Chapter 194 - Chapter 194: Regret

"Hmm, the overall pacing of this movie has some issues, making it feel a bit drawn out. Moreover, the core story it truly wants to convey is mostly hidden within various metaphors. If the audience doesn't have a prior understanding of these metaphors, it might be difficult to grasp the director's intention."

"So, from a viewing experience perspective, the entire film might feel a bit strange, and the plot development isn't smooth or natural enough. If one just watches it casually, they might ultimately see it as just an ordinary movie with no highlights."

In the original work, Makima loved watching movies and hated bad ones. She gave a very serious review of this film. Renji didn't know much about these things and listened in a daze.

After speaking, Makima looked up at the time on the lobby wall, stood up, and straightened her clothes.

"Alright, let's go. It's time for the next movie."

The second film they watched was a tear-jerker, but Renji found it to be quite a failure.

Because some of the emotional scenes in the film seemed overly artificial and contrived, and there was almost no emotional buildup, Renji simply couldn't get into it.

Only the first emotional scene at the very beginning was passable, with many people in the screening room secretly wiping away tears, but this was almost entirely due to the excellent BGM.

Finally, in an emotional segment at the end of the movie, when the background BGM played again, Renji was amused. He laughed and turned to look at Makima beside him.

As expected, Makima was unmoved, and a clear expression of disinterest could be seen on her beautiful face.

After leaving the screening room, Renji's evaluation of this movie was that it wasn't even as good as the previous one, which contained metaphors satirizing social reality; at least that one had some dark humor that could make him laugh.

Makima's evaluation was also very direct and concise.

"Hmm, it can only be described as very ordinary. The tear-jerking plot designs were simply too deliberate. Without a doubt, it is a complete and utter bad movie."

Afterward, the two embarked on a movie-watching marathon in the cinema, watching film after film. Whenever a movie ended, Makima would always ask Renji about his feelings and opinions on the film they had just watched during the waiting period for the next one.

Renji truly didn't know how to evaluate these movies. He knew very little about the field of cinema in general. He didn't particularly like or have a great passion for movies; he would only occasionally go to the cinema to watch one during holidays or when he encountered a subject that particularly interested him.

But Makima was different; she had her own unique insights into every movie, and she would give her own review after each film.

"The music was quite good, but the overall storyline seemed a bit too bland. Overall, it can be considered a film of medium-to-above average quality."

"This movie isn't very good. The story is too fake, and the protagonist's motives are not clear at all. It's a bad movie."

"Hmm, I can't evaluate this one. It's the worst, super invincible, terrible movie I've seen so far today."

It was this particular movie that caused a very noticeable change in Makima's reaction.

This movie, to Renji personally, was actually just ordinary.

The female lead in the film came from the bottom of society, toiled diligently every day, barely making ends meet, and therefore harbored deep aversion and resentment towards the upper-class individuals who indulged in a life of luxury and extravagance.

The second female lead, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. As an upper-class figure, she lived a life of privilege and luxury, and naturally disdained the dirty and chaotic environment of those in the lower strata of society.

However, due to certain reasons, these two women, who originally belonged to different worlds and harbored prejudices against each other, were forced to cooperate due to a series of coincidences.

Initially, they were completely at loggerheads, with an explosive atmosphere, unable to stand each other, and every interaction almost escalated into a fight.

But as time passed and they experienced various hardships and setbacks together, the two gradually began to let go of their preconceived notions, attempting to understand and accept each other's true selves.

Ultimately, they not only achieved mutual understanding but also successfully crossed the wall of separation between the upper and lower classes, embracing each other and forming a deep friendship, becoming close confidantes who could talk about anything.

As the movie approached its end, the screen froze on the image of the two embracing passionately.

Renji heard some sounds, looked at Makima, and found that she was crying.

After leaving the screening room, the two waited in the lobby for the next movie to start.

This time, Makima did not ask Renji for his thoughts on the movie they had just watched, nor did she offer her own review.

She simply lowered her head slightly, out of sorts.

Renji felt that Makima had completely immersed herself in the plot presented in the film they had just seen. That movie depicted the complex relationship between the upper and lower classes, a relationship that, to some extent, could be likened to the connection between devils and humans.

Makima had always harbored a dream of creating an ideal world where everyone was equal, and coincidentally, the ending of the movie perfectly echoed this theme.

Renji looked at Makima, and a bold idea suddenly flashed through his mind.

Since Makima was fixated on pursuing a world of equality, why not seize this opportunity to make a move? Catch her off guard, break her preconceived notions about humans, and make her realize that humans are not as inferior as she imagines, nor will everything be firmly controlled by her, the Control Devil.

So first, don't treat Makima as a Control Devil; treat her as an ordinary woman.

Treating her like an ordinary friend, from another perspective, isn't that equivalent to having equal rights with her?

This date should have been just an opportunity for Makima to grow and experience male affection as rumored.

At least, she wouldn't have expected what was to come next.

A bold move.

Renji extended his hands and gently embraced Makima's slender body, pulling her into his arms, feeling her warmth and softness.

"How are you? Do you feel better?"

A crisp "ding" broke the atmosphere. Renji's heart tightened as the system's cold prompt sounded in his ear, repeating three times or more.

"Ding~ Detected Makima's aversion, system rewards 20 points."

"Ding~ Detected Makima's aversion, system rewards 20 points."

"Ding~ Detected Makima's aversion, system rewards 20 points."

…

Renji immediately regretted it, feeling that he had completely overthought things. He could even imagine Makima expressionlessly ordering him to let go in the next second, then looking at him with cold eyes.
