Chapter 408 - Chapter 408: Safety

The moment Orsaga's avatar consumed the Star God fragment,

A surge of brilliant, violent light burst forth deep within the Crimson Heaven, inside the divine palace.

Chaotic energy and a dormant will surged—attempting to awaken.

But the very next instant, a slender hand reached out and casually crushed the awakening force, forcing it back into silence.

"If this were a full-powered Star God, maybe it'd have a say… But just a fragment? Know your place."

With that cold remark, Orsaga shattered the fragment into countless microscopic particles.

Everything hidden within it was exposed to him.

Then, time reversed—and the fragment reformed into its original state.

Break. Rebuild. Break again. Rebuild again.

In this endless cycle of deconstruction and restoration, Orsaga sought to extract the core secret it held—something that would allow him to exist outside of the Warp without restriction.

Energy architecture.

Will imprints.

Physical-universe law patterns...

The residual data of the Void Dragon embedded in the shard was being deciphered piece by piece.

His identity as a Chaos God granted Orsaga immense power. In this universe, he had nearly reached the status of a Demon Lord. But that power came with limitations.

It restricted his freedom to move through the material universe.

He could only manifest physically through avatars in other dimensions.

As for escaping this universe entirely—he'd have to give up his Chaos God status, which was a massive loss.

So instead, he sought a way to bypass the constraints tied to his godhood.

As he worked, the palace's courtesans—who had been performing dances around the throne—shared quick glances and quietly stepped back.

They knew better than to disturb him at a time like this.

The entire hall fell into reverent silence.

Then, a calm and clear female voice echoed through the chamber:

"That thing… is it giving you trouble?"

The courtesans froze—but when they turned and saw the speaker, they let out quiet sighs of relief.

It was none other than one of the palace's six true mistresses: Golariel.

She walked forward, her presence steady and composed.

Orsaga glanced at her and smiled, withdrawing his gaze from the fragment.

"You're already able to control two bodies at once?"

Yes—Golariel was simultaneously present in two places.

One attending the end-of-century feast on Earth...

And the other now standing before him in the Crimson Heaven.

As she approached the divine throne, a seat automatically appeared beside Orsaga.

In this realm, only six beings were permitted to sit alongside him.

Taking her seat, Golariel leaned gently against his shoulder and rubbed her temples.

"I'm still not used to it," she admitted.

"Sometimes, my limbs get all out of sync. I really envy your multitasking."

Even now, she was controlling her avatar on Earth while her true body interacted with Orsaga here.

It felt like playing two roles at once—and it was still exhausting.

"I just got used to it over time," Orsaga replied softly, brushing a hand across her cheek.

"Back when I was still a Lesser Demon, I was already splitting my awareness between bodies."

Then, in a gentle voice, he added:

"This Star God fragment really isn't a big deal. You focus on the feast—no need to waste a good party."

"Alright…"

Seeing that he wasn't lying, Golariel didn't press the issue. She closed her eyes, shifting her full attention back to her avatar on Earth.

Multitasking was still tricky for her.

In fact, it wasn't just Golariel.

All six of them—Alison, Petra, Iris, Kayla, Elsa—had their true bodies residing here in the Crimson Heaven. The versions walking around Earth were just avatars.

Even now, despite his overwhelming power, Orsaga never underestimated the dangers of the world outside.

The other Chaos Gods were not exactly the friendly type.

They were bound to be watching him—this newcomer, this unexpected variable among their ranks.

And undoubtedly, they each had tricks up their sleeves.

If they ever discovered how important the six women were to him...

They would absolutely exploit that weakness.

The six of them were Orsaga's greatest vulnerability.

And he would never expose that weakness unless he had full control over the situation.

That's why they only ever traveled via avatars.

And why each one was always accompanied by one of Orsaga's own avatars as well.

On this point—there would be no compromise.

---

Earth, London outskirts. A private laboratory.

After leaving Orsaga's estate, Ra arrived here.

As one of the few true immortals still alive after thousands of years,

he was also Earth's foremost scholar.

Every piece of lab equipment—he operated with ease.

He inserted the USB drive Orsaga had given him into a terminal.

As data loaded, countless folders and subdirectories began appearing on the screen.

"Advanced Alloys," "Synthetic Rubber," "Artificial Blood," "Clone Organs"...

The sheer variety of fields was staggering.

Clicking on any one of them instantly revealed in-depth subcategories.

Every necessary prerequisite technology and equipment specification was meticulously listed.

Even Ra, calm and composed as he usually was, couldn't help but feel a jolt of awe.

This drive… contained far more than he'd anticipated.

It was no exaggeration to say it held the essence of an interstellar civilization.

With it, anyone could build a space-faring empire from scratch.

Of course, that assumed you had the equipment to read it.

After all, even if you were ready to build a civilization—you'd still need hands to start.

Having skimmed through most of the categories, Ra exhaled deeply.

Some of the pressure he'd been feeling eased slightly.

But at the same time—his wariness toward Orsaga intensified.

Especially when he remembered how casually Orsaga had asked for that strange dragon fragment.

No one—not a single soul—knew that Ra had sealed the creature on Mars.

But somehow, Orsaga had spoken the location without hesitation.

It left a knot in Ra's stomach.

As if nothing could be hidden from that being's gaze.

Even if he knew it might just be paranoia, it was a dangerous thought to ignore.

And it made him wonder—

What would humanity do… two millennia from now, when Orsaga inevitably turned against them?

He had no illusions about Orsaga being a benevolent god.

His very existence was an existential threat.

Precautions needed to be taken. Plans needed to be made.

But for now, with 20,000 years of buffer time, he focused on digesting the technological data.

What he didn't know, however, was this:

The moment he'd allowed that defensive thought to form in his mind...

As the one being targeted, Orsaga—miles away—instantly sensed it.

As a Chaos God, so long as someone in this universe thought, discussed, or recorded anything about him without shielding their thoughts,

he would automatically perceive it.

Ra, powerful as he was, had no idea such a power even existed.

And he hadn't even tried to shield his mind.

While Orsaga couldn't read Ra's full thoughts, since the man was a high-level psyker,

he could still detect the intent behind them—benevolent or hostile.

And now, he knew.

In response, Orsaga simply smiled at Golariel and the others beside him.

Casually chatting and laughing with them, he quietly mused:

'I'm looking forward to seeing how you try to deal with me. Hopefully, it won't be something too boring...'
