Chapter 359: Players Overwhelmed by Crisis
Its mere presence
was enough to crush the will to resist in ordinary ninjas.
Even Navy admirals and Whitebeard himself felt their hairs stand on end when they sensed the aura of the Evil God.
Divine Light of the Evil God!
A black and red halo flared, enveloping the massive statue-like figure in a twisted blend of divinity and evil.
It blotted out the sky, its form both awe-inspiring and horrifying.
Those caught beneath the divine light—still living civilians and shinobi—
gradually fell into a trance, their eyes blank as they began worshipping the Evil God like devoted followers,
even as it prepared to consume their lives.
Each act of devotion
only intensified the Evil God's aura. It suddenly raised its massive arm,
reaching toward the earth.
At its fingertips, five swirling black-red energy spheres appeared, crackling with chaotic arcs.
BOOM!
Five beams of destructive divine energy swept across the Land of Hot Water
like razor-sharp claws growing madly from the Evil God's hand.
The country, which had withstood the rampage of countless Abyssal Evil Gods,
was instantly overrun in the wake of just five beams from the true body.
Entire towns melted in an instant.
Even Konoha, protected by a Level 9 Defense Wall enhanced with the [Flame Blade] trait—
so strong that even the Ten-Tails' ultimate Tailed Beast Ball would struggle to break it—
Was being shredded like butter by a hot knife.
Two successive beams of divine energy sliced through the fortress-like walls,
melting the enchantments as if they were nothing.
The flame blades shot out from Konoha's defense array,
but they were pitifully weak—utterly ineffective.
"So this is what a Dark Gold-tier monster is like…"
Gulp.
Samui from Kumogakure swallowed hard,
her chest rising and falling rapidly, feeling just like she had when she first faced a Tailed Beast while still a fledgling.
An overwhelming, indescribable sense of powerlessness—
perfectly embodied by the Evil God.
"Navy Intelligence has done extensive research…"
Strategist Tsuru struggled to steady her breath. "Even Imu or Orochimaru, at levels 30 to 39 with about 3000 combat power,
probably wouldn't be able to defeat this monster."
After the game's update,
Navy Headquarters had allocated significant resources to study the power scale, especially focusing on combat rankings.
Standard monsters had combat power equal to 10× their level.
Elite monsters: 20×.
Commanders: 30×.
Lords: 50×.
"But the Evil God appears to have combat power close to 4000,
a full 100× its level. This is what defines a Dark Gold-tier monster."
Tsuru inhaled deeply.
Even the top players in the Reincarnation Game were beginning to grasp just how terrifying pollution creatures could be.
And—
Navy Intelligence had already confirmed that the appearance of corrupted monsters in reality would only increase.
The assault on Konoha was just the beginning.
Humanity's combat capabilities were still far too weak.
Devil Fruits, ninjutsu, swordsmanship, Zanpakutō, psychic powers…
Even mastered to their peak,
they could barely match elites or commanders.
To fight a Lord-tier?
The Reincarnation Game was humanity's only hope.
Equipment.
Forging.
Enhancements.
Gems…
These were the tools that allowed players to challenge corrupted monsters.
But the cost in reward points was massive—it couldn't be achieved by hiding in a corner.
"All Navy forces, do not worry about supplies. Use your full strength to take down this Dark Gold-tier Evil God!"
Tsuru's orders were quickly relayed across the alliance.
The [Navy Headquarters] alliance warehouse was opened.
All potions were made available for free to Navy players during the battle.
Revitalized by the sudden influx of support,
the Navy forces—previously losing steam—were re-energized.
The stronger the monster,
the greater the rewards. This was the law of the Reincarnation Game.
"Kumogakure players! Don't let the Navy take the first kill on a Dark Gold-tier monster! That would be a disgrace to the Shinobi World!"
Raikage A roared, his entire body wreathed in Lightning Release chakra,
condensing into the fearsome [Lightning Cloak].
Hearing his call,
Kumogakure players entered their strongest forms.
BOOM!
Two massive Tailed Beasts landed on the battlefield, kicking up clouds of dust.
Gyūki under Killer Bee, and Matatabi under Yugito—both now perfected Jinchūriki, each with matching Reincarnation Game abilities.
"Yo! This enemy's wild, yo!
Slay the Evil God, yo! Then I'll let you get a second headpiece, fo' real—"
The Eight-Tails inside Killer Bee rapped from within.
Killer Bee had spent almost none of his reward points on himself—
he'd invested everything into Gyūki, giving him the abilities of Japanese oni gods.
Each of Gyūki's tails inherited the power of a yokai deity.
Tail One: Shuten-dōji!
Controlling the mountain-sized Tailed Beast,
Killer Bee charged the Evil God. One of Gyūki's tails transformed into the form of Shuten-dōji,
spewing blazing monster flames.
"Burn, Evil God!"
To ordinary shinobi, the Tailed Beast was a mountain.
But in front of the Evil God, it was like a flea—landing on its shoulder.
The demonic fire engulfed the Evil God's colossal head.
Shuten-dōji's flames weren't ordinary.
Though not yet at high level, they could melt powerful magical barriers with ease.
Even for an Evil God,
this should have left a mark—right?
Killer Bee poured all his remaining energy into boosting the fire's temperature.
Suddenly—
From the Evil God's unmoving body, a deeper, more terrifying black-red flame burst forth.
In an instant,
it consumed the monster fire completely—
And with it, Killer Bee and Gyūki.
"Run!"
That was the last voice Killer Bee heard before he crashed into a deep crater,
his body wracked with searing pain from the evil flames.
But what stunned him most—
Gyūki was gone?
No response, no chakra signature.
In a final act of loyalty,
Gyūki had allowed himself to be burned alive by the Evil God's flame,
which didn't just melt flesh—it corroded energy and soul alike.
Gyūki was dead.
"Damn you, Evil God… I'll kill you!"
With shattered shades and fury in his eyes,
Killer Bee raised his sword—ready to charge again.
He had once hated being a Jinchūriki, hated Gyūki.
But in time, the tailed beast had become his most important partner.
"Stop!"
Raikage A stopped him with a heavy hand.
"Gyūki is dead. Without him, you're barely an elite-level player. Rushing in now is suicide. Do you want Gyūki's sacrifice to be for nothing?"
