Chapter 662: Ash Before Heaven
She did not look at the threshold, or the prisoners, or Leon.
"Deacon Yu. Nine?"
"Nine, Palace Mistress. All present, all alive." Yu was already on one knee with his report in both hands. "No injuries, no illness, no deaths."
Ji took the report, then went and looked at them herself, one at a time, all nine. It took several minutes and nobody hurried her.
"Loriel," she said, when she had finished.
"They're intact, Palace Mistress." Loriel bowed properly. "They were held in a layer where local time barely advanced. Their bodies experienced under an hour of the twenty-four days. I've examined all nine three times, before and after we crossed out, and I can find no wasting, no depletion, and no lasting effect. They will need to be examined by the medicine court, but I don't expect the court to find anything I missed."
"Good." Ji turned. "Elder Shan."
