Thane's wedding
Mahira walked down the aisle as if she was the bride. She was a little bit late so when she made her entrance everyone looked at her with amazement.
They thought she was the bride. She looked so beautiful in the lehenga. It complemented her skin. The makeup was minimum, nothing to cover up her caramel skin. She wasn't light-skinned nor too dark skinned just minimal.
She had a smile on her face but deep down her heart was so broken. Mahira finally took her seat in the front row. Two minutes later Ariana walked down the aisle with her mother 'Rebecca Montez'.
The bridal song was soft and sweet, decorations around feminine and expensive. Ariana had a smile on her face, a smile she didn't try to hide. It was poised and didn't give away any other emotion besides happiness.
She got the alter and took Thane's hand. Thane gave her a quick smile and the priest spoke. Wedding vow's where exchanged. Ariana couldn't stop flaunting her wedding ring and smiling to guests as soon as they were finally husband and wife.
The wedding ceremony ended and then it was the reception. Everyone had changed into elegant gowns but Mahira still wore her lehenga. She didn't enjoy watching the guy she loved marrying someone else.
She sat at the table opposite the bride and grooms table. His family was huge. Mahira occasionally smiled when she saw Elena. She admired the kid as much as she did Thane and maybe even more than Thane himself.
She didn't feel comfortable in such a place, she knew she didn't belong. The dress she wore wasn't even bought with her own money, but it was the first time she ever saw Elena and she wanted to cherish the moment because she was uncertain if she'd ever see her again. Elena was cute with huge honey brown eyes, dusty curly brown blonde hair and milky tanned skin.
She wore a cute huge bow on her curls and a designer ball gown. She had a diamond necklace around her neck and studded earrings on her ears. She looked just like a princess. Mahira wondered if the dress and jewelry wasn't too heavy for her because it looked heavy.
Elena occasionally caught her staring at her and Mahira had to look away with embarrassment. Mahira longed to hug her but she didn't want to risk scaring Elena away. The right time would come when God would help her and she'd love Elena with everything she had.
Dinner time soon arrived and the cake cutting ceremony was completed. The people surrounding Mahira's desk talked about expensive brand labels, how much their diamond and rubies cost and all other things Mahira wasn't in the least interested in.
She pretended to listen just in case they asked her a question but her focus was on Elena. She didn't dare look at the married couple for fear her eyes would give away her pain so she focused on the only positive thing of the night
ELENA'S POV
I really don't like my new sister in law. She is such a witch. If I were to choose a sister in law, without doubt I would've chosen the woman who loved my brother for 7 years.
My brother always complains about her but even a fool can tell that he kinda liked her. I know I'm just seven years old but I'm smart you know, I am an observant girl so nothing can go unnoticed by me.
Brother's word's say something else but the eye's never lie. I don't even know how the lady looks. But I consider her my fairy godmother. May the Lord help me in finding her.
For now I just want to find the lady who was wearing a red lehenga. She's been looking at me the entire night. There's something about the way she observed my every move. I definitely wasn't the main attraction in this party. I'm not the bride nor am I the groom so she had no reason to look at me unless she has some relation to fairy. I think I like her.
She is very beautiful. I need to find her and befriend her. Maybe she might be just who I'm looking for. Hopefully she doesn't shut me off or run away thinking I'm going to confront her for looking at me.
During the whole wedding procession her eye's were filled with pain but her face had a graceful smile that could fool anyone. If I'd missed the glimmer of pain and the second her smile dropped I'd have never realized she was in pain but I didn't.
End of Elena's POV
Ariana approaches Mahira with a smile, two glasses of pure red wine in her hands. She smiles brightly at Mahira as she hands her the other glass.
Ariana, "you did a great job trying to outshine the bride but we both know I'm prettier. Because you're black well let's agree people from Africa can't really defeat our gorgeous women. So are you going to perform or what.
Ariana asks Mahira to perform after giving her a glass of red wine that was spiked. Mahira drinks the whole glass out of spite and throws it on the floor.
Mahira, "of course Mrs Carson." She gave her a fake smile and walked to the stage. The drugs were starting to kick in and she had lost her senses a bit but she decided to perform her very own song that she had wrote in high school after her heartbreak. Mahira sang the song 'Conditions'.
Loving you was one mistake
Staying by your side was the other
It's a risk I took anyway
And now I'm left without a heart
I tried, I tried and I tried to love you
Without any, expectations
But loving you loving you loving you
It all came with conditions
My first mistake was to love you
Unconditionally
But you took me for granted
You didn't value my love
Till the end of time, I was dying
Dying while you were with someone else
You kept loving her and you still did
In the end it felt like…..
She looked at Thane throughout the song
You didn't give a damn
Just one chance is
What I needed
But that chance came with conditions…..
In the middle of the song , Thane stop's the music and applauds her for her performance. He grabs her hand pulling her closer to him whispering dangerously low in her ear.
Thane, "what the fuck are you doing bitch?"
At this point, Mahira had lost her senses. She releases her hand from Thane's grip and grabs Thane by his collar and questions him for all the pain he caused her, something she'd have never done if she was sober.
"Why Thane? Hmmm why? You decided to get married to someone else and didn't think twice about me. I gave you everything. My mother disowned me all because of you, because I loved you . Even after my mother disowned me, I still loved you with every fiber of my being."
Mahira then let's go of his collar and staggers back to the dance floor. She grabbed the microphone from the presenter.
"Hi everyone. My name is Mahira Riley and I am a heartbroken lover, no scratch that, I was in love with someone but he didn't feel the same. Funny right. Do you see the man who is the supposed groom, he is the love of my life."
The hall went in silence as Mahira started revealing her past. She was in very bad shape and she didn't realize what she was doing. The drug had taken control over her completely.
She spoke of all she had done and everyone was disgusted by her actions realizing she was a low class girl. They preferred someone rich and sophisticated like Ariana and Mahira just wasn't suitable for their life's.
"Thane is his name. Thane Carson, the only man I love. For several years I loved him wholeheartedly but he rejected me over and over again. Like a plague he ..."
Elena grabbed the microphone from her. Her attention was stuck on Mahira for a few minutes, unable to take her eyes off her. She was indeed gorgeous. I think prettier and more realistic than Ariana.
" I'm sorry everyone. Well I think she might have had too much to drink. I mean we're not the same with alcohol tolerance right so I'll just take her with me."
Elena passed the microphone to the presenter then held Mahira's hand. Mahira looked at her with admiration even though she didn't quite realize who was holding her hand. Elena wanted to take Mahira away but Thane stopped her.
" Elena, leave her the fuck alone. I think she knows her way out."
Elena looked at her brother with disbelief. She just rolled her eyes at him an held Mahira's hand even tighter.
"brother , is she the one. You know what? It's pointless asking you, I think I already know. I'm just seven years old but that doesn't mean I am stupid. You are the one who has enmity against her but I don't!"
After saying that she took Mahira out of the reception and climbed the stairs to her room, feeling grateful that the reception was taking place in their mansion.
