Chapter 3 - Chapter 2: The Desire Beyond Duty

The morning of his 140th birthday arrived with unusual stillness.

The forest, which had been his home for decades, felt different—as if it too sensed a turning point. Shiva sat before a small stone altar beneath an ancient tree, his eyes closed, his breath steady. The faint scent of herbs and earth filled the air as he chanted softly, offering prayers not for himself, but for the generations yet to come.

His voice was calm, but his mind was not.

For over a century, every decision he had made was for others—his family, his country, humanity, and the countless lives that depended on the systems he built. Even his time in the forest had been dedicated to progress, to research, to shaping a better future.

But today…

Something within him had shifted.

As the final chant faded, Shiva slowly opened his eyes. The sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting moving patterns across the ground. For a moment, he simply watched.

Then he spoke quietly, as if confessing to the universe itself.

"I have done enough… for the world."

The words carried no arrogance. Only truth.

For the first time in his life, he allowed himself to think—not as a leader, not as a protector, but as a man who once had dreams of his own.

Dreams of exploration.

Of standing at the edge of the unknown.

Of pushing beyond the limits of human existence—not for duty, but for the thrill of discovery.

Dreams he had buried long ago.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

"Now… it's my turn."

Later that day, his vast family gathered. Generations stood before him—children, grandchildren, and even great-great-grandchildren. Some of the youngest barely understood who he truly was, yet they felt his presence deeply.

Shiva looked at them with quiet pride.

"I will be leaving," he said calmly.

Silence fell.

No one dared to stop him.

Because everyone knew—

When Shiva decided something… the world adjusted, not him.
