Using the final Ultimate Synchro Summon, he gathered all the hope accumulated thus far!
"Miles!"
At that instant, Krista looked at Miles, who was controlling the Wicked God yet swore to reach another limit as a mere human, and her heart couldn't help but stir with emotion.
"Beyond Accel Synchro... Ultimate Synchro? Could that be what Father spoke of!"
"The power of Stardust only reaches its limit when it protects something precious. And I believe... the two of you will one day reach the realm of Limit Overdrive."
"The realm of Limit Overdrive... Father said that Miles and I must bring out Stardust's power to the fullest together..."
Her heart burned with excitement, and just like Miles—who was now gathering countless prayers—Krista Shia was about to grasp the key to that limit gate.
Boom—!
All five Earthbound Immortals descended together. At the brink of collapse, Axet erupted—an explosion of destruction finally erupted atop the Main Magic Stone Leyline Tower.
Though the localized explosion of the main tower had not yet spread to the entire leyline—thus averting an irreversible doomsday for the moment—Krista, standing atop the tower, was still swallowed by the crimson blast. The crimson magic stones beneath her feet crumbled and shattered.
"Eh?" Krista only felt scorching heat across her skin; her body lost all sense of weight, falling helplessly into the flames of destruction below.
"Just one more step away... Is this also... Stardust's fate?"
"Krista!"
Noticing the anomaly, Miles shouted in alarm as Krista's silhouette vanished within the explosion.
The next second, from the raging inferno, a savior appeared—red and white angelic wings spread wide against the roaring wind.
"Seems our courier reacted pretty fast," said the smug voice of the cheeky loli Viel over the D-Wheel communicator.
Driven by the instinct forged from years of battle and bloodshed, even as her soul wavered, her body had already reacted. From the fiery blast, a manifested Rosaria, the Stately Fallen Angel, burst forth, holding two girls in her arms. Unfortunately, Krista's D-Wheel and Millennium Scale would remain forever in the explosion of the leyline.
"Luca?" Miles exclaimed in surprise. "You're seriously my superhero!"
The very next moment, Krista opened her eyes again. The flames that had consumed her were gone… she was now soaring through the sky, face-to-face with the mysterious, adorable, and speechless girl.
"You saved me?"
Luca nodded.
Then, after a brief moment of thought, she shook her head.
Indeed, it was Luca's timely summoning that had pulled Krista out of the inferno.
Nevertheless, before she could truly pull her free, Krista had already been completely engulfed by the flames.
Even by Luca's judgment, anyone rescued from that sea of fire should have been... well-done.
It wasn't her who had saved Krista—Luca realized.
"So that's how it is..."
At the same time, Krista also understood the truth. Raising her hand, she watched as Stardust energy flowed and circled between her fingers.
"It was Stardust... Father!"
Right then, Krista understood why her father had said the realm of Limit Overdrive must be reached together with Miles.
She clenched her fist again—the Stardust between her fingers gathered and spread, flowing around her body, radiating determination.
"Um, could I ask you a favor?" Krista turned to Luca.
"Hm?"
"Take me to Miles. To surpass the limit of Accel, we must go beyond it together!"
"..."
Though Luca didn't speak much these days, her expression clearly said, "Are you insane?"
Still, she didn't refuse Krista's request. Instead, she flapped Rosaria's black-and-red wings harder, accelerating through the air.
"Prepare for a second delivery, Miles!" Viel's teasing voice came through the communicator. "Your little... girlfriend?"
"Huh? Second delivery—wait, hold up!"
Before Miles could protest, Krista's shout came from above his head.
Yes, from directly overhead.
"Miles, catch me!"
Looking up at Krista plummeting toward his D-Wheel, Miles helplessly yelled, "That woman's lost her mind!"
Though it seemed insane, the instant he caught her body—surrounded by glimmering starlight—Miles realized the truth.
She was weightless. When she landed on the D-Wheel, there wasn't even the faintest impact.
"Krista, you..."
The slender girl crouched steadily on the left wing of the D-Wheel's crystal flight system, her eyes meeting his.
"This time, let's fight together, Miles! To reach the very limit!"
"Roar—!"
In the Turbo Duel circuit, Stardust Spark Dragon lifted its head and roared in excitement—for Krista was its true master.
Turning toward the front, Krista smiled. "I know... I can feel it! You want to fight too, don't you, Stardust Spark Dragon!"
From Krista's sculpted, perfect profile, Miles seemed to glimpse something beyond words.
Her cuteness and beauty, her optimism and strength—the courage to risk everything even in despair—all those brilliant traits shone alongside the stardust radiance enveloping them.
"This is our battle, Miles! Together, let's forge the future that saves it all!"
"Yeah. Then you better hang on—no, squat tight, Krista!"
The final acceleration toward the limit would surpass even Accel Synchro.
Yet, Miles wasn't worried. From what he had seen, it was clear—Krista wasn't an ordinary human.
The daughter of Yusei Fudo, Krista... the name itself meant "Quasar."
That crucial connection—Miles was shocked he hadn't realized it until now.
Even Demolish, ending his turn, noticed another presence at Miles's side.
"Oh? Another Stardust user... she survived that explosion?" With five Earthbound Immortals on his field and the overlapping Nazca Lines burning, Demolish's confidence was absolute.
"It's the final moment before the end. No matter how much Stardust you gather, it's meaningless now! Next turn, both you and Axet will meet true destruction."
The outcome seemed set. The detonation of the magic stones was now counting down by the second.
Even if Miles won the duel, with the power of Stardust Dragon, it would be too late to purify all the leyline energy.
"For the last time, Speed World 2's effect activates! I remove seven Speed Counters to draw one more card from my deck!"
[Demolish, SPC: 8 → 1]
Transforming his remaining speed into one last draw, Demolish added a Trap Card before ending his turn.
He swiftly set it. Since The Wicked Avatar had been Special Summoned rather than Normal Summoned, it couldn't seal Miles's Spells and Traps for two turns.
"I set one card and end my turn. Now, bear witness to humanity's final moments as the end arrives!"
"Then watch closely—see what kind of will humanity shows when facing the end itself!"
Turn passes to Miles. His fingertips pressed atop his Spirit Eyes Deck.
"This turn... the Ultimate Synchro Summon will gather all hope we've fought for! Hear it… the echo of hope itself!"
At that instant, through the Stardust particles, the entire Turbo Duel circuit resounded with the hearts of all people across Axet.
You think the voices of mankind on the brink of annihilation would be filled with despair?
No. Led by this duel of hope, the sound of despair was zero!
—'We've fought to the very last moment, never giving up before. Now, we have even less reason to give up.'
'Miracles have happened before. So, for the last time… humanity can create one more miracle.'
'Go, Miles!'
'Go, Krista!'
'Ride on, Stardust Duelists!'
Countless prayers, carried by Stardust particles, converged as golden light toward Miles in the sky.
All that was left for him—to answer them, drawing the card that bore the will to live on.
"My turn! Draw—!"
[Miles, SPC: 8 → 9]
[Demolish, SPC: 1 → 2]
The gap between their D-Wheel Speed Counters widened drastically. Surpassing Demolish's vulture-shaped D-Wheel, Miles and Krista raced through Stardust's brilliance and human hope.
"Come on! Speed World 2's effect activates! I remove four Speed Counters—then reveal a Speed Spell from my hand to inflict 800 damage to you!"
Miles flipped up the single card he drew this turn, his only card in hand.
[Speed Spell - Level Bump]
[Miles, SPC: 9 → 5]
The wind of Speed Counters turned into a real blade of velocity, slicing across Demolish's massive body.
[Demolish, LP: 5600 → 4800]
"Is this your counterattack? It's nothing! Against the despair of destruction, such a paltry strike. What can it achieve?"
"Humanity is small indeed… but the countless sparks of will within us are like stardust in the cosmos. When gathered, they become the stars themselves!"
"Miles, show him the path of your battle! The trail of our Synchro Summons!"
"You got it!"
Miles and Krista pointed skyward together. The final set Trap Card flipped open as their D-Wheel blazed forward.
"—Trap Card, Return from the Different Dimension!"
[Pay half your Life Points. Special Summon as many of your banished monsters as possible. During the End Phase, banish all monsters Special Summoned by this effect.]
He paid half of his Life Points—
[Miles, LP: 0 → 0]
Half of zero is still zero. Using zero as the price, he transformed it into a chain of Special Summons that gathered the final remnants of hope.
From Miles's Banished Zone—[Black Rose Dragon], banished by [Speed Spell - Synchro Revival], and [Formula Synchron] and [Stardust Dragon], banished by [Speed Spell - Tuner Morph].
"The Synchro paths this battle has carved, the cards Krista and I share—these are the keys to open the final gate!"
Krista: "Special Summon! Formula Synchron! Black Rose Dragon!"
Miles: "Gathering prayers into the road of shining light—Special Summon, Stardust Dragon!"
[Formula Synchron, ATK: 200]
[Black Rose Dragon, ATK: 2400]
[Stardust Dragon, ATK: 2500]
The final turn—a crossroads between annihilation and hope. The Synchro Monsters shattered the dimensions as they descended.
Together with [Stardust Spark Dragon], the four Synchro Monsters filled every Zone on Miles's field except the one occupied by [The Wicked Avatar].
"He brought back all his Synchro Monsters on the last turn? Could he be planning..." Demolish's heart trembled.
The combined potential of the two Stardust users far exceeded his imagination.
[Black Rose Dragon], once Special Summoned, could unleash its field-wiping effect—the greatest threat to his five Earthbound Immortals.
However, the Trap Card he'd drawn last turn and set—[Fiendish Chain]—could negate a monster's effects and prevent it from attacking.
Because of that card, Demolish had no need to fear [Black Rose Dragon]'s explosion.
"Your final struggle is meaningless before the Earthbound Gods!"
Yet, Demolish never saw Miles declare the activation of Black Rose Dragon's effect.
Controlling the ultimate Wicked God from the abyss, alongside four Synchro Monsters, bearing all the prayers and hopes of humanity—Miles's D-Wheel became engulfed in golden starlight.
"He's not using Black Rose Dragon's effect!?"
"This is our last chance to save everyone!"
Both Miles and Krista knew it in their hearts. Even if they used Black Rose Dragon's destruction effect to wipe out the Earthbound Gods, the current power of Stardust would not be enough to reverse the world's collapse.
The two of them had to surpass the very limits of Synchro Summoning.
"Whether it works or not... will be decided by this final Speed Spell!"
Miles slammed down his last card, unleashing a gale of pure velocity that roared between life and death.
"—Activate [Speed Spell - Level Bump]!"
[Can only be activated if you have 4 or more Speed Counters. Roll one die, and based on the result, all monsters you control gain the following effect: ●1–2: Reduce Levels by 2. ●3–4: Reduce Levels by 3. ●5–6: Reduce Levels by 4. Levels cannot be reduced below 1.]
"The die that will decide our fate—go!"
Pouring all his will into it, Miles threw the die of destiny and prayed with all his heart.
"Lend me your luck too, Ren!"
"Ren? Who's that?" Krista asked.
"The goddess of dice!"
As if hearing his call, Ren's voice echoed as if from another world: "Don't think of me only now! But... if I can, I'll give you all my luck, Miles!"
The die spun rapidly in the sky, its shifting numbers determining the fate of all Axet.
Result: 6!
The highest possible roll—the one Miles had hoped for.
"Fate's still on our side! According to [Speed Spell - Level Bump], all my monsters' Levels decrease by four!"
Except for the Wicked God, which was unaffected by other card effects, the four Synchro Monsters bathed in the glow of Speed World's starlight.
[Black Rose Dragon, Level 7 → 3]
[Stardust Dragon, Level 8 → 4]
[Stardust Spark Dragon, Level 8 → 4]
[Formula Synchron, Level 2 → 1]
"Using his last Speed Spell... to lower his monsters' Levels?"
Though Demolish didn't yet understand Miles's intent, the starlight that converged at that instant, despite lowering in Level, shone brighter than ever before.
"This is it… the Accel Synchro that transcends the limit! Using every Synchro Monster on my field, I perform a Synchro Summon!"
The Level 1 Synchro Tuner Monster, [Formula Synchron], symbol of miracles and hope, erupted into multiple Synchro rings, encircling every Synchro Monster Miles controlled.
1★ + 3★ + 4★ + 4★ = 12★!
A MAX Level 12 Synchro Summon—performed entirely with Synchro Monsters!
"Accel Synchro surpasses light… but what surpasses even Accel Synchro... is Limit Overdrive!"
"Let our Stardust and everyone's prayers unite as one!" Krista reached upward, as though grasping something both distant and near. "Go, Miles!!"
Racing through the golden radiance of countless gathered prayers, Miles finally reached the realm of Limit Overdrive. Humanity's hopes carried him skyward.
In the dark expanse above, bathed in golden light, Miles and Krista, riding their D-Wheel, broke through the planetary barrier, touching the drifting stardust of the cosmos itself.
Within the limitless heavens, the light of hope manifested before them, illuminating the two.
And Krista's outstretched hand finally reached its goal.
"Take my hand, Miles! This resolve, this power… and the card Father left behind… can only be used with you!"
Within the realm of Stardust, the card left by Yusei Fudo could only be shared once both their fingertips touched—the card of Limit Synchro.
"Yeah! Let's grasp hope together, Krista!"
Without another thought, Miles took her hand. Their fingertips touched the card, formed from the stardust of all hope, glowing with the brilliance of the stars.
"Miles... fighting by your side... it really makes me so, so happy!"
"Krista, you... I knew it."
Just as he'd suspected… yet still, it hit him deep.
Aisha: "Mr. Miles, Krista's body... it's disappearing! What's happening!?"
Miles: "Aisha, take it in. Krista's power."
Miles & Krista: "This is it… The final one! The Limit Overdrive that will lead to a new future!"
In the celestial expanse, they seized the strongest Synchro card among the stars. Bathed in golden light, Miles's D-Wheel broke through the cosmos once more—then plunged back toward the battlefield of the Turbo Duel.
Returning with newfound power!
Unlike the pale green Synchro rings of normal Synchro Summons, the rings encircling [Stardust Dragon], [Stardust Spark Dragon], and [Black Rose Dragon] under Limit Overdrive glowed with dazzling gold.
As Miles's D-Wheel accelerated, Krista's body, wrapped in golden light, slowly faded away.
The golden Synchro rings shifted into a gradient of red.
It was a direct reflection of a real astronomical phenomenon: the redshift of a quasar.
"Quasar"—the name Yusei himself had given Krista.
As the golden light transitioned into red, Miles descended back onto the track. Krista's figure was gone.
In her place stood the culmination of all Stardust—the Synchro beyond all limits.
Miles raised his arm toward the blazing quasar above.
"When the gathered stars become one, a new bond shall illuminate the future! Become the shining road of light—Limit Overdrive Synchro!"
Equally radiant was the ultimate Synchro card inherited from Krista.
"Limit Overdrive Synchro! Light of Evolution—Shooting Quasar Dragon!!!"
[Shooting Quasar Dragon] Level 12│LIGHT│Dragon│4000 ATK / 4000 DEF
[Tuner Synchro Monster + 2 or more non-Tuner Synchro Monsters]
Faster than light, stronger than any Accel Synchro—the ultimate 12-star form of Synchro Dragon, [Shooting Quasar Dragon]. Its colossal, radiant body rivaled the brilliance of the gathered stars, its wings scattering the darkness of the heavens with flowing celestial light.
In that flash, Stardust transformed into a constellation, its divine light cascading upon the earth, purifying the crimson magic stones on the verge of collapse back to their pristine, crystal-clear state.
"The will of the earth's destruction... it's been erased!" Demolish exclaimed. "Could the ultimate limit of Synchro Summoning truly change the future of annihilation!?"
Originally, even if Miles won this duel, there was no way he could have purified the land in time using only Stardust's power.
But now, thanks to [Shooting Quasar Dragon]—born from the Limit Overdrive Synchro—the power of the gathered stars transcended Stardust's limits and accomplished the impossible.
"The future of destruction has been rewritten by the hope gathered here! Humanity's will to survive now shines as the light of the cosmos!"
On Miles's field, not only did [Shooting Quasar Dragon] blaze with radiant hope, but even [The Wicked Avatar]'s form changed—its appearance shifting as it mirrored the highest Attack power on the field.
[The Wicked Avatar, ATK: 4001]
Two Quasar Dragons—one white, one black—soared in dazzling brilliance on Miles's field. Even the five Earthbound Immortals, fueled by the blazing Nazca Lines, could not stand against such overwhelming might.
The power gap was absolute.
Miles declared the Battle Phase. "[Shooting Quasar Dragon] is unaffected by monster effects—so it can still attack your Earthbound Immortals!"
(P.S. The Earthbound Immortal's continuous effect can indeed be countered by monster effect immunity—this isn't headcanon! Just clarifying since there's no intercut commentary!)
"And [Shooting Quasar Dragon] can attack up to the number of Synchro Materials used to summon it during a single Battle Phase!"
Using [Formula Synchron], [Stardust Dragon], [Stardust Spark Dragon], and [Black Rose Dragon] as its four Synchro Materials, the Limit Overdrive [Shooting Quasar Dragon] could attack four times in one turn.
Together with [The Wicked Avatar], whose power and form had synchronized with Quasar, this turn would be the decisive five-hit annihilation of all five Earthbound Immortals.
"It's over, Demolish! The god of destruction will repent alongside the Earthbound Gods in destruction itself!"
Racing forward through the golden stream of light, Miles raised his arm high. "Attack!"
"I'm not done yet!" Demolish roared, flipping his last face-down card. "Trap Card, [Fiendish Chain], activate!"
[Target one Effect Monster on the field; while this card is face-up in the Spell & Trap Zone, that monster cannot attack, and its effects are negated. When that monster is destroyed, destroy this card.]
"I'll negate [Shooting Quasar Dragon]'s effect and seal its attack!"
From the activated Trap Card, countless dark chains shot skyward toward the immense, radiant Quasar.
"Trying to bind the stars themselves? You're far too naive, Demolish!" Miles retorted.
The chains couldn't even reach the magnificent dragon that illuminated the Turbo Duel circuit above. Its wings glowed brilliantly, ignoring the binding effect entirely.
"Bakana!"
"[Shooting Quasar Dragon]'s effect!"
[Once per turn, when a Spell, Trap, or Monster effect is activated: You can negate that activation, and if you do, destroy it.]
With the all-encompassing negation born of Limit Overdrive, [Shooting Quasar Dragon] nullified every effect before it. The countless dark chains smashed apart within its light.
"There's nothing left that can stop us from changing the future!"
Bathed in golden radiance, Miles thrust his hand forward again toward the five massive Earthbound Gods in the sky.
"Now all that's left... is to break the resentment buried in the earth—to destroy the false deities of the Earthbound Gods with Quasar's light of hope! Let's do this, Krista!"
"Roar—!"
The majestic [Shooting Quasar Dragon] roared, its white light intertwining with the gold of Limit Overdrive, reflecting their united resolve.
"[Shooting Quasar Dragon] attacks!—Creation Burst!!"
Gathered within the colossal dragon's maw, the first beam of purifying light fired toward [Earthbound Immortal Uru], the spider god.
[Earthbound Immortal Uru] destroyed.
The spider's Nazca Line went dark.
"Aaaaaaaagh!"
[Demolish, LP: 4800 → 3800]
The will of destruction embodied by Demolish—the being born from the combined power of all Earthbound Gods—screamed in agony as his divine essence fractured when Quasar's light obliterated his monsters.
Albeit, that pain signified rebirth for the world that teetered on the edge of ruin.
To protect that radiant, renewed future, Miles continued his assault.
"Creation Burst—Second Strike!!"
[Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua] destroyed.
The whale Nazca Line faded.
"Aaaaaaaagh!"
[Demolish, LP: 3800 → 2700]
"Creation Burst—Third Strike!!"
[Earthbound Immortal Cusillu] destroyed.
The monkey Nazca Line faded.
"Aaaaaaaagh!"
[Demolish, LP: 2700 → 1500]
Switching targets, [The Wicked Avatar], now in the form of a black Quasar Dragon, slowly raised its head.
"This one's... the Abyssal Creation Burst!!"
[Earthbound Immortal Ccarayhua] destroyed.
The lizard Nazca Line went dark.
"Aaaaaaaagh!"
[Demolish, LP: 1500 → 299]
Miles's reason for saving the final strike was simple.
He wanted to leave the last blow—the one that would seize hope, victory, and the future—to [Shooting Quasar Dragon].
It was also his way of honoring Krista, the partner who had fought beside him until the very end, with his utmost respect.
"Let's end this duel together, Krista!"
"Roar!!"
The radiant dragon roared again, as though rejoicing for this moment.
As the Earthbound Gods fell, the land of Axet was truly reborn.
The power of the stars, capable of cleansing all, not only restored the corrupted magic stones to purity but also healed the fractured earth, the collapsed buildings, and even the wounded people—all revitalized by Quasar's divine creation.
The luminous force that carried the hope of survival spread across the land, rewriting even causality itself—an evolution beyond Yusei Fudo's original theory.
"Incredible power, Krista! With this strike—save and recreate it all! Bring us victory, [Shooting Quasar Dragon]!!"
"—Creation Burst - Genesis Flare!!"
[Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu] destroyed.
"Aaaaaaaghhhhhh!!"
[Demolish, LP: 299 → 0]
The final blast of Quasar's light pierced through Axet's skies and earth alike. The giant Nazca Lines were extinguished.
Darkness, despair, and destruction... all vanished in the united struggle of the Stardust duelists.
In their place came light, hope, and infinite possibility: the future, created by Miles's own hands, on this pivotal day where worlds diverged.
