The doorbell wasn't actually the doorbell at the front door. It was the buzzer at the main entrance downstairs.

The security measures in a high-end community like Turtle Bay were quite thorough. People the security staff didn't recognize would usually be stopped at the first-floor security desk, leaving them no opportunity to sneak upstairs.

Although BB had the ability to answer the door, its ability to identify visitors wasn't particularly reliable. So under normal circumstances, someone in the household had to answer.

As long as Skye wasn't in her room, whether she was studying or doing something else, the youngest person in the household was usually the one who answered the door.

The moment she heard the buzzer, she ran over.

The mail carrier wouldn't normally ring the buzzer when delivering a letter, but Skye couldn't help praying that perhaps the mail carrier had come in person to deliver her admission letter.

"Henry, someone's here for you. It's a man I don't know. I let them come up."

There was a hint of disappointment in the little girl's voice.

"Coming."

The Kryptonian lazily walked over.

Beside the fireplace, the "tabby cat" Katie was curled up like a warm cushion, serving as a pillow for the old grandmother. The elderly woman herself was sprawled lazily across Katie.

As Skye passed Henry, she suddenly pounced onto Katie and sprawled across her.

The tiger raised her head and gave several dissatisfied growls.

When I don't show my temper, you really think I'm Hello Kitty!

But after making eye contact with the Kryptonian biped, Katie lowered her head again.

Whatever. The cub was light. Letting her jump around on her wasn't a big deal.

She had plenty of fat anyway.

If Henry had telepathy, he would definitely have hauled this inexplicably proud tiger to her feet and taken her out for seven days and seven nights of wilderness training!

The leopard-shaped configuration of the Duck-Leopard armor had originally been designed with plenty of room to spare. Even so, it had already been adjusted twice to accommodate Katie's size!

This tiger-pig was seriously getting fat beyond all reason.

Of course, Henry ignored Katie's astonishing current size. Including her tail, she was already nearly four meters long, making her an exceptionally enormous tiger even among the various tiger subspecies.

There was nothing to be done about it.

Her nutrition was simply too good...

As Henry walked toward the door, he wondered who he knew who would come to Catherine Hepburn's house looking for him.

And judging from the voice Skye had just used over the intercom, it was definitely someone he had never heard before.

Unfortunately, the little girl hadn't learned proper etiquette when receiving guests. She hadn't even asked who the visitor was before letting them come upstairs and telling Henry to deal with them.

When Henry reached the door, the only thing he noticed was a pair of eyes.

A pair of lifeless yet incredibly deep blue eyes.

They were like the abyss at the bottom of the sea, as though they were going to suck him inside...

Reveille!

The blaring sound of a horn made his head ache. He had no choice but to wake up from the hard bed.

Wait...

Since when had his alarm sound changed?

Even if Skye could hack into his alarm clock, there was no way she'd add some completely nonexistent military music to it.

He at least used popular songs as his alarm.

What normal person would use a military reveille as an alarm clock?

"Henry, get up. You don't want Sergeant Instructor to come charging in on the last day and scream in your face while spraying spit everywhere."

His bunkmate spoke while making his bed.

His name was Blair Aoxing, a Native American from the Apache tribe...

Damn it.

Why did he know someone he had never met before?

Had he transmigrated again?

But as someone accustomed to going with the flow, Henry still got up quickly, made his bed, and changed clothes.

Technically, he shouldn't have known what he was supposed to do.

Yet his body seemed to possess its own memories, moving on instinct.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Henry secretly observed his surroundings.

The space was quite large. Dozens of single beds and lockers were arranged in rows on both sides of the room.

Everyone on the beds was busy with something, most of them putting on identical clothing that differed only in size.

Judging by the bizarre appearances of quite a few people, Henry guessed that everyone here was a mutant!

It was an incredibly unbelievable deduction.

He was in a military barracks.

And an even more unbelievable conclusion followed.

This was a mutant military camp!

There was another question Henry didn't yet dare to confirm.

His current body felt heavy.

He had lost his super-strength and super-speed!

The density of exclamation marks in his thoughts accurately represented the degree of Henry's astonishment.

One second, he had been at Catherine Hepburn's house.

The next, he'd found himself in some inexplicable military camp, and he might have lost most of his Kryptonian superpowers.

Urged along by the acting squad leader, everyone put on their athletic uniforms and assembled on the company parade ground.

The officer leading them was a young second lieutenant platoon leader.

He was quite young, but his sharply defined features made him look like a seasoned veteran who had seen combat and blood.

Once everyone was lined up, he immediately led them on a run.

Although the recruits had already completed their basic training, their daily physical training routine wouldn't change until new orders were issued.

As they ran, the duty officer led the cadence, and everyone responded:

"Ah, double time, Marines!

"Get motivated, get motivated! Don't let me down, don't let me down!

"Ah, one, two, three, four! Marine Corps!

"Army, Navy, Air Force, all are trash! The Marines are the greatest! We need action every day, never afraid of hardship, always looking for more suffering!

"Parris Island, birthplace of the Corps! Cliffs above and beaches below! Hollywood dreams we can't forget! San Diego forged us into steel!

"Physical training goes all day long! From dawn till dusk, the drills never stop! I can hold my head high and sing, sweat dripping into the dust, my spirit never yielding!

"Training makes the sickly strong! Lean, tough, strong men! Put on the green and march with pride! I am a Marine!

"Soldiers shipped out from the taverns of Belleau! Marine history will never be forgotten! Iwo Jima and Guadalcanal! We were invincible across the Pacific!

"Selected for Saigon, glory comes again! Beirut and Lebanon! In the end, they will forge my honor!

"Ah, one, two, three, four! Marine Corps!"

After several consecutive running cadences with an extremely aggressive flavor, they had roughly finished their five-kilometer warm-up.

Then came several sets of physical exercises, cleaning duty, and breakfast.

Under normal circumstances, this amount of activity wouldn't even register for Henry.

But in this inexplicable military camp, he actually felt tired!

The fatigue existed only in his limbs and body. Henry's mind remained perfectly clear.

He looked at the second lieutenant leading the run and connected him to someone who should not have existed in his memories.

The second lieutenant platoon leader was named Frank Castle.

After the incident in September 2001, he had been stationed in Afghanistan for fifteen months.

This young man, who had enlisted at eighteen, had climbed all the way from ordinary soldier training to becoming a junior officer.

Because of his outstanding performance, he had been transferred to command the mutant battalion as one of its combat-experienced training instructors.

Once training was complete, the unit would be reorganized on the spot into a combat formation. Most of its organizational structure would remain unchanged, and the unit would be deployed somewhere.

For now, everyone was simply waiting for the reorganization orders and their next instructions.
