"What am I looking at?" Yohan asked, lifting a stack of printed documents. Helen had handed it him as soon as he stepped into her office.
"It's a paper trail," she replied. "Between Hatoru and your father."
"What?" His brows furrowed as he scanned the pages.
"Yes, there's evidence suggesting that the money used to purchase your shop actually came from Hatoru."
"That can't be…" he muttered, shaking his head. "My parents bought that place with their own hard-earned money and a loan from the bank"
"I'm afraid that's not the case." Helen's voice softened slightly.
She stepped closer, folding her arms. "And it's not just your father. Almost everyone on that street owes their shop to Hatoru. That's why they're so willing to sell to him now."
Yohan looked up sharply, confusion flashing across his face.
