A few moments before,
The moment Luke had failed to divine All For One's status, and anything related to him, he had realized that something had gone wrong.
From all the records he had read on All For One in his previous life, he had learned that the Villain had been arrogant enough to never accept help.
All For One would rather go out of his way to steal the Quirk that he thought would be of help to him, instead of asking the original user to assist him, Luke had believed.
So, only a day ago, it had made little sense to him that the Villain would accept Conformity's faith.
And yet, the unthinkable happened.
The failure of divination, given that he had all the cards to divine an outcome, meant only one thing — All For One had let Conformity corrupt him!
With that thought, Luke had decrypted that the Villain would kidnap Momo and Midoriya using the Warping technique that none of the Heroes knew about yet. It was only a matter of finding out the children's instantaneous location first, which Conformity would do easily.
So, Luke had to plan not only accurately, but also precisely.
He had no way to divine anything related to Conformity; however, he could bring someone into the picture who would take care of that matter for him.
That's why Luke had planned for Alexander's appearance on the battlefield, who was backed by Singularity. Because if Alex appeared, then he would certainly come with the Radiant who had brought Bakugo to the USA, using a teleportation Quirk.
With Singularity countering Conformity's unpredictability, Luke wouldn't need to worry about the exact timing of the events.
Also, given how powerful Alexander was, it wouldn't be difficult for him to hold back All For One until All Might arrived.
Later, once even more Heroes joined All Might and Alexander, even All For One wouldn't be a match for them.
It was then that Conformity would fully enter the picture, Luke had theorized.
Because if All Might was fated to lose the embers of One For All, then, one way or another, it would happen, despite all the favorable circumstances.
Luke had already seen how Conformity could affect Quirks, as in the case of the Nomu's head before Stain had taken it away, and later with Shigaraki at the LA Detention Center in the USA.
Therefore, it was highly likely that something similar would unfold again this time.
The moment Luke had seen Endeavor and others joining All Might and Alexander against All For One, he had all but confirmed that things were playing out exactly as he had divined, decrypted, and deliberated them.
He owed nothing to All Might.
In fact, All Might losing One For All would only benefit him in the long term, opening the field for him even more.
From his previous life, Luke already knew that All Might would survive for a long time even after losing the traces of the Quirk he carried in this fight. He would slowly succumb to his injury, but it wouldn't happen for at least another decade or two.
So, Luke had absolutely no plan of interfering in this battle, as long as nothing happened to Momo.
He had gone so far as to keep even Mushroom out of the fight, the only being other than All For One and All Might who could go toe-to-toe against All For One.
And, yet…
As Luke had stood on the skyscraper's roof's edge, he had felt so… helpless.
In that moment, he had felt like he had given up fighting against Fate without even realizing it.
If everything happened as it had in his previous life, then what was the point of his resurrection? What was the point of all the nights he had spent staring at the corners of his room, thinking of his wife and his unborn child? What was the point of… anything?!
No.
Perhaps, fate was eternal.
Perhaps, it was not, but… how would he ever know if he didn't even try, no?
He could try bending the fate to his will — to prove a point — to himself, right?
Even as Luke had rushed toward the scene of the battle, fueled by these insane thoughts, he had known that he had crossed a line drawn by fate that… he should have better left untouched.
When he saw All For One take a monstrous form, that feeling had become stronger.
He dared not use Descorrer because the thing he was about to attempt needed Nyx in perfect condition. He had even canceled the Invisibility Quirk on her, letting her regain a touch of her Stamina.
Instead, he was using Flaming Jump to rapidly cross the distance, decrypting that Singularity would let Alexander counter All For One's transformation.
That decryption became Luke's greatest error, though.
And he soon realized why Miss Justice had warned him not to rely on a decryption that involved Conformity and Singularity.
Luke had absolutely no idea that Alexander's Quirk — Gravity Crusher — was already an evolved form of the Quirk he had previously held, Weight Accumulation.
So, the moment he saw All For One decimating Alex, the feeling that he had angered fate itself… became reality, making him laugh.
Luke laughed as All For One destroyed Endeavor, Edgeshot, and Kamui Woods.
He laughed as All For One's fist met All Might's, the BOOM making him crumple like paper.
Luke laughed the loudest as the embers within All Might burned the brightest before flickering out of existence — the Hero putting his absolutely everything in his last punch.
And when All For One survived the punch that should have ended his tale, as fated, Luke couldn't help but smile, finally appearing on the site.
Sonic booms rang out as All For One appeared behind All Might and punched a broken All Might.
Gran Torino shouted, and, with one great push of air from the soles of his feet, he appeared between All For One's fist and All Might's back.
Crunch!
Boooooooooom!!
All Might was sent flying — Gran Torino exploding into a shower of bloody mist.
Or that's how it played out on the screens displaying this ghastly event to the world.
Those cameras failed to catch the minute disturbances — like a force pulling Gran Torino back… like All For One's leg, on which he had put all his weight, slipping as if he had stepped on grease and… a bullet of air hitting All Might's back before the monster's punch could even touch him.
These hidden details were minute, almost unimpressive, but… they saved All Might and Gran Torino's lives.
A figure blurred past the 15 ft tall All For One and landed between the Hero and the Villain, making All Might experience a Deja Vu as he came to a rest after rolling on the ground.
Carrying a legless Gran Torino with one arm, Luke put a hand on his top hat to keep it from getting blown away.
Then, uncaring of the shocked gazes of All For One and All Might, he looked up toward the fiery blackness.
[… Luke…] Miss Justice sighed. [There's a reason… There's a reason I named it so.]
The corners of Luke's mouth lifted behind the clownish mask as he reached out toward the blackness.
"Insanity…" Dr. Blessed said, snapping his fingers. "… in an illusion…"
