricks up his sleeve, after all. But he immediately thought of the others. Jessica didn't have Spider-Sense to begin with, and Gwen had other ways to dodge danger. But Cindy was the exception; she might not be able to deal with these stealth units.
Realizing this, Peter immediately prepared to swing over and help Cindy.
Ultron, meanwhile, assumed an air of all-knowing foresight.
[You see, this is your weakness. I have countless ways to deal with you, Spider-Man.]
"Give it a rest, Ultron. I'm already on my—"
Before Peter could swing very far, a series of lightning bolts crackled across the high-voltage power lines in the air. A sudden, sharp detonation followed, sending a shockwave that knocked him flat onto the ground.
A nearby cell phone—belonging to a passerby or left behind—was still broadcasting Ultron's voice.
[Thanks to the network upgrades OsCorp Tech provided for the NYPD, the power company's software control over the city's power grid, and the connected vehicles throughout the city, I can control virtually this entire metropolis, Spider-Man. That means you and your friends are trapped right inside it.]
[You claim to be New York's friendly neighbor, but when the entire city becomes your enemy, what will you do?]
Knocked down by the blast, Peter picked himself up from the ground and dusted himself off. Since the explosion had occurred far away and dealt no real damage, he shrugged it off with indifference: "You're wrong, Ultron. This city isn't—"
Before Peter could even finish his sentence, a nearby fire hydrant suddenly burst open, drenching him with a torrent of water.
Ultron added quite helpfully: [When Tony Stark installed arc reactors across New York, he also upgraded the city's fire safety systems, which included connecting fire hydrants to the network—though I honestly have no idea what connecting fire hydrants to the internet is supposed to accomplish. By the way, what were you about to say?]
Peter felt genuinely speechless. "This city wasn't built by technology and networks. It was built by people using their own talents and wisdom—"
Ultron took the opportunity to shut off the fire hydrant's water flow.
[Regardless, you now know that I am ubiquitous here.] Ultron continued his babbling: [I will let you know how long each of your friends manages to resist until the end. Soon, you will all realize that resistance is completely futile.]
At this point, Ultron seized on a sudden breakthrough: [Target: Iron Man has been captured. The Avengers will realize very shortly just how laughable your resistance really is.]
"That's a real shame. Since you can't laugh, I guess I'll just have to do the laughing for you."
Ultron remained silent, continuously modifying Tony Stark. Peter continued his trek, waiting for updates.
Yet during the long wait that followed, Ultron seemed to have completely forgotten about the matter, mentioning it no further. As Peter traveled, he couldn't help but ask out of curiosity: "What's wrong? Looks like you ran into a bit of a glitch."
[The Avengers are indeed one of the greatest threats to human peace.]
Having been provoked by who-knows-what, Ultron began preaching his anti-Avengers doctrine once again.
[Therefore, all Avengers must be eliminated.]
