The next day.
After visiting the set of "Spider-Man" the previous day, Kyle toured the sets of other films currently being shot by Page Pictures today.
"Final Destination" and "The Butterfly Effect."
And coincidentally, "Final Destination" was scheduled to wrap up filming today.
"Mr. Page, welcome."
As the director of "Final Destination," James Wong was overjoyed by Kyle's presence. All directors want to maintain good relations with production companies; it's their way of survival.
"Mr. Page~"
"Good morning, Mr. Page~"
The lead actors of "Final Destination" were also eager to greet Kyle.
Devon Sawa (male) and Ali Larter (female) were the official leads of "Final Destination." Although their fame was not prominent, and even ten years later they did not become A-list Hollywood stars, their individual achievements were not bad.
Kyle did not show favoritism and still chatted with them amiably.
Finally, when only director James Wong remained, they got down to business.
"Director Wong, Kevin Feige must have told you when 'Final Destination' will be released, right?" Kyle asked.
"That's right!"
James Wong nodded heavily: "Mr. Feige informed me that 'Final Destination' must be completed and released by the end of October."
At this point, James Wong suddenly felt a sense of urgency.
It was already late September, and there was less than a month until the end of October. Even though "Final Destination" was wrapping up today, post-production editing, dubbing, scoring, and submission to the Motion Picture Association of America for review all required time.
One month was indeed a bit tight.
"We understand your concerns."
Kyle smiled: "I discussed the film's special effects with Lucas yesterday, and they are basically complete, with only some finishing touches remaining. Therefore, there aren't many concerns regarding special effects."
"For post-production editing, dubbing, and scoring, I will assign a team of elites from Page Pictures to work overtime to complete it."
"Of course, the most crucial issue remains the Motion Picture Association of America's review."
As he finished speaking, James Wong nodded.
"As far as I know, the Classification and Rating Administration of the Motion Picture Association of America usually takes more than a month, or even longer, to review films not from the Big Six studios," James Wong said.
The Classification and Rating Administration, under the Motion Picture Association of America, has always been the exclusive domain of the Hollywood Big Six.
The only seven seats are currently held by Universal, Warner Bros., 20th Century Fox, Paramount, Disney, Sony Columbia, and the former Hollywood giant MGM.
A seat on the Classification and Rating Administration is one of the hallmarks of a Hollywood giant.
If you are not one of the Big Six companies, and you don't have the backing of a major studio, then your film submission for review and rating will inevitably be difficult.
Delaying the review time is one of the most common tactics.
"Haha! Don't worry, although Page Pictures is not a top Hollywood giant and doesn't have a seat on the Classification and Rating Administration, I am confident that they won't impede me in terms of review and rating," Kyle said confidently.
"Oh?" James Wong immediately showed a surprised expression.
Kyle's words were not arrogant; Page Pictures, as it stood, was not something anyone could easily manipulate.
"Are there any other questions?" Kyle asked with a smile.
Director James Wong immediately guaranteed: "No more questions. I am certain that 'Final Destination' will be released during Halloween."
As for issues like film previews, premieres, and theatrical distribution, he did not ask further, because he knew that Page Pictures could easily handle all of that.
The Halloween season has always been a hot period for horror/thriller films.
Page Pictures naturally wouldn't miss out.
In previous years, Page Pictures successively released the "Wrong Turn" series and "The Purge" series, which were always popular films during the Halloween season, highly anticipated by fans. However, this year, Page Pictures did not release new sequels to these two films.
Too much of a good thing!
Whether it was a new installment of the "Wrong Turn" series or "The Purge" series, Kyle was confident that they would garner considerable box office revenue upon release. However, to extend the lifespan of these two film series, Kyle decided to pause for a year to maintain anticipation and freshness.
This year's Halloween season, Page Pictures is focusing on "Final Destination"!
...In the afternoon.
Kyle then went to the set of "The Butterfly Effect."
Directors Todd Phillips and Christopher Nolan had prepared everything well in advance.
Michael Fassbender, playing the male lead;
Amy Adams, playing the female lead;
...The entire crew erupted in cheers and applause as soon as they saw Kyle arrive.
"I have nothing much to say, and if I do, I'll only say you all did a fantastic job!"
"Do you think I'm exaggerating?"
"That's right, I am... praising you!"
"Oh my goodness~ your work is so outstanding, as your boss, if I couldn't see that, wouldn't I be blind?"
"Todd Phillips, you lovely fellow. Years ago, when you were the associate director for the 'America's Got Talent' variety show, I already felt you should be directing films. And sure enough, you don't even know how excellent you are at directing films."
"Christopher Nolan, you are the second director of 'The Butterfly Effect,' co-directing this film with Todd Phillips, and you did a splendid job. Well, you said you planned to take a break. If you've rested enough now, I have many projects waiting for you to direct."
Whether it was the lead actors or other crew members, Kyle started by praising them effusively. Well, saying nice things doesn't cost money anyway.
Why not?
Kyle naturally adored directors Todd Phillips and Christopher Nolan, after all, they could make good movies for Kyle and earn money for his company.
Nolan needs no further introduction; films like "The Dark Knight" trilogy and "Inception" propelled him to legendary status, earning him the moniker "God Nolan."
Todd Phillips might be a new director right now, but he is by no means an ordinary talent.
The low-budget "The Hangover" series, each installment of which grossed hundreds of millions of dollars worldwide, made him anything but an average director.
Moreover, the famous "Joker (2019)" was also directed by Todd Phillips... A new day.
The sun was shining brightly~
Kyle received an invitation.
An invitation from Paramount Pictures regarding the "Tomb Raider" film project.
"What?"
"Jordan, old friend, you didn't make a mistake, did you?"
"Yes, yes, yes. I am interested in joining your 'Tomb Raider' project, but I only have the idea of investing, not personally serving as a producer, you know."
"You know, I'm very busy!"
For the past year, Kyle had been very busy. He didn't even have time to personally produce films from his own company, let alone Paramount's current invitation.
Jordan said on the phone: "Kyle, although I am a member of Paramount and have my own stance, as a friend, I think you should accept this invitation. It's a goodwill gesture from Paramount Pictures, one of the Hollywood Big Six~"
Invitation?
Goodwill?
Kyle: "..."
In fact, Kyle understood Jordan's meaning.
Between the major Hollywood film companies, there was often friction and competition, but also cooperation.
"Kyle, you need to understand one thing. Page Pictures always completing production work alone is not conducive to expanding your network and will make others perceive you as a lone wolf. You know, the major Hollywood film companies will definitely suppress lone wolves."
"As a friend, I think you should seriously consider it."
"If you accept this invitation and become a producer for the 'Tomb Raider' project, it means you've accepted Paramount's goodwill. Then, your relationship with Paramount in the future will definitely be more cooperative than competitive."
"Similarly, Universal, Sony Columbia, Disney, and the other Big Six companies will also cooperate more with you in the future. In this way, your Page Pictures will have greater room for survival."
Jordan's words, though blunt, were profoundly true.
