The door to Mera's chamber closed softly behind her. The faint sound echoed through the quiet corridor, lingering just long enough for Albedo to register it.
Albedo stood there for a second.
"…Huh."
His fingers lifted slightly, brushing unconsciously against his lips where the warmth of that brief kiss still lingered.
A faint exhale left him and then he moved on, turning and beginning to walk back through the palace halls, his footsteps quiet against the polished pearl-stone floors.
The night had deepened further.
The once-busy corridors were now calm, illuminated only by soft coral lanterns and drifting mana lights that pulsed gently along the walls.
The distant echoes of celebration still existed somewhere far away, but here, it felt like an entirely different world.
